    Body Masters CXp Series Thread

I am starting this thread about Body Masters CXp machines for archiving purposes and easy Google searching.

I am not sure what the series letters stand for; but, I was told that the P stands for Plate-loaded.

There are only 5 models in the CXp line:

    1. Lat Pulldown CXp 712
    2. Seated Row CXp 713
    3. Chest Press CXp 762
    4. Incline Chest Press CXp 764
    5. Shoulder Press CXp 780

    Standard CXp Series Features:

    - Independent coverging/diverging arm movement simulates free-weight dumbbell press
    - Swiveling handles for comfortable hand positioning throughout range of motion
    - Sealed rotary bearings for low maintenance and smooth, quiet operation
    - Polished slip tubing with self lubricating bushing on seat/pad adjustments
    - Heavy duty stainless steel weight horns accomodate heavy loads
    - Bent tubing frames for greater stability and aesthetic appeal
    - Chrome plated lifting arms with TeflonTM coated rod ends
    - Low profile stainless steel weight horns for easy loading
    - Optional weight storage on most models

Next I'll make a separate post for each model with specs, downloadable pdf instruction manual (at the very bottom of the each post) and a picture.

The downloadable pdf files are for easy printing and hanging next to your machines.

Yes, I would like eventually to acquire all 5 machines. I just wanted to post this information as it's not readily available. Hopefully people would save these machines and recondition them.

I've tried both the Seated Row and the Incline Press in the CX line which is the selectorized version of these machines. I've never tried the CXp machines, but can't imagine they are that much different. I think the CX (and more than likely the CXp) lines are some of the best machines ever made.

Hopefully Body Masters will come to productive existence again. I wonder if Knight Oil Tools intend on keeping Body Masters and re-launching it some day or sell it. Seeing what Roque is doing with Nebula, I hope it won't end up in Roque's hands.

I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if I can get a better deal. Considering freight It's too pricey for me right now. Most likely I'll just pass.

I would love to try that incline press. I saw the one on ebay a couple weeks ago and it looked like a pretty good deal at the price they were asking. I have had my eyes peeled for these too.

L for Linear makes sense since there are only two models in LXp series: Hack Squat and Leg Press. And both use guide rods.

Interestingly, FullCirclePadding has both series under one category. Maybe they were designed as one series and named differently to make easy distinction between upper body and lower body machines.

Just got off the phone with UsedGymEquipment's sales rep. They sold those three pieces a couple of weeks ago. Apparently information on their website is not updated promptly.

I had to pass on two different CXP shoulder presses, at favorable prices, this year because I was not in position to go get them for various reasons.

I had the row and sold it

    Still have the pulldown.

I love the CXP line, I recently sold the incline chest press to a local guy that has bought a few rare items like this from me. It was AWESOME and gave my upper chest the craziest pump. It is extremely overbuilt too, there arent many 460 LB plate loaded machines out there but this is one of them! A real bear to move.

Edit, and I just bought the weight stack version of the chest press and its awesome too. Here is a pic:

I was thinking about selling the row. Just couldn't make myself part with it. It's in the storage collecting dust.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the incline chest. Really curious to get reviews on the shoulder press, and how it stacks up against Panatta plate-loaded deltoid machine.

    .

I was reading old news about Body-Masters going out of business and found out that Knight Tools got Body-Masters facility after they failed to pay 2008 city taxes of $6,200. Property was seized. My understanding KT raided BM for their facility and equipment. I wish Star Trac took over BM instead since there was relationship between two companies. I guess Body-Masters Financials were a mess even after the Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.

I have the selectorized shoulder press version (cx 280) and it is a real smooth machine. It is an older version with pre stretch foot pedal which the more recent versions don't have. The seat angle and convergence really hits the shoulders better than any other shoulder press I have used. I would love to find an incline chest

One of the features I really like in the CX and CXp line is the swiveling handles. They allow natural wrist rotation similar to gymnastics rings, reducing unnecessary stress on the wrist and hand joints.
