I mean if you want to buy a house soon or something, like if you rather absolutely 'need' that money in the remote distance future, then sure? it's obviously 100% safe. And unlike checking, at least you're getting that $5k a year.

Not sure on Canadiaville, but US inflation rate is around 2%. So that's hardly beating inflation if anything. So while it's 100% safe, which is great, it's effectively zero actual long term profit. The numbers go higher but so do the costs for literally everything in your country.

Oh that's a killer savings rate for 100% security, absolutely.

But what I'm saying is with that kind of money you should ideally have it working for you, and unless you need it for like a downpayment for a home within the next year or whatever, you should probably be investing. But there's risk in investing, of course, and none with that. But no risk = no reward. But again, that's great savings rate for sure. Just covers inflation which of course is nice (because lol if you're saving $ that doesn't even stay near inflation rate returns, brb losing money for literally nothing).

quick google search shows that Canadia brahs are roughly chillin around 2% as well. https://tradingeconomics.com/canada/inflation-cpi

Lol I get your point but $100 bucks, why bother, collecting that extra $2 in dividends really going to be life changing?

Put $100 in every week (at least) and now we talking as you might have a small fortune in 30 years.

Dividends from a $100 investment won't be life changing.

But if you actually get to the point of properly having that $100 dollars invested(whether it's funds or dividend stocks), that knowledge on how to get there puts you ahead of the wage slaves.

It's sad and alarming to think how many adults have absolutely no clue on how to get started on investing.

its all about building that momentum, but nothing can be built unless you start.

At 2.5 percent there is an argument to be made that you are actually losing money. Inflation is intentionally calculated to be under-reported but assuming the official numbers were real, you are looking at about 2% loss to inflation. THEN you have to pay capital gains taxes on the entire 2.5% "gain".

At best you are just spinning your wheels at 2.5, with no real gain. Real gain begins after 3%. Even a treasury bond might be a better option because although you wont make much more in interest, they are state tax exempt so maybe some advantage there.

You might want to look into some corporate bonds. I buy only good A rated bonds and I'm probably averaging around 4%. I have some paying me 5% or better. These are pretty low risk by investment standards but there is still SOME risk.

peoples issue is thinking like that so they never even start investing at all. then 10 years later they have huge ragrats
You ****in guys like to talk about dividends and then sit here with this bull**** like "your 100 will be 120 by the end of the year" and the reality is that your 100 will be 120 by the end of 6 years if you're not depositing more money and maintaining the account. If you want to talk dividends as a form of actual income you need to be talking about 1000's at a minimum.

these "buy dividend stocks bro" "oh, fk wagecuck look at me I make 3 dollars from my $200 investment" are the equivalent to the teens who think they are going to become the next jeff seid because they are taking protein shake after their workouts. OP probably has $50 worth of investments and thinks that is "passive income".

You have to start somewhere. Anything is better then nothing. And the more you build, the quicker it will compound. You likely need over 500K in a solid fund or funds in order for it to really be an 'income'. But you really just need to get the ball rolling however you can.

I currently have about 95% of my money in the S&P 500 and 1 other stock. I've been averaging around 10-11% returns for a few years now. Makes me really wish I'd have put more in when I was younger.

just LMAO if you're still a money cuck in this day an age. If you depend on money to live then you will always be a bish and a cucked slave of the system. I live in a 100% self sustainable ranch, all energy is self generated, have a well, recycle my sewage water and grow my own food. I have an edible jungle ecosystem that feeds me well.
I don't need "money" or "investments" because i'm not a phucking disgusting slave CUCKOLD the world could collapse tomorrow and I wouldn't give a phuck come the phuck at me. If you're not 100% self sustainable then you're a little bish asS CUCK
When you come to think of it, almost all human behaviour and activity is not essentially any different from animal behaviour. The most advanced technologies and craftsmanship bring us, at best, up to the super-chimpanzee level. Actually, the gap between, say, Plato or Nietzsche and the average human is greater than the gap between that chimpanzee and the average human.

If you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life

Lucky for op what he loves is stealing Netflix and turning tricks at truckstops

Occasionally a bit of mailorder husband thrown in for the big bucks (CAD$10,000)
watch paul hogan movies and eat kangaroo and koala bears and play digiriedoos and throw boomerangs and drive outbacks. So whatever.
