The reason I asked you the question is because I knew you would go to the physical talent route because that's the only thing you can claim Rodgers has over Brady.

Fact is the QB position is the most difficult position in sports not because of the physical traits of a QB but the mental part.

There have been plenty of QBs more physically talented than Brady who did nothing in the NFL.

I understand your narrative falls apart when you look at things like wins, rings and other team accomplishments but it's part of the game.

Do you think Colin Kaepernick is a better QB than Tom Brady? He's certainly more athletic, he certainly has a bigger arm.

Thing is Brady isn't exactly Chad Pennington. His arm may not be a cannon but it has never been a liability either. He can make every throw he needs to make and has done it consistently. His accuracy is also just fine, has a better accuracy than Rodgers the last 4 years...but if you're going to bring up Drew Brees check his accuracy numbers before getting to New Orleans. Brady works constantly to get the ball exactly where he wants it. So what may not look like a very accurate ball to you is exactly where he wants it to go on that specific play.

The way the guy prepares, the way he maneuvers the pocket, reads the field, adjusts his protection and his ability in big games...that's not something that comes along with the physical part of the game.

The Nick Foles comparison is laughable. The guy won on a loaded roster and got hot at the right time just like Joe Flacco. Tom Brady has done this consistently for nearly 20 years.

He has done it with different teams, in different ways and has done it at an age most players fall off the face of the earth.

I guess you don't consider Jerry Rice the greatest WR of all time because he wasn't the fastest, the tallest or the strongest?


It's not even "all the rings" with Brady. The man is top 5 at every QB stat there is. He has the individual accomplishments and the team accomplishments. And like it or not QB is the one position that has the most to do with wins in the NFL.

For the record I don't care about sports misc feuds. I enjoy talking about football because to me it's the best sport out there and I have a ton of respect for every player.

I understand some people love players who show flashy play. Mahomes last year was VERY impressive and he's fun as hell to watch. I know I was certainly super hyped and excited about what Kaepernick was showing early on in his career. But what happened with Kaepernick is also why my respect for what Brady has done has grown so much over the last few years.

Aaron Rodgers is an awesome QB and it drives me crazy that both Brady and Rodgers were die hard 49er fans who were available in the two drafts 49ers were looking for a franchise QB. I would kill to have either one of them on the 9ers right now.

Rodgers' physical talents and his ability as a QB are super impressive. It looks very natural to him and when he's on there are few QBs in the game who are more impressive. But you cannot compare him to Brady when the gap in their careers is so substantial.

I don't think you have to put down one player just so another one looks better. Aaron still has time to climb and elevate his game. His physical talent will always be better than Brady but so was Kaepernick's talent, Jamarcus Russell, RG3, etc...but nobody is going to pretend those guys are better than Brady.

Right now the only guys playing that you can even hint about being in the same ball park as Tom is Drew Brees. But Brees is on his 2nd team after his original team drafted a QB #1 overall, he's played in a dome and had his huge success with Sean Payton an offensive minded HC. That situation certainly leads to good offensive production.

Aaron Rodgers has time left and maybe LaFleur can get him back to playing at an elite level, it remains to be seen.


But these are the facts....

Tom Brady is

4th in NFL History in passing yards and will potentially end up 2nd all time by next season behind Brees
3rd in NFL History in passing TDs and could end up 1st/2nd or stay 3rd by end of next season
4th in NFL History in QB rating
47th in NFL History in Interceptions thrown with 171. Drew Brees is 15th with 233, Peyton is 9th with 251 and Favre is 1st with 336 for comparisons
4th in NFL History in game winning drives - impressive considering how often Pats are winning most of the game
2nd in NFL History in come back wins - ditto as above

That's not even talking about his wins, his playoff success or SB visits/wins.


He spent the early chunk of his career throwing to guys like Troy Brown, David Givens, Deion Branch, Reche Caldwell.

The very first time the Patriots made an effort to give him legit weapons he went on to set NFL records and the team was 1 crazy play by Eli Manning/David Tyree from going 19-0. Who knows what happens in 2008 if he doesn't tear his ACL.

You can argue he's playing his best football right now at an age where most QBs are fishing.


To try to discredit Brady right now is absurd. You can admire QBs like Brees or Rodgers who are both excellent without taking shots at Brady.
