I would be surprised if the gt500 is any faster than mine in the 1/4, tbh, track I would expect it to win but that's largely driver mod anyway, but I doubt it's going to beat a stage 2 whipple
I have about 50k in it so far and its a fun car but it's not a head turner the way this is, and mine isnt going under 3 seconds 0-60 even with DRs much less street tires.
Mine looks like a generic high school kids car to most people and this looks like a supercar for just 10k more, with a warranty and much better interior. I wonder if it can break 10s stock though?

Who the hell are these people and why are they so obsessed with EV? Every Car enthusiast knows exhaust is apart of the of the visceral experience when it comes to driving. Why do they want to take that away?
And Time and Time again I tell retards that driving cars is more than just 0-60 and 1/4 times. A top fuel Dragster does 0-60 in 2 Seconds and the 1/4 mile in 6, but that doesn't mean it's fun.Last edited by MikeLowrrrey; 07-19-2019 at 11:02 PM.

If the car can do 3 seconds or under 0-60 stock, it's capable of doing 10s stock, depending on the gearing. Idk about the power being enough to do it though. If anything a C8 base stock will run high mid 11s all day.
Don't forget this debut is a pre-production model, so it could look like slightly different when they are hitting the actual showroom floors. Even if the changes are minor, that could change the look too.
I get what you mean about not turning heads. THat's why i kept my C7Z around. Instead of just getting another car i can enjoy more everyday instead of on the weekends. But it's hard to get rid of this car just yet because it's instant gratification the moment i leave my block, everyone is already breaking necks. Like literally stop walking, then when i pass them i look in my mirror and i see them turn around to see me leave lol. It's hard to give that up. So i was looking for a car to give me that, plus still be really fast, reliable, modern, and there wasn't many cars in the price range, or actually there were NO cars in the price range to give me every single part of that. So that's why i'm keeping the C7Z until the C8Z arrives.
C8Z will look proper with the widebody, extra power, aero bits, and lowered. It'll look like mclaren and ferrari had a baby haha. And the person wouldn't have to spend 200k+ to get it.
Damn GM did really good this time. They did great with the C7, even better with the C8.
Can't wait for the 5.5 twin turbo DOHC V8 for the z06. Phuck!

It is. Superior in every way. Auto was foreseen as a downgrade back in the day as the manual counterpart was always the faster choice.
Now the tables have turned. Auto is the faster option and a manual is a downgrade.
I'm so glad GM decided not to go with the manual for the C8. Increases it's "exotic value" lol.
And plus even if they decide to do it, there's no room!! lol They're going to put a small ass gear lever right where those drive buttons are? lol

Yeah domestics haven't been taking chit from anyone for performance value in the last decade. I was really hoping that supra would be another 1k whp robust platform. Mitsubishi pulled out entirely. Subby STIs are not serious at all anymore. And now the supra is just a rebadged BMW. Real sad state of affairs for JDM. Oh yeah, the turbo honda civic that goes 0-60 in 6 secs. Yawn. Most of these cars cost more than the domestic counterparts, handle worse, and can't handle much more power.
BMWs are still great, the M series providing a great tradeoff for those who want more refinement in characteristics of the platform for more cost, that's pretty much all that needs to be said. The Kia stinger is at least an attempt, and a pretty good one, but no one knows if the car will hold up under mods in the long term. It doesn't really outperform other cars in it's category; I'd rather drive an Audi or BMW sedan than pay 50k for the Stinger and then still get put down by every pony car.
I am aware I am comparing sedans to coupes, but most manufacturers' best performing vehicles in these price ranges are one or the other. If you need or want a sedan, then the domestic brands falter. We used to have the SS, and it was nice, but it was not enough to hold off the M series and Audi barrage on our own home turf. Then we lost the taurus SHO, which never gained ANY ground in the market. Dodge has SRT chargers, but they're slower in a straight line and around a track than other cheaper options.
Anyways, not a import hater, but damn if I don't love these American cars right now. I miss the big turbo 4 cyl days of my youth, but my GT on a simple E85 and bolt ons is faster and more reliable in every way than anything I've had before. For a little bit, we can sit back and appreciate the good stuff coming out of Detroit for the moment.
Until the C6 and further refinement of the C7, the corvette was the most generic sports car on the market for about 30 years. I'd expect them to follow the 80/20 rule when it comes to styling, 20% of effort for 80% of the results. No matter what the C8 looks like, it's still better than the last few decades.Last edited by rectifryer; 07-20-2019 at 05:14 AM.

