    Belt Squat Belt Discussion

Since a bunch of people are in the process of receiving Canadian belt squat setups, I figured a single thread about belts was in order. I was able to find 5 possibilities and am leaning towards either the Rogue or Spud myself.

    The contenders:

I just got the Rogue one. Seems very well made and wayyy more comfortable than the spud. Can update more as time goes on.

I have the Rogue one listed but haven't used it yet. At first glance I like the adjustability of having different loops, but haven't tried it to confirm. At the same time, the belt looks very long. Tomorrow is leg day for me, maybe I'll do a quick test.

I've only owned/used a spud one. It is quite stiff and the ends are melted so it's pretty sharp there which may cause some discomfort at the hips for some. It gets better with time however.

Good thread. Interested in more reviews of the Rogue Multi Belt. Otherwise I'll likely go with the Spud.

This is what i am worried about Rogue one. The pad it self is 36" long. Even though different loops are excellent option , is 36" too long for waist line of say 32 " to 33" ( depending on the day of course). I prefer snug fit not too tight .

Based on Mech's feedback on the belt in his thread, i am heavily leaning towards the Rogue one.

I've also got a dip belt that's the other end of the spectrum..... I have used it with a loading pin before, and instead of 36" it's more like 18"-24" with the dip chain running along the inside of my legs. It's uncomfortable, but doesn't stop me from using it in the past. Out of curiosity, I'll try to compare the two in the morning tomorrow.

I have the Spud belt squat belt and I'm happy with it. I also had the Spud dip belt already and tried it before ordering the BS belt. The dip belt is VERY uncomfortable for belt squats.

The multi-belt is awesome. I have two of them from when they were made by squatmax. The ones made by rogue are apparently a little firmer, but not much.

FYI dip belt cannot (or should not - unless you like discomfort and pain) be used for belt squats. A belt squat belt likely can be used for dips though I never really thought about it. Spud dip belt is great and my go to. Based on Mech's comments and GamecockLifter I'm leaning toward Rogue also.

I have the Brute and IronMind belts. The main benefit of both is that they come in different sizes so you can choose the option that best fits your body. In terms of comfort the IronMind belt has the advantage, although I find the Brute more easier to use.

So I used the Rogue belt this morning.... initial thoughts.

Comfort, the belt is foam padded and is comfortable to use. It is a very light weight belt. Side against your body is soft, the outside part feels like it might have something like a stiff paper board or something to help stiffen it up. Squatting was comfortable, the only real thing to consider is durability. It looks well made, but it's not like a 13mm leather squat belt..... so I think it remains to be seen how well it holds up to some normal usage. Some concerns about the 36" belt length were in my head.... but in actual use, I didn't see or feel any problems with the length.

I would say that the Spud products I've used would have ZERO concerns about durability. I've got ab straps and RH strap, and they are without question, a lifetime product. Not sure I can really say the same about the Rogue belt. I don't think you can really go wrong with either.

The Spud belt squat belt comes in 2 sizes, unless things have changed recently.

Damn,, these are look nice . But today I tried with my Spud inc belt from RH. Way better than iron mind.

Initially I used Omega Carabiner with top hole . But was not satisfied with the depth . Changed it to center hole of the hook. Still was not satisfied with the depth. So changed the carabiner to regular one that came with Spud inc straps . Was able to hit just below parallel.

I have shot femur for my height.

I am almost of convinced to get Spud inc one ( Yellow one this time) but now edge fitness looks even better to hit the depth.

Today I had time for set up but I don't think I am big fan of the set up with the Jammer arms.

Might have to go with Mech's "dedicated set up " . Pivot and the arm.

Make your own with an about 4 foot long and 2 inch thick nylon lifting strap, 2 carabiners and some welded chain. Cheap and strong. The lifting strap is actually what Rouge based their design off.

I have Rogue's in house and waiting for the belt squat from Mech (it's shipped so just holding on customs and mail). Will report back but looks really nice and comfy. I'm of the mind of home gym/very limited use compared to commercial, I'd be willing to sacrifice some longevity for comfort.

My daughters boyfriend has the Rogue Lever belt. Very nice belt and I would give it a good consideration when purchasing a new one. I heard a rumor that Pioneer makes that belt for Rogue. I have the Mark Bell ST Belt. It's a nice belt but way to flimsy. I prefer a stiffer feel.

I ended up buying the Rogue. Much more comfortable than trying to use a dip belt. With heavy weight it does pinch very slightly around the hips at the bottom of the motion, but overall quite pleased.

Exactly my experience. I'm hoping the pinching will go away as it breaks in a bit. Otherwise, it is quite comfortable.
