I'm not advocating for fuking your cousin. I'm saying that first cousin marriages aren't as genetically bad as most people think. It's about as bad as a woman having a kid between 45 and 50. That's really not terrible. It's suboptimal, but it isn't the end of the world. Just because something is an American cultural taboo doesn't mean it is rooted in some sort of biological fact. It's a false dichotomy to believe someone either supports cousin fuking or thinks it's the worst thing ever. You can look at it rationally from a biological pov and understand its drawbacks. It also might confer advantages in some situations, which is why, evolutionarily, it has existed for some time in our species.

Literally everything I said ITT is valid if you are open to thinking critically and not allowing your biases to cloud your judgment on the issue.

Anyway, it's obviously better to not fuk your cousin given the choice in the vast majority of situations. I am guessing that in societies where the advantage of strong familial stability outweighs the drawback of reduced genetic diversity in terms of fitness, you would see more cousin marriages, from an evolutionary POV. To maximize diversity, it is, obviously, better to not have cousin marriages. But, I'm saying that based on what people have researched, it has demonstrated that it isn't as awful as one might think, taboo or not.

I also reminded people that cousin marriages were common in America for quite some time, and we don't even have a national ban on them. Many states still allow them.

Finally, almost everyone alive today is eventually descended from a cousin marriage.

I mean there is no logical reason people should be required to speak english. We have mute and deaf people in this country who use ASL. There are plenty of economic incentives to learn english already. We even have mandatory public education for children, and english is a required subject. You just want to put the cherry on top.
