    Concerts this yr.

Busy yr for concerts as i'm trying to see groups that are aging before they die off. Already saw Kiss last month and that concert was epic. Ron White a few weeks ago isn't a concert but it was still a good time. Billy Joel is next in a few weeks at Miller Park, then we were scheduled to see Ozzy at Summerfest but he postponed every concert this yr & I fear he may not last much longer. Replaced him with Sammy Hagar in Minnesota in May then we have Billy Idol in Vegas later this yr followed up the next night with a Criss Angel show. Wanted to see the Stones at Soldier Field but wasn't willing to spend $300+ per ticket.

Anyone else hitting up shows this year?

I go to 80 or so shows a year, all smaller venue and mostly local/regional acts. At this point in my life I much more enjoy the smaller settings and there aren’t too many musicians I really need to see with 25,000+ other people.

I'm an anti-social, introvert who hates crowds and live music.

I have however just bought tickets for my wife and her friend to go see Stereophonics.

My money goes on vacations - Tenerife, *****, Bangkok and Phuket booked for this year.

Went and saw Weezer/Pixies last year which was really cool. Was hoping (locally) we'd have more of that era musicians coming locally but none that I've seen. It was my first concert We have an active concert venue up this way in NY so the options are pretty good.

I'm going to Countryfest with a huge group of people again this year in Cadott, WI. Sugarland, Luke Bryan, Little Big Town, among others over the weekend. I'm not a huge country fan, but love the camping, hot weather, and of course the opportunities to take the shirt off in a public setting.

Lots of young punks there to put in their place too. LOL.

    So far this year:

    All That Remains/Attilla
    Metallica
    Children of Bodom
    Hatebreed/Obituary/Cro-Mags (last night)
and a couple small-time metal bands that are essentially nobodies in the grand scheme of things despite being known worldwide in small capacity.

    Next month:

    Killswitch Engage/Parkway Drive
    Slayer/Lamb of God/Amon Amarth/Cannibal Corpse

And I had at least 2 Ozzy shows on the schedule that are now postponed as has been mentioned. These would be Ozzy shows #31-32 for me over the years! With the newfound time off, I hope Zakk adds more BLS or Zakk Sabbath dates in that span. If you guys are fans and haven't heard of Zakk Sabbath yet, check 'em out. I've seen them twice and both shows were mind-blowing.

We were leaning toward going to the 50th anniversary of woodstock but other than Santana most of the bands (if you can call them that) suck so we most likely aren't going. Going to watch some mma next month. Not a concert but they'll probably play some music.

Make sure to post thoughts, reactions and pics in the Vacation thread. Bangkok is freakin awesome but Phuket was a bit of a letdown. Too much skuzzy stuff and then there is the constant badgering to buy a suit or get a massage.

I haven't been to any in ages and didn't see any for bands nearing death, but will probably pick up a ticket for The World of Hans Zimmer. VIP, row 1-10 looks tempting at 200 bucks.

There are rumors of Van Halen touring again with David Lee Roth, only Michael Anthony has turned it down as he is busy touring with Sammy Hagar. I would jump on those tickets in a nanosecond.

Going to see Gordon Lightfoot this coming Monday, and I am thrilled. He's ledg.

Ann and Nancy Wilson are touring with Elle King and Sheryl Crow. That's appealing to me, but what I really want to see is Ann Wilson's solo act. I am loving her music these days.

Not sure what's coming my way, in terms of the mainstream market. But, I played piano in competitions when I was a kid, and it would be cool to find some classical piano concerts in my area, over the summer. They're usually not overly publicized, so I'll have to do some research.

Just got home from the Billy Joel and I must confess I did not have real high hopes yet he greatly exceeded mine & my wifes expectations. He is funny and made fun of himself having a lot more non hits as opposed to hits. Started one song with lyrics that go something like "I don't have a lot of money" and he stopped right there and said " bull$hit I don't". They even played songs not from him such as Sledgehammer from Peter Gabriel, Take it Easy by the Eagles and they brought the house down when he played guitar while one of his roadies sang Highway to Hell from AC/DC. I bought crappy seats because they were cheap, acoustics were great though. Approximately 40,000 people were in attendance.

