zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Attendance is part of the grade. This GS team is straight ridiclous btw, if in theory they were healthy. You could argue they have 4 Top 10 players w/ KD, Curry, Klay, Cousins.
Nice balance NBA. The games are fun to watch, but this league is severely broken.Just trying hard to not be a fat sack-o-chit.

Maybe the warriors should have a few asterisks for having faced injured opponents every single year they won.
First Kevin Love and Kyrie are out the finals with injuries.
Then they lose the title after being up 3-1. They bring in KD, wiping out one of the only contending teams with them at the time (the thunder) and adding one of the best players in the world to a 73 win squad.
Then they cheap shot kawhi and **** up his leg after the spurs are up 20 in oracle. (Not really anyone's fault but ZaZa, but it was their team nonetheless). This spawns a series of events that fracture the spurs and weaken yet another contending team at the time. It's actually kinda funny that that injury caused Kawhi to get traded to the raptors and now they are losing to him/them.
Follow this up with Chris Paul going down in the series when the rockets were up 3-2. Don't think the rockets ever really got over this one. Those 27 missed threes will be remembered forever.
They (GS) are an all time great team with all time great players, but they have had some help along the way via luck and foul play and a lot of people simply won't forget it. If Toronto wins you can believe people will put an asterisk next to it, as they should. If KD and Klay both miss games then it's a cake walk and Toronto should easily win. Hell, Curry just nearly dropped 50 and they still got beat down. It's not possible to win it alone anymore and it realistically never was. Toronto is a hell of a squad and it's a shame that these injuries happened because if the raptors win this will be held against them even though it's not their fault. The reality is it's much easier to beat a team when their best player doesn't play and their third best player misses time.

Honestly ... no...
Look what Warriors have:
2x Unanimous MVP, best shooter of all time - Stephen Curry
All-Star Center, avged 25 points 13 board during its prime - Demarcus Cousins.
DPOY, All-Star Foward, versatile 2 way player, triple double machine- Draymond Green.
2015 FMVP, All-NBA defensive first team, all star - Andre Iguodala.
2005 first round number 1 draft pick, blocks leader, All-NBA Center - Andrew Bogut.AND1

06-05-2019, 11:54 PM #19Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

It's the nature of sports. Toronto are playing hard. Who's to say they still wouldn't win with GS being in the shakiest state during their 3peat. Who's to say that because Toronto are playing so hard, they forced Klay to play hard thus increasing the likelihood of injury. Who's to say Toronto aren't the more prepared and well coached team in regards to their conditioning. It's still a mighty effort to beat Philly, Bucks and now possibly GS considering these teams have future and ex-mvps, DPOYs and FMVPS. Some people always want to marginilise accomplishments.
Asterisk this, asterisk that, it's all bullchit and the only thing that matters is the name on the trophy at the end of year.

Some good points in the thread
winning championships is every bit as luck/circumstance as it is being a good team. Sometimes the dice rolls your way, sometimes it doesn't. This time it just happens to roll against the Warriors.
Their first championship Kyrie and Love pretty much out the whole series. CP0 went down in the Rockets series and could have probably won that if it wasn't for that. Kawhi going down in the WCF.
People might put an asterisk on this championship but over time people forget. Like how Nate MacMillian went down in the Sonics/Bulls series. How the Kings got absolutely fuked by the refs against the Lakers in the WCF. The Rockets literally missing half their team against the Lakers in 09 in the WCF I believe?
winning a championship puts you in history, winning two championships proves that the first one wasn't a fluke, the third one proves you are one of the most dominant dynasties in that era and in NBA history.

It is easier to beat a team when their best player doesn't play. KD was out before the series began. Imagine if Kawhi was out and the raptors lost, you don't think people would say to GS fans, "congrats, but the raptors' best player didn't play". The trophy is real and nobody is saying it's Toronto's fault. It's luck and timing. The Raptors earned their spot and if they do end up winning they are the champs 100%. The warriors have benefited from luck many times and you are right, this is the nature of sports. But please don't act like you're not allowed to dig deeper and look at the true specifics of outcomes/games we're interested in at the time they occur. Sure, nobody will remember what happened 20 years from now and the banner will be all that matters, but sports fans who are actually paying attention right here and now know that KD is out and that it matters greatly.

Not big on asterisks. Other than the truly dominant one-loss runs like 2017 GS or 2001 LA, you can play the what-if game with any title.
If anything, people should look at the context and not hate on Curry as much if they lose. Same with most of Lebron's losses other than 2011.Minnesota Vikings - Dallas Mavericks - Washington Wizards - Bayern Munich
