Read both articles they tested in 5th because it was the closest to 1:1 Gear. The got the ratios from GM. And you missed the most important part of my post about HP numbers the math doesn't work out at the stated HP rating for their 0-60 times. They even ran a dodge 2500 to make sure their Dyno was working properly. Came up with almost the exact right numbers for the Dodge. So are you intentionally being obtuse or do you really not understand how the numbers could be fudged by GM?

I'm being realistic. You don't really think it's making 160hp and 130tq over Chevy's claimed numbers, do you?
From the Corvette Forum:
Rough numbers, but a 5000rpm 560 rwhp 6.2L V8 needs airflow of about 500g/sec (66lbs/hr) which puts it at 170% VE. 170VE is absolutely laughable and insane for an NA car. Especially not with a flat torque curve like that. F1 has about 125. And that's using some very sophisticated stuff and making sacrifices for a very peaky torque curve
That's probably a good 8PSI boosted car.
Is there any evidence it was set up correctly? A 6.2 liter NA, OHV 2 valve engine simply isn't going to produce more than 650 HP without sounding and running like a NASCAR engine with NASCAR exhaust.
and a lot more RPM.
Nascar spins to about 9k. I'm guessing peak hp around 8k. VE around 120%.
LOL at a n NA production car making 170% VE
The highest HP NA LT1 I know of (Kaltech 627rwhp) was around 125-130% VE (which is still pretty insane).

Whatever is real or fake, GM is going to sell these chits like hot cakes lol.
I actually believe this "strike" is a hoax because they underestimated the amount of buys for this BASE C8.
It's rather annoying because that's only pushing the C8Z production later and later. And i phucking want one already.
I love my C7Z, but i want the next best thing. Can't wait to flick those paddles on that DCT.

Yeah i still gotta test drive the C8. I sat in one, started it, revved it, loved the way it feels when you're seated inside. Although hard to get used to the center console. There's some "camaro'ish" type tightness. Not as bad obviously but you get the impression the moment you sit inside.
Totally agree on the procharger. If the C8 was a bust, i was going to either upgrade to the C7 ZR1 or procharge my C7Z. The stock blower blows lol.

Ok, the horsepower and torque were under-reported. Porsche has been known to do this for many years, including being conservative on how fast its 911s are.
Several online auto magazines reported 2.8 to 3.0 seconds 0-60. That means, as several posters have pointed out, that the C8 produces more HP and torque than Chevy has reported to achieve those speeds at ~3300lbs.
What is the explanation why Chevy would do that? Insurance? To make reporters more impressed with the power for marketing?Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

If by race you mean take it to an actual track, no i don't. Even if i did, i think i wouldn't even bring an s2000 to it's limits and that's slow as hell.
The car is fast stock, but like all cars, you get used to the power. The only time when i'm actually scared to go full throttle in my car, especially 2nd, is when the ******t temp is 70 or below.
I don't buy corvettes for it's practicality. The corvette itself isn't practical. It's only a 2 seater, wide, and low to the ground. A corvette living as a daily driver with the average joe that lives in the city, will be destroyed in a month. I get these cars to enjoy on the weekends.
I still can't wait to upgrade to the C8Z. I'm not one of those guys who are blinded by the car they currently own and nothing else is ever better until it's time to actually move on, then that car is the best ever lol. I love my car yes, but there are far better cars out there. I have my fun and move on.

My buddy's 03 Cobra trapped 122 and put down 450rwhp. 3600lbs and a manual 6 speed.
A mid engine, 495hp DCT car weighing 3300lbs should be right where the magazines have tested it (11.3 @ 121mph). If it truly made the power Motortrend claims (600+ crank hp), a 122mph trap speed would be abysmal.
An NA, factory 6.2L engine is not going to make those numbers at that RPM (less than 6k rpm).

Back in the old days manufactures would under rate cars for insurance. But with all the info out there today I don't think they could really get away with it.
I'd wager that the dyno just wasn't setup right. All dynos aren't equal and even the two identical dynos in different locations can give different numbers. They'll be out soon enough to see which one is right.

ZR1 Hnnnngggg!
https://www.motortrend.com/news/c8-c...8-with-900-hp/
Back in August, we exclusively reported the upcoming mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette Z06 would feature a twin-turbo flat-plane-crank dual-overhead-cam V-8 based on the C8.R race car's engine. Now, we can report from an even higher-placed source that the range-topping C8 Corvette ZR1 will add a performance hybrid system to boost it to 900 hp

Hennessy is overrated when it comes to an aftermarket company.
I think i saw crazy price points of 75k to make 1000hp on a ZL1 back in the day, the 5th gen ZL1. But i guess the extra cost includes some type of warranty.
Either way it's a good way of putting their name out there again to get as much business once the C8's start rolling in. But it will be short lived once the Z comes out. I am sure there will be most who will buy it and keep it stock? Because it's such a new platform? But then i'm sure the people with deeper pockets will not are and send their C8Z's to them anyway for as much power as possible lol.
I would say 8s to answer your question. Easy. And all day too.

Looks like these articles are holding some truth as we're getting closer to the c8 z06 debut.
The leaked engine spec sheet clearly shows a 5.5 NA with 600hp and that definitely looks like it's going in the z06. Then the 800hp twin turbo version into the zr1 and then the 1000hp monster into the zora.
I don't think there's going to be a grand sport this time. Because usually improvements for the grand sport are made so it can outperform the stingray. With how impressive the stingray is, idk where the grand sport would fit in this equation. Anything better than the stingray, it's the z06.

It makes sense if you look at the leaked engine list. There's 600, 800, 1000hp.
Unless the 1000hp is the ZR1 aka zora aka e-ray? And the z06 is the 800hp variant and then maybe the grand sport is the 600hp variant?
I doubt it though. The base stingray is VERY impressive as it is, the only way to improve that is to make it a z06. Not a grand sport. Grand sports have never really been the higher end performance models. THey are just beefed up stingrays with the same power.
All the power goes to the higher end models.

Thanks. Seems GM is keeping us guessing but you might have it figured out. The C7 Grand Sport does have some good track numbers. Would have been more exciting if GM put 100hp more in it.
That article said that GM is finalizing the looks, hence the disguise. Confusing. Is it going to look much different than what we already know?Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

In case you haven't seen...
GM lets their engineers drive the C8's here in Bowling Green as daily drivers. I have made a few passes against them in my daily C5 and THEY ARE QUICK!
Two GM guys got arrested the other night for racing their C8's doing 100+mph in a 45.

I got sent a snapchat pic as the arrest was going down.. will find & upload it for reps!