Sammy Hagar with opening act Vince Neil was pretty damn good, Sammy still has it & did a damn good job whereas it's very apparent that Vince's best yrs are far behind him & he did more time meowing like a cat vs actual singing. Seats weren't bad, maybe 60' from the stage and the rain held off until the very end of the concert.

Vince played nothing but Motley Crue stuff whereas Sammy played everything from Montrose up to his current lineup with quite a bit of Van Halen tossed in. Even played some Led Zepplin with Jason Bonham on the drums.

Mr Flexy treated me to Heart, Sheryl Crow and Elle King last night. Second row floors. It was an amazing show. If this tour comes to your town, go. Sheryl Crow played all her big hits and a couple of new tunes from an album coming out in August, that is collaborative. Heart played their hits and some cool covers. None of these women have aged a minute. They sounded so good.

Heart is coming to Milwaukee and I have thought about going.

Attended Paranormal Cirque on Saturday night & while not an actual concert it was a pretty cool show. Similar in style to Cirque Du Soleil but with a twisted approach in that they utilize vampires, zombies and horror.

Going to see Thunderstruck next Friday, they are an AC/DC tribute band and supposed to be pretty decent.

Going to see 311 on August 6th. I don't go to concerts too often, but I try to get to a 311 show at least every other year. They are celebrating their 30th year together this year and I'm thinking it won't be long before they stop touring. Sucks, but nobody lives forever.

My wife and I have Johnny Cash tickets Saturday night

Okay, Cash is dead but from the Actors Theater website: The legendary songbook of Johnny Cash comes to life in a musical portrait performed by a multi-talented cast. Featuring over two dozen hit songs and the Man in Black's timeless spirit of love, faith and rebellion.

Attended a "Thunder Struck" concert tonight, they are an AC/DC tribute band and were pretty damn good. Lead singer mimics Brian Johnson well and sounds good, the guitarist does a mean Angus impersonation and was damn good playing as well. 2 solid hrs of hits to a sold out house. They plat mainly east of the Mississippi but do have shows in S. Dakota and Las Vegas this yr, check them out if you enjoy the music and style of AC/DC.

Took my daughter to see KISS as her first concert - just like my first KISS show we say center stage, first row of section 5 (so there is about 15-20 rows in front of us but I liked having the aisle for her to see).

Right as the show started a guy in a suit came down the aisle - took me a minute to recognize him, it was Doc McGee (I recognized him from the screens showing him walking the band from the dressing room to the stage). He made a beeline to us and gave my daughter a guitar pic.

Going to see Alice Cooper in a few weeks - have seen him twice but he was always the opener for Motley Crue and Deep Purple respectively. This time he is headlining and I am hoping for a longer set. Either way - if you haven't seen him live in awhile his guitar player. Nita Strauss, is AMAZING and definitely easy on the eyes.

Wouldn't mind seeing Heart but not sure if I can make that show. Other than that, nothing else is really jumping out at me - will probably go see some low level punk shows at a bar.

Have seen Alice 3 times & it's always a good show.

Going in 2 weeks to see Great White and Slaughter at a local county fair, hopefully they are still decent.

Also picked up tickets for Miranda Lambert in Milwaukee this October.

Love Great White, listened to them on the way in to work today. Saw them about 15 years ago in a small venue (bar), great show. Haven't heard anything post Psycho City though.

Last night we attended Slaughter and Great White.
Slaughter absolutely sucked, they must have messed up their sound check because it was damn near impossible to make out anything the singer was saying, the guitars sounded horrible, etc. The lead singer spent an hr yelling and screeching into the mic.

Then Great White came out & it was a night & day difference, everything was clear and sounded good. Even though they don't have their original singer Jack Russel this guy sounded damn good and honestly if you didn't know he was a different singer you couldn't tell by listening. Played a few new songs as well as a half dozen of their classics, good concert from them.
