This thing is so nasty. I think I may have a Corvette in my future.. just hate that they'll be everywhere.
Here are some revs from the C8R

Sad to see the end of an era with the vette is all. Manuals may be getting phased out in places but some manufacturers actually care about their enthusiast customers. Aston is doing manual Vantage's again for gawds sake. Porsche, BMW, mini, almost all Japanese manufacturers. The lead guy for cadillac is promising on bringing back the manual option for the CT4... that just tells me GM was too lazy to bother with engineering for a manual corvette because of the mid engine change. It's going to be a good track car but not so much on that run for fun in the twisties. One foot on the gas and one foot on the brake isn't nearly as entertaining as a scandi flick filled heel toe dance.

Well it really has nothing to do caring for customers. They look at the entire picture.
If you took a group of 100 people and said what do you want to eat today, i can only order from one place and 94 of them say pizza but the 6 people say burgers, majority rules and pizza will be bought. The 6 people just have to accept what's given to them whether they like it or not.
Aston and the other few manufacturers that are still making or will continue to make manuals for 1 model car doesn't mean much because that particular market is so small. I mean how many vantages do you see? Ever? Figure if aston has a low percentage of their particular model car being sold, they will do whatever it takes to grab ANY audience they can. Hence why they went for the manual route, because there are still a small percentage of car buyers willing to buy a manual. I know i wouldn't buy a manual vantage, even if i was looking for a vantage. A car like that, you don't get it because you wanna row gears lol.
Sorry to say but as much as i love manual, it's dead. Even when i drive my C7Z, which is a manual, i think of how much better it would be if GM put a PROPER auto in it. I would have gotten the 8 speed auto in the C7Z but it's phucking garbage, i didn't want to do with that, i went with the manual which is actually a better option in that case, if you're not drag racing. More reliable, doesn't make the car overheat, longer gearing, less power loss.
Now that GM put a DCT in the new corvette, all those problems are eliminated. The ones that are tired of driving manual, can now own a VERY fast efficient auto. Quick up and downshifts.
With how advanced cars are these days, you actually can NOT bring the most potential out of a car if it still has a manual.
A lot of today's technology works around the automatic transmission believe it or not. PRetty sure you knew that.
I know i won't miss the manual when it's gone. I did enough seat time doing that, i got it out of my system. GM would have failed big time if they developed this perfection and kept a manual trans.
Everything is much more efficient when you pair it with a good auto. GM did that.

It’s very likely that the Corvette C8.R is powered by a new, naturally-aspirated 5.5L DOHC V8 engine with a flat-plane crank. Meanwhile, a street-legal variant of this very engine will most likely see street use in the C8 Z06. The rumored twin-turbo variant of this 5.5L DOHC, otherwise known as the LT7, will go into the C8 ZR1. Both engines will be derived from the Cadillac 4.2L V8 DOHC LTA, aka the Cadillac Blackwing, though neither will be the Blackwing itself, as that engine is a Cadillac-only creation.

Yeah, i think this is going to be accurate looking at the engine spec sheets. The 800hp engine will go to the ZR1 and the 1000hp will go to the king daddy, the hybrid called the zora?
And then the only thing left is the 600hp engine, which is 50hp down from the LT4, but idk, i guess it "should" be faster than the C7Z?
Either or, i'm still getting the C8Z lol

I do not discount that
I almost forgot about the Zora. The ZO6 sounds like the most driveable and plenty fast. Nevertheless, they all sound wicked and looking forward to all of them. This might even make more race fans. I want to see the C8.R race in a real race. That sound is crazy.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

The z06's have always been very fast for the dollar, dating back to the C5Z. Of course the ZR1 will be faster but GM "claims" it will have a lower top speed because of all the aero and down force. Even though it'll have more power. I suppose getting to 140-150mph or so will be insanely fast. Then anything after that might hinder the onslaught acceleration. I am curious on the hybrid though. That should be upwards of 150k+ for sure. And might take aim at all the mclarens??
GM definitely took off the gloves for this generation corvette. They are not holding back lol. They are going after every super car. It's so exciting to be apart of it. We welcome all new corvette lovers though

I've owned corvettes for about a decade now.
ZERO problems. ZERO.
Corvettes are like the american s2000's. But better looking and more powerful. They are extremely reliable.
I am heading into my 4th year with my C7Z. All i ever done was oil changes. Car hasn't skipped a beat (knock on wood). And while i don't daily it, when i do take it out i make sure i have my fun.
I will miss this car for sure but i know i'll be jumping into something better when the C8Z arrives.

Below is a quote from the article posted in my previous post. It is the Cadillac Blackwing which has not reached production, yet.

"The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has posted a Nürburgring Nordschleife track time. We just don't know when Chevrolet will release it yet, and the automaker's public relations team doesn't know either."
We don't expect that the 495-hp Corvette (the team certainly ran the 2020 model with the Z51 package) approached either the Lambo's time or the ZR1's 7:04. However, the new 'Vette may have bested the 7:19.68 time of the 650-hp 2012 Corvette ZR1.
We'll likely find out just how quick the 2020 Corvette is on the world's most daunting track in the next couple of months.

Well to be fair, the C7R sounds insane too. And neither the C7Z nor the C7 ZR1 sound like it. That's why it's a race car lol.
But it does sound more exotic than anything. And i thought the LT4 sounded exotic compare to the LS's. But man that sounds crazy good.
Finally GM built a super car. Can't wait to own one! lol

I don't know about that, but the ZO6 C8 might give it a run.
There is a good video in this article:
https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...y-the-numbers/
Aided by its quick-shifting eight-speed dual-clutch automatic—the only transmission available—and a well-calibrated launch-control system, the C8 rips off zero-to-60-mph runs in 2.8 seconds. That's 1.1 seconds quicker than the last C7 Z51 we tested with a manual transmission. The C8 even betters the zero-to-60-mph runs of the quickest 650-hp C7 Z06 and 755-hp C7 ZR1 that we've strapped our test gear to, both of which lose the struggle with grip in low gears. Yes, they are traveling faster than the new Vette by the end of the quarter-mile, which the C8 does in 11.2 seconds at 122 mph, but the point is made: The mid-engine configuration pays off from a standing start.
