GoPros site right now is "$100 off" for the 8; which is just retail everywhere else. However, they also throw in an extra battery and a small SD card. Their price includes sales tax so it's not too bad. I'll just need a helmet mount and a mount or two for the bike. I was looking at the 7s local, but I'd maybe save $50 off one.

Thread is dead but sharing anyway.
Sold my 2019 KTM Super Duke GT and bought a 2020 BMW S1000XR. 3rd different bike I've owned in a 12 month period. I definitely have a problem. Hopefully this scratches the itch for awhile. Miss the mid range punch from the torque delivery of the KTM but the BMW is night and day better at two-up, quickshifter is way better, more comfortable, better bags, better TFT display too.
And not quite a fair comparison yet because the SDGT had a decat, complete aftermarket intake, and Brentuning ECU flash. The BMW goes in on a Monday to get a dyno run and remap. No aftermarket parts yet because there aren't any available. But a remap with remove all the lame factory restrictions found in a Euro5 bike. (Any modern ride by wire sport bike is going to have some throttle restrictions and exhaust valve nonsense at certain gears/rpms) Retune should be good for 10hp 5-10ft/lbs in certain RPM ranges.

Because I can. Haha. Bikes are just an expensive hobby for me.
When you have owned as many fast bikes as I have you eventually stop chasing pure performance figures. The H2 was stupid fast but basically useless on the street. It didn't handle a whole lot better than the ZX14R, sucked at two-up, and was so absurdly powerful that I spent more time trying watch my speed because NH has an absurd amount of state police posted along our highways and considers 100mph enough to impound. In a wide open state with longer roads and less police it would be a hoot but not great for my riding style.
The KTM was a better bike all around but I hated the short gearing...and then hilariously tall 6th gear. Anything under 90mph in 6th and the vibration was supremely annoying. Suspension was not great at two-up even with the electronic adjustment. Bags felt cheap and wouldn't fit a helmet. Quickshifter was finicky and would occasionally fail to engage the next gear depending on gear/rpm/throttle application. If the quickshifter was cleaned up it would be an excellent solo bike but the suspension just wasn't up to par for two up. Very cool bike, but lacking in a few areas for what I was looking for in a commuter/part time weekend warrior.
Everything about the BMW is more refined. Quickshifter is the best I have ever used, suspension is night and day better and two up is effortless. The bags are much nicer and accommodate my XL full face helmet. The torque of the KTM's vtwin was amusing but the inline 4 feels so much more refined. If I could afford a second bike as a solo machine I would strongly consider a Super Duke R.
ZX14's are dirt cheap. If I wanted one I would buy one but I've had two and it's just dated at this point. They're good at one thing...highway romps. Modern adventure sports like the XR and SDGT, and soon Ducati's incoming Multitrada V4 are upright superbikes with touring amenities. You give up very little performance for all day comfort and the practicality that comes with all the quick detach hard luggage.
That said, I'm still a performance nerd so the BMW is sitting at Brentuning this week to assist them in developing their ECU flash for the new generation XR.

So I got a Multistrada on Riders Share for a few days. Been hanging with the track bros and blasting through Colorado. This is the older base model 1200 multi but it rips and hangs with the sport bikes no problem. Cruise control is a wonderful thing and no bike should come without it.

Let me know how the SD GT and the XR compare after you’ve owned it a while. Im set to demo a new XR next. In the spring it will probably come down to a Pikes Peak (1260 would be fine but I’m waiting to see the V4 in the multi), the XR, or the GT. It’s quite fun slaying sportbikes in the canyons and then looking inconspicuous as you accidentally blast by cops.

Lowsided in a curve last week. Broken my back, strained ACL, broken condyle at the end of the femur, and a tear. If I didn't have all my armor I'd either be paralyzed or dead because I flew down an enbankment and hit a tree. Doctors said I'm super lucky to have been out with only these injuries. Wear all your gear folks.
Uhm...Pretty depressed right now having to put my family and friends through all this **** because they are all devastated. No surgery required as of right now because I MIGHT be able to heal in a brace given my young age but nothing is certain right now. Gonna be a long recovery process but it could be ALOT worse so for that I'm very grateful.HTC

I honestly don't have a clue. The moment I leaned it over the back slipped out. It was in the mountains so I'm gonna assume there was gravel that I didn't see because I was going at a really quick pace. Not gonna lie, speed was a factor. If I was going anywhere near speed limit, this wouldn't have happened.

I assume nicer helmets will do better at higher speeds?
I won't lie, a few years ago when I had my cruisers I never wore a helmet. Now I'm married and I like to say a little wiser. I picked up a Bell Qualifier for $90 the day I bought my Z650 which was a little over a month ago now. The place I purchased from didn't have a whole lot on hand at the time, but the Bell fit like a glove compared to what else there was in stock. Up at highway speeds... it's just not comfortable. Feels like it's all over the place and literally feels like it wants to come off my head doing 80+.Being anti-2nd Amendment is like saying "We have too many rights, please take some away!"
