Doing the same exercise twice a day?

Is it good or bad to do the same exercise twice a day?

For example: This morning i hit back and incorporated pull ups in my routine. However i also have a pull up bar at home and later the day i have a lot of energy left. Would it be beneficial to do another 4 sets of pull ups to failure to create more muscle growth or no?

I have a home gym and can do what I want when I want, but time and time again if I do the same exercise later on that day I end up getting an injury.

Bodyweight exercises can benefit from a "grease the groove" approach of multiple sets throughout the day. Most other lifts dont because you still need to recover.

I have a good amount of equipment at home, I often spread workouts out during the day, allows for long rest periods so I can hit things heavier than I would if I did all the sets back to back.

    Calisthenics?

    Sure.

On some days, as well as going to the gym, I sometimes do several sets of 50-70 pushups throughout the day.

Nothing wrong with doing several sets of pull-ups throughout the day...

If you are hitting the weights heavier throughout the day, they were too light to begin with. Thats your problem. Doing more work impairs recovery and leads to greater risk of injury, as you will soon find out.
