Maybe it's just me, but I prefer the smaller Zelda's such as Link's Awakening and even Ocarina of Time compared to the larger, open-world BOTW.

On the subject of collector's editions:
- $200
- The PC Version of the game will come with a printed code and the code is redeemable on Bethesda.net.
Get the actual fukk out of here, Bethesda. Nobody wants your sh*te launcher, you bell ends.
- Cat helmet - joking aside regarding Halo 3 memories, this is apparently full sized at least. The whole "get a helmet!" thing feels like a meme at this point, practically suggesting the person buying needs a safety helmet because it's pretty lackluster, borderline dumb, especially in a series like Doom with far more iconic items *cough chainsaw cough*. All the more so after Fallout 76 set a recent enough precedent for the degree of helmet quality control one can expect from Bethesda
Seriously, what the hell are you going to do with a video game helmet, wear it as part of a Halloween costume? Well for $200, hell no. And at least you can give the COD night vision goggles credit for being functional. - Lore/art book - I'm a sucker for these when they're good, but again, I'd have to see what it looks like because the picture makes it look kind of skinny. Also, points would naturally be docked if by "art," they mean black and white pencil sketches (again, based on the image).
- Lithograph - Cool print and all if you're into that sort of thing and have the place to put it (I do not).
- Cassette tape for soundtrack - But why? I get it, 90s nostalgia, but it might as well be a paperweight because nobody has a goddamn cassette player in 2019.
- Digital Soundtracks for Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal - I mean... that's like, the least they can fukking do when CdProjektRed includes them in the standard editions. Are the music files in the game? Do I own the game? Then it should be as easy as copy + paste. And I'm only being a cynical bastard here because Bethesda still managed to fukk up the glorious Doom soundtrack because it is not the full OST:
^In typical fashion, a fan has to do Bethesda's job.
- Doom Eternal Year One Pass - two single-player campaign expansions. At least they learned that single player was the star of the show.
- Demonic Slayer Skin - Are we really doing this now? And this is what you qualify as a "bonus" for a two-hundred-fukking-dollar edition? That's at most a "Pre-order the standard edition at Gamestop" level bonus.
- Classic Weapon Sounds - Paid mods Again, though, let me introduce you to copy + paste, Bethesda.
Still, at least the game looks goddamn amazing, which puts its head and shoulders above, say, the Gears 5 Collector's Edition:
Spoiler!
As if we needed any more proof that The Coalition are completely out of touch, their CE has some goddamn drone from the game. A bloody drone, of all things from Gears of War - 'the fukk outta here.
See, the Cyberpunk 2077 CE is "only" $250, but I seriously was not compelled one bit to get it despite how awesome the actual game looks. It's just a bunch of random faff surrounding a very underwhelming statue, and I say this as someone who owns the PS4 Witcher 3 Collector's Edition despite not owning a bloody Playstation. And don't get me wrong, if they do what they did with the Witcher 3 CE where everyone signed the box, that is pretty damn cool on its own.
Anyway, that gameplay looks like a damn dream! I've always wanted to play FF7, but I abhor turn based combat, and this new system looks like the perfect hybrid to capture a wide appeal that still maintains a necessary level of strategy that was lacking in FFXV.
My only hope is that the rumored "debuts first" for PS4 means that an eventual PC version will be on the way.
They've been overcompensating for Wolfenstein since The New Colossus because the games went to sh*t after a lucky break with TNO/TOB.
I mean, no sh*t about killing Nazis - we all have the tacit understanding that this is what we're all signing the hell up to do in the first place in a Wolfenstein game. The general obsession with parading how "woke" a game/movie/show is these days is the real life equivalent to the satirical [insert "remember 9/11"] ploy to get people on board with anything said. Except these dipchits are actually spouting this nonsense despite it bearing zero relevance to their actual target markets, appealing to a few cotton candy kunts on Twitter and games journalists; it's like a steakhouse trying to appeal to vegans.
The problem is that they sure talk a big game, but the actual game itself is utter dogsh*t. Wolfenstein 2 was so bad that MachineGames is on my permanent sh*t-list, singlehandedly undermining everything right its two predecessors did - and this was after Doom 2016! It's like MachineGames had a template for how to make an incredible, new-old-school shooter, and they completely cocked it up in every respect with TNC. The story was rubbish, the characters all became insufferable twats, and the gameplay was season 8 Tyrion Lannister's idea of compromise: stealth fans left unhappy and guns-a-blazing fans left unhappy for one miserable experience.
And now their idea of amends for that slipshod excuse of a full priced game that hardly warranted a twenty is to completely sideline BJ Blaskowicz for two even more insufferable, edgelord, children?!? Between this and COD, how cucked is the game industry with this playing as little girls in highly violent, adult-oriented games?
2REDEYE's right: Japan, and I'll add CDProjektRed, are our only saving grace for video games, prioritizing making fun entertainment over a gutless, vapid product.I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine

