Dumb is trying to compare a 0-60 mph time down to the few 10ths of a second considering the variables that can skew the 0-60 times +/- just one, or even two tenths of a second.
If the street is dirty, or the track prep is hot or cold. Tire pressure aired down on DOT street drag radials etc...
And if getting technical the same exact car in a different state say Colorado versus Florida there will be a difference in clocked time/testing.
Either way it doesn't matter what Chevy marketing says the car will do because if it isn't fast enough for the owner it can be modified to go faster.

You seriously think that back end is legit? The exhaust looks terrible, the tail lights mimic the camaro and the license plate area is way too big. The rest isnt bad even though the front is NSX-ish.
All in all, they knocked it out of the park as far as performance, but the rear end is killing me.USMC 0311

I can get used to it, just as i got used to the C7 rear end which isn't perfect as well.
The big plate opening is for european plates. Tail lights look the same except the "arrows" are pointing outward instead of drooping down and around?
It's a love or hate type of design. I like it. And the tail lights and license plate area (where my plate will go anyway) won't stop me from owning probably the best corvette to date.
I'm going for the C8 z06 anyway so it's going to look even better than the base.

But I'm not arguing or grasping at straws.
What is so hard to believe about a mid engine car with 495+ horsepower and 470+ lb ft of torque going through an electronic assisted Tremec DCT transmission running the performance numbers that Chevy stated. Just because McLaren and Ferrari can't do it doesn't mean Chevy can't either. What Chevy has that McLaren and Ferrari don't is engine displacement and torque down low to get the car moving from a dead stop faster.
And I highly doubt Chevy would over hype the performance specs on a car like this when there just isn't any need to.

Yes, tires + tune + weight reduction, etc and S550s are low 11s to high 10s cars. Its bonkers . I assume it's the same for the camaros but I don't know.
However, I'd rather have a car that can do those times in track form, not strip form. The C8 might be that and that's insanity.
Just think about it, when the C8 depreciates in 10 years to $20k , anyone will be able to have that performance.Boycott foodservice industry crew

I remember last year on an auto website where one of the benchmarks for the C8 was the Porsche 911 Turbo S. My favorite car ever by the way.
I am sure the C8 team learned how to put more weight in the rear (duh) to put all that power down instead of spinning tires. So, performance will be greatly improved.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

dont get me wrong, i think it looks pretty damn good.
but the top down rear view is what you would actually see in person.
a lot of cars look better if you take pictures at low/bottom-up angles, but those viewing angles are almost never seen IRL.
remember that and lighting and angles can make a 4/10 broad look like a 8/10Last edited by gluon; 07-21-2019 at 08:31 PM.

This new vette is crazy. I don't know if Ford has plans for a mid engine mustang to compete against it or not.
Dodge will have to do something also as they can't sit on the sidelines as the 60k price tag of the new C8 is roughly around the price as a new Challenger Hellcat.
They'll have to make changes to the Challenger Hellcat line and add some type of wedge body mid engine performance model and call it the Challenger Alpha Dog with the 6.2L supercharged Hemi.
Chevy C8 will change everything for all the new generation performance cars coming from Ford and Dodge.

Ppl realize that manufacturers now underrate their HP right? It used to be the opposite but it seems the marketing of "doing more with less" is very appealing and scores them major points with journalists/awards/ext
for instance, for my m3 competition bmw claimed 444hp. Dyno tested bone stock im actually getting slightly more than that, TO THE WHEELS.
This among all the other stuff already mentioned in this thread i wouldnt doubt their claims
