I like to skip rope at least a couple times a week for 20 minute sessions. Good cardio and way less boring than regular running.
This is one is with a speed rope
And then this one is with a heavier rope, which makes things are lot tougher and fatiguing.

AJ...Nice footwork...Good work!
I religiously skip rope during my warm ups, and sometimes in some metcons, but just basically singles, usually 2-3 sets of 100-200. I have tried double-unders the odd time but but got nowhere. I would like to do some of that footwork you do, that has to be very beneficial in athletic coordination for sure. Your skipping is on a separate day? Please record my time/reps if I pass out

I usually skip rope for 20 minutes after my leg day and then usually 20 minutes before one of my back/abs days.
I'm actually decent at double-unders if I start trying to do them right in away in my routine, but they are tough once you are fatigued after skipping for a while (as seen in the vids).

I know they endorsed the crossrope brand at one point and they make the best stuff. Believe it or not, the rope makes a world of difference.
In my opinion, once you learn the "boxer skip" -- you can pretty much do anything. It's tough though. All rhythm and feel.

Looking lean and agile AJ. I too like the jump rope but I just don't spend enough time with it. It does do a very good job of getting the heart rate up quickly. I am always surprised by how quickly my heart rate jumps with what I perceive as little effort to get it that high in relation to other cardio things I do.

Great job. Skipping is way harder than it looks.

Thanks bro. Find a good tune to play while doing it and count your steps to it. All about a rhythm.
Thanks man.
I come from a fighting background when I was way younger, so did it a bit back then as youth. I got back into it as an adult about 3 years ago. I was REALLY rusty to say the least. Not to mention way heavier than now in body weight.
Practice makes perfect, brah. Like I said previously, I'll do two 20 minute sessions per week. So 40 minutes total. But I have been doing that consistently for close to 3 years now. Even in the winter time here in MN in my garage.
Well, still sitting right at 210.0 on the nose. So not quite as lean as I want to be YET. One thing is for sure, I always feel 10 FEET TALL when Kimm gives me props!

Impressive for sure! But how many takes did you need for each video (joking....).
I have never jumped rope in my life and bought one for warm-ups but can’t make it to a minute before I get tangled up in my shorts and crash into a heap on the floor. Ok maybe not that bad but it wasn’t pretty and I went back to just warming up with jumping jacks even though I should take the time to learn.Bodybuilding is much more than an hour in the gym a few days a week---it's a lifestyle that changes all your perceptions about how to live, eat, and rest. It feeds the mind as much (and sometimes more so) than the body.

Those were the 2nd and 3rd vids I took, but only because I accidentally deleted the first one. LOL.
Like I mentioned earlier, once you get the "boxer's skip" rhythm down--it's all downhill. You don't really think of it as even "jumping" anymore.Epic Beard Man crew

I don't know, I did manage to drop $65 on that heavy rope and than another $50 for couple of the speed ropes. But they actually will last if you use a little runner mat like in the vid. I went through my first one in about year when I was just jumping rope on my cement patio before though. Thing got eaten up.

Outstanding AJ!, on spread
I got the boxer step down now, but still screw it up around 30 singles on average though, my elbows/wrists sometimes wander out of position.
Any tips on the crossovers? I also cant start yet with the rope doing orbits one side or the other, still have to bring it over my head...any tips there would be great
Thanks for the vid. Please record my time/reps if I pass out

Biggest tip I can give is just lots of PRACTICE. When started incorporating this into my workouts around 4 years ago--I had trouble with just regular basic two foot singles. Biggest issue was being so flat-footed (I was weighing around 245 then). For crossovers--your natural tendency is to want to concentrate on it which inevitably slows down the rope. So maintaining your rope speed is super important, it needs to be fast. Stay on your toes at all times. Make sure your feet are touching together when you attempt the cross. Certain moves are easier with lighter or heavier ropes too. Also, if you are in relatively good cardiovascular shape and are finding yourself severely out of breath skipping rope--you likely aren't doing it right and are being too heavy on your feet/jumping too high. Find your rhythm and your feet should barely be leaving the ground (unless doing something like double-unders, obviously). I do 20 minutes a couple times a week and while I am break a massive sweat--I'm not huffing and puffing like you might for a job or sprint.