It's funny how many thots you see wandering around E3 now, vlogging and live streaming on their selfie sticks. I've been watching a lot of footage from the E3 floors and it's e-girl central, raking in on all that exposure and money from the neckbeard community I'm sure.
I'm not even talking about cosplayers, since that is actually legit, but just how many girls who look like they just walked out of Chaturbate wandering around and vlogging the conference. Mini skirts, knee high boots, tube tops, selfie stick = ez money.

this is what I imagine western dev companies are like at business meets "OK well then, how can we create something that will generate income?" while devs in Japan, don't give a **** and they want to realize their dreams because they're actually PASSIONATE about what they work on. they don't give a **** if the world criticizes them. lol. there's a **** ton of us that love japanese games. you can look at anime, people make anime and manga because they're passionate about what they write, most anime and manga are colossal financial failures, but they still do it because they love it. same with cdprojektred and larian. passionate in what they do.

Pretty excited for Links Awakening. Graphics look great, it maintains the feel of the original and my daughter is super stoked for it so I'll be able to play with her no problem. I know people complain about remakes/remasters but nothing like sharing those childhood memories with your kids.
Jedi Fallen Order doesn't look like total garbage, so I'll keep an eye on it.
Cyberpunk is an obvious pre-order, although I'm a bit disappointed with the CE, so I'm gonna save a few bucks on that.
Looking forward to Wasteland 3, also Phantasy Star Online 2 ?!??!?!?! ok and Elden Ring

I'm with most miscers, I hope Cyberpunk changes the game and puts these other companies on notice. I just hope the hype isn't too much to fulfill.
As far as Wolfenstein goes, I only played Wolfenstein 2009 and loved it for the setting (like most probably do). And I think this is simply a case of a franchise being borderline hijacked for ideological purposes, as has happened in movies. Rather than staying true to the IP.
Sticking to the formula that made the game popular - what a fukin concept.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω

Seriously.
I love dark, medieval fantasy games, but you know who has made the best one? FROM, a developer from Japan. How can a Japanese developer school these twats?
Anime is another great example because while I don't watch very much myself, I'm aware enough to see how the Japanese are more than willing to make almost entirely Western-themed anime shows without making it some pandering crock or a social justice incident. They just think, "hey, medieval German architecture and knights are pretty cool!"
TNO was the perfect setting and they should have stopped there because they keep trying to take Wolfenstein towards this ugly, uninspired "vision" of first the '60s in TNC, and now the '80s. By the third game in the main series, they'll probably have it somehow taking place in the alt-2000s.
It's not only the timeframe that they completely butchered, but TNC takes place in the US, a setting that the developers clearly have fukk-all understanding of how to make remotely interesting like the alternative history take on a post-WWII Europe. Apparently MachineGames only ideas for "iconic" locales are
(1) a nuked New York that looks like they reused some of Bethesda's Fallout assets,
(2) underground military bunkers that could be anywhere for how little they matter,
(3) a tiny slice of Texas around a farm for one side mission and - I sh*t you not - a walking simulator segment,
(4) inside a US courtroom for a dream sequence
(5) Roswell, New Mexico for a another walking simulator segment and a nighttime side mission
(6) Fukking New Orleans, because nothing says 1950s-60s Americana like... what?!?
Oh, and you go to Venus, which has none of the charm or novelty of the Moon mission in TNO, existing for literally no reason than to have a mission on another planet and shoehorning in a miserable mechanic that has you die if you don't cool your suit down at stations.
The level design was so bad that I easily spent more time walking in circles, especially in the New York levels, because everything looks identical. Even the season pass was apparently just the same areas repurposed for completely different characters for a "simulation" that has zero impact on the actual story.
The New Colossus is so bad that it isn't worth the bandwidth to torrent.
Now by the looks of Wolfenstein XX Chromosomes (I honestly forgot what it was called and couldn't be arsed to look it up), they've also been hijacked by AAA industry bullsh*t: enemies now have health bars, you have to grind upgrades for your guns, and there is an in-game microtransaction store for, you guessed it, buying the upgrades flat out.
As awful as The New Colossus was in every respect compared to its predecessors, the one thing it did have somewhat going for it is that you could take down enemies relatively quick - so long as you were good. Headshots pretty much took down regular soldiers and did the expected extra damage to anything hardier, but this new game threw that little saving grace out the window in favor of turning everything into bullet sponges.
It's actually kind of ironic because despite the protagonists still using guns at the end of the day, two little girls can't even use bullets as well as Blasko.
As much as I loved the original Xbox at the time, and the 360 for the first third-ish of its lifespan, I personally grew to resent the direction (or lack thereof) Microsoft was taking with the system because it basically became the Halo console. What if you don't like Halo? Um... too bad?
Gears of War was a breath of fresh air, but that franchise has gone to sh*t under a new developer studio, and the only other high profile exclusive I hear anything about is Forza. Again, what if you don't like racing games? Too bad again?
The only credit I can give them is that they are only just now investing in new IPs after such a remarkably long time for it to sink it that the Xbox has been little more than a multiplatform player and glorified Roku. Likewise, their willingness to throw in the towel on Microsoft Store exclusivity for the PC is something I can personally benefit from, especially with their rekindled interest in Age of Empires.
Nevertheless, I'm not particularly interested in anything that they've brought to the table or hinted towards with their new studios on boards. The Outer Worlds could become a new IP for them, but it somehow still manages to have so much apparent jank that it's shocking to see it not be a Bethesda title. Ninja Theory is pushing out some 4vs4 cringe-fest hero fighter, and Rare is probably still Microsoft's company bitch, forced to support a pirate game that will garner zero gratitude for their obligatory updating. And Conker and Banjo-Kazooie are still somehow a joke to them, despite being easy sells. Xbox exclusivity feels more like a limit on potential sales and catering to overhead, corporate demands versus using the licenses to their maximum potential.Last edited by nkiritsis13; 06-13-2019 at 01:35 PM.