It's a base corvette lol. A C7 ZR1 costs as much as an AMG GT.
And who said anything about being a supercar? A corvette was never classified nor was it trying to be one, ever. It just so happened starting from the C6ZR, it had supercar performance, basically crushing most supercars twice it's price.
That continued with the C7Z/ZR1, except now it was backed by supercar looks.
And GM is even pushing the envelope more with the mid engine. The C8Z will be the one. And i think the zora will be even 1 up from that lol.
Everyone been sleeping on the corvette. Look at what GM did now. No one even thought about owning a corvette, now everyone says they want one!!
I guess GM's plan worked LOL.

You eavesdropping my convos at home brah? Literally was saying how disappointed I am in the JDM market. Itās like after the 90s it was just less and less effort from them except for Nissan who was still trying but is now keeping platforms way too long. Toyota wet the bed with the new Supra and then itās basically irrelevant after the C8. There is talk that the next gen Mustang will pretty much abandon the pony car look and go for a much more visceral sports car approach. They kind of have to now.

It's a tough choice for me still in what toy (weekend car) to replace my C7Z with as i mentioned the reasons a few posts above. But really we live in an era where there are soo many good cars out there, you really can't go wrong.
I mean hell i even thought about giving up my C7Z for a hellcat charger haha. Just because i wanted something more spacious, wicked fast and something i could use everyday without a care. I could do that with my Z, although its not spacious but i could use it everyday if i wanted to, i just don't want to put that wear and tear on the car like that. Plus i'll be paranoid dailying it.
But how's the lease options for the M2? That's definitely a good car to get in the meantime although it's tiny. Like a chicks BMW lol IMHO. Why not try to hop in an m3? Or a used M3? to hold you off for 3 years until the 2nd year of the C8Z comes out. Or at least i'm hoping.
I'm definitely getting the 2nd year C8Z. So i hope they debut the Z version in 2021. I can't wait any longer.

idk the M2 is a fun little car by all accounts, lighter weight and shorter wheelbase then the M3, also cheaper. Just got a chance to drive my dad's new '18 M3cs and it's a fukkin beast of a sedan
I say I'll wait for the Z but then go into their builder tool and come up with this and it's like fuarkkk must resist urge to order

Fuarkk idk how anyone can look at this and think it's ugly. Not your cup of tea or w/e sure, but straight up ugly? nah fam.
Can't wait to see the LeMans version tearing the GT3 class's angus up now that it's got the engine in the right place

As a corvette guy for the past decade, i will say i'm happy lots of non corvette dudes approve this. Goes to show what GM was hoping for all these years. C7 was a step in the right direction but it just needed more. The C8 is it.
I phucking can't wait to order and build my C8Z. So freaking excited!!! hahahaha

lol that's funny. The 4 door M3 was actually something i was going to get to replace my C7Z now. I like new cars. New chit constantly. So perhaps i am just bored with my Z. But idk, it guess it rekindled the fire because i know once i leave this Z, i'm hoping in a WAY better Z in a few years.
Got damn that C8 is phucking fire lol.
Has some mclaren, F430'ish front, some nsx here and there, a sprinkle of R8.
Who cares, the chit looks incredible lol

I'm hoping you're right about the times because that helps me cope better with not getting one. That is a full second faster to 60 than the current stingray and that's a crazy speed increase for a heavier car - they say it's because the first gear stays engaged up to 60 but is that just with a launch and in drag mode settings? No one is going to do that outside the drag strip
The rear looks like it was bought on Ebay, but the front and side are great imo
