I was looking on Amazon for some good hand grips. There are so many to choose from. What brand would you recommend?

In the past I had a CoC Trainer and a 1 which I found easy to close, and a 2. Right now the only CoC I have is the Sport which I use for higher reps because I didn't like the knuckle cracking I started getting with the harder ones. I started getting the cracking when I attempted the 2.
The CoC are better than the plastic spring grippers. For the correct size to buy, it depends on how strong are you now? Do you deadlift or perform any grip work now? I would start with a Trainer (100 lb), "Point five" (0.5, 120lb) or a 1 (140lb).
They aren't really made for high rep work though, its more for training in the low rep range, so if you do a lot of high rep work the spring might wear, albeit slowly, and get easier over time.
The handles are knurled so if you do not want to have a lot of callouses you might want the Zenith model, which I haven't used. The Zenith don't have any knurl and are less resistance than the corresponding CoC. I think the Zenith are more appropriate for higher reps.

LOL, no, no, no. That is a POS, I cranked one all the way up in a sporting goods store and crushed it with two fingers.
COC are the 'standard' and you will find them in grip competition around the world. I have a half dozen or so. If I had it to do over I would buy the Ivanko super gripper to train with and then whatever COC as a goal, I'd say the COC 1.5 is good start.SQ 475# 5/26/17 wraps

I read the Heavy Grip 200 lb is about a COC #1 140lb, and the Heavy Grips spring doesn't last as long before weakening. Theres some other nice looking multispring devices on amazon that look interesting such as the Ivanko, Dometool, Robert Baraban, and CFF pitbull.
edit: In addition to closing the CoC, you can hold them closed for time which is a pretty good grip endurance workout. You can also flip them coil side down or coil side up, or train fingers individually, and perform negatives with them (starting them closed with assistance from your free hand and gradually spread them).Last edited by ampire; 06-10-2019 at 10:03 AM.

Rogue has the COC set with trainer, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 for $92 in 3 ships free. I'm sure you can find some straps or other cheap things you need to throw in for free shipping.
I have this set and am happy with it. My grip strength isn't great so this is still more than enough for me:

Another vote for the Ivanko Super Gripper....more bang for the buck although it does feel slightly different than the Captains of Crush grippers but will develop grip just as well. Regret having got rid of mine after I bought a few CoCs
Get some #84 rubber bands from Staples so you can work finger extensions as well

I have CoC grippers up to #3.
I've been climbing again, so grip strength is important to me. These days, I don't use grippers to train grip strength. If I use them at all, it's to assess where I'm at. On non-climbing days, I do some training on a hangboard.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35
