If you did all of the above 5 tips, why would you need #6? Unless you need a spotter?

Fact: My first-generation uncle was a boxer who fought Sugar Ray Robinson! He also fought in the war, sacrificing the career he deeply loved, so people could have the right to freedom.

Guess it's so you have someone there to help push you past failure and do heavier weights. Also gives you that feeling of security when working out together and motivating each other on a daily basis to get in the gym and do what needs to be done. I don't workout with anyone anymore so I don't really rely on people as much in regards to that because at the end of the day; it's just you.

Yes, it is just you, in the end. But the gym environment you're in plays a huge role in motivation as well. I've figured this out a while ago.

People seem incredibly laid back and dull in many of these commercial gyms...especially nowadays. Do you find this to be the case, or are you seemingly "unaffected" by the lack of energy and enthusiasm that I see on a regular basis? Just curious...

Ahh honestly no doubt but that's because people's motivation and inspiration of what they're working out for doesn't have that passion in it because majority are just doing it to get attention from girls and not for themselves. I don't see much of it anymore because I usually train about midnight or 4am so it's just me there. Been doing that for a few months and honestly I'm driven by passion, so nothing is dull to me in the gym cause I'm focused on myself.

I get what you're saying. Some dedicated people don't need an energetic environment to feed off of. They can go at odd hours, enjoy the peace and benefit from using whatever equipment without waiting...It seems ideal. Sometimes I am one of those people (dependent on current goals), but more often than not, I seem to thrive in a high-energy, spirited and more hard-core type of gym. I can be completely single-mindedly focused on myself and still internalize a flat and listless environment. I stay where I am and suck it up, because of the equipment this particular gym has..

Thanks for your reply, you awesome Aussie!

I felt I had to broach the subject... with regards to #5 of the "fitness motivational tips":

The following scenario is a common occurrence now in many commercial gyms: having to wait over 20 minutes just to get onto the squat rack...because someone is diddling around on their phone for most of those 15- 20 minutes, sitting on the equipment, resting and relaxing (no need for active recovery and catching their breath either!). They have spent only a few minutes actually working! And they could have used the preset barbells to do their OV presses, instead of taking the squat rack....

I could use many other examples of the same behavior and/ or work ethic in these types of gyms... If I focus on how that makes me feel (#5), well, then I'm very uninspired by the overall vibe I'm feeling and the lack of spirit (in training) I'm seeing. Less than a year ago, phones were rarely used in the training areas. This shift is creating an almost robotic, but definitely dull and lethargic, environment, IMO...

Anyone else feel this way, out of curiosity?
