    It makes sense if you look at the leaked engine list. There's 600, 800, 1000hp.

    Unless the 1000hp is the ZR1 aka zora aka e-ray? And the z06 is the 800hp variant and then maybe the grand sport is the 600hp variant?

    I doubt it though. The base stingray is VERY impressive as it is, the only way to improve that is to make it a z06. Not a grand sport. Grand sports have never really been the higher end performance models. THey are just beefed up stingrays with the same power.

    All the power goes to the higher end models.

    Thanks. Seems GM is keeping us guessing but you might have it figured out. The C7 Grand Sport does have some good track numbers. Would have been more exciting if GM put 100hp more in it.

    That article said that GM is finalizing the looks, hence the disguise. Confusing. Is it going to look much different than what we already know?

    GM lets their engineers drive the C8's here in Bowling Green as daily drivers. I have made a few passes against them in my daily C5 and THEY ARE QUICK!

    Two GM guys got arrested the other night for racing their C8's doing 100+mph in a 45.

    The only main difference between the C7 stingray Z51 and the C7 grand sport is the bigger brakes, widebody to fit the bigger wheels and tires. Hence why you're going to get better lap times at whatever track. It has the same power as a base stingray.

    Z06/ZR1 models have always been special. More power, extra goodies, especially as the years go by in the generation where each year gets revisions. Grand sports don't get all those goodies. They're just widebody base models. Nothing wrong with that, but i think for a mid engine car, at this stage of the game for GM, i don't think they're going to waste their time and resources to make a grandsport. Either you get the Z51 base or move up to the higher end models.

    Whatever this camo widebody C8 is, it's going to be insane. I'm pretty sure it's the z06 because that's next to always debut after a base model. I just want it to come out already so i can place my deposit.

    Since the C6 Z/ZR days, GM put massive rubber in the rear. 325 or 335. 335's came on my Z. But if ambient temps aren't above 70, you need to drive for like an hour to warm up the stock pilot super sports. Otherwise they spin 1st and 2nd, sometimes 3rd. Not really confidence inspiring. It's scary.

    I have used R888's in 325, multiple types of street tires in 335 and nitto invo's in 345 (phucking garbage), none of them hook except for the R888's. They hook. Tire treadwear rating is low but having good traction is worth it. They're loud as well. And should never be driven in temps 40 or below.

    Since i drive my car year round, i had to put back my street tires.

    With the C8, since all the weight is in the rear now, it should be relatively easier to hook. Like most supercars.

    And of course the DCT and torque management helps big time too.

    Prices for the C7 ZR1 will not go anywhere anytime soon. Remember the C7 ZR1 is a ONE YEAR production model. And the flagship model for the C7 lineup. It's going to be tough getting a good deal on that. But congrats if you do. Your best bet is to get a 2019 C7Z (which has all of the revisions). It has essentially all of the ZR1 components minus the blower, the light weight (stronger) wheels, and the ZR1 badge.

    If a C7 is the car you want to keep for a long ass time, and don't care for price, then get the ZR1. Otherwise it's better to get the z06 for almost half the cost. (you can still get 2019's 1LZ leftovers for 70k).

    I've seen brand new ZR1's go for as high as 160k inflated when they first came out. The prices now seem realistic.

    Higher trim levels are a waste to me as i don't need heated/cool seats or any of the other "luxuries". The stage 1 (1LZ), (1ZR) are the fastest trims because they aren't heavily equipped with aero. IF you don't track the car, getting all the aero slows you down, unless you like just looking good, while not going as fast as you could.

    You can find some 2019 1LZ z06's for 70k if you shop at the big corvette lots. And there's already dudes on the forum trading in those 19's for the C8's. So you basically get a brand new 2019 that already took the deprecation hit from the first owner.

    Yes so far the only C8 is the base, and then the Z51 package stingray. The Z06 model usually follows the stingray/base debut after 1 year, so i hope it's no different this time around. Because i want to place my order on one already. Watching the C8R race car today and i'm loving the sounds it makes. It's different and doesn't really sound like a V8, but since, IMHO, the C8 is a supercar now, it should make supercar sounds lol

    Yeah I was watching them. Not bad for their first time out. Look at the first time out with the Ford GT... I don't know if any even finished their first 24 hour race. I'll bet team Corvette will do the same as Ford and be very competitive in LeMans in the next few years.

    GM said end of february we'll start seeing the C8's at actual dealers.

    I feel like we'll see about the same speed of depreciation for the C8 as what we saw with the C7 stingray.

    How much do C8's go for?? lol I don't even know. Been concentrating on the C8 Z06. Are they like 70k? So figure in the year 2023 it'll be like 50'ish?

    But usually what GM does is that have gigantic discounts towards the end of the year at the big name corvette lots like kerbeck, criswell etc. That's how i got my C7Z, it was 18% off MSRP.

    I should wait for a 2nd or 3rd year C8Z because i'm sure there's bugs that need to be worked out and i can probably get another year end discount but phuck that, i need to upgrade my car now lol

    I would consider getting a 2020 Z51 and driving it for 2-3 years until the Z06s are solid (no bugs) and even starting to see some discounts then trade it in. Historically first model year Z06s have a few issues so you end up paying the most for what is usually the worst model year to own. Buying a first model year Z06 only to trade it for a later model year would probably cost more than going from a Z51 to Z06.

    There haven't been many 1st year C6Z issues and not many 1st year C7Z issues as well. I have seen people posting on the forum a lot of the 2018 and 2019 Z issues which is 4th and 5th year of the Z for the C7, problems i don't have in my car.

    The only advantages in getting later years are the revisions, maybe a MAG ride update, added features in the cluster etc.

    There are no power differences, or suspension geometry differences etc.

    I can't see myself going from a Z car to a stingray, even though the C8 stingray is very impressive and wipes the floor with a C7 stingray/grandsport.

    I like having new cars often so even if i get the first year C8Z, if the car is that good, i can always trade (or if i lease, get into a new lease on a later year C8Z), and just keep the car hopefully longer than i usually do as i can't foresee making a Z06 much better if there is a C9 way later in the future.