I personally thought the only good reason to get an xbox is for halo. there's like no other reason. but the halos they made after halo 3 were utter failures. and so no point to having an xbox anymore. the only game i played on xbox 360 was halo 3 because the multiplayer was ****ing legit. but after that initial period. the thing was trash. plus my 360 died after a year RROD. dumbass piece of equipment. it didn't even have an hdmi port or wireless connection. just for that only people should have stopped buying that piece of **** and supporting it. "oh yeah the xbox 360 breaks after like a year, but it's okay because it's xbox" lmao "oh yeah the xbox 360 doesn't have an hdmi port and u have to buy the wireless adapter, but it's okay, it's only another $300 for a new model and the wireless adapter is only $100." i had someone buy it for my christmas, would never have touched the thing if it wasn't for free.

My biggest issue with Halo was that they had three games where they insisted upon involving the Flood, and not a single time did they manage to make them remotely enjoyable to fight compared to the Covenant. Even the Covenant were overtaken by annoying Brutes, who were just ludicrous bullet sponges in two, and nothing but Elite stand-ins in three.
But the Flood always remained, soaking up bullets, plasma, explosives, but never being all that entertaining to kill... just irritating. The best comparison of how they should be to fight against is the new Doom games: pure ripping and tearing as the Master Chief. From an overall design standpoint, I really wish they were more interesting and horrific, like the Infected Terran in Starcraft or the Nurgle Chaos Space Marines from Warhammer 40k.
Naturally, Reach was easily my favorite campaign since the non-Flood half of Halo CE, although that was still a criminally short game that was thankfully just a rental.
Now, Halo 3's multiplayer experience is what should have been the status quo for Xbox Live games. As much as I loved Gears of War 1's multiplayer, that was when it worked, and I had moved on from playing multiplayer well after when they could be arsed to provide proper servers for the series.
As you can imagine, then, without the multiplayer component factoring into my interests, Halo is pretty much a big shrug for me. As nice as it would be to relive that first time playing Halo CE, I can't help but look at the new direction of Doom and see that as far surpassing anything Halo could ever hope to achieve for singleplayer satisfaction.
Especially now that everything is not just going to the PC, but to Steam on the PC. Even Windows 10 can rot because the Windows Store's reliance upon update versions is inane when Microsoft can't figure out how to make them remotely reliable. I'm still on some older version and outright refuse to update at this point because I expect my PC to "Just work," something that is anathema to Windows Update.
So if I can just buy "Xbox" games on Steam that are always going to look and perform better and not be tied to a $60/year multiplayer service, what really is the point of an Xbox while Sony and Nintendo are still around?I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
