    Losing weight

If I’m used to eating 3000 calories a day and I cut it down to 2500 a day. That’s a 500 calorie deficit. Does that mean I lose a pound a week alone on eating less? And if I workout and lose another 500 calories a day does that mean I’m losing 2 pounds a week? Basically I’m wondering if just cutting calories from normal intake makes you lose weight.

Yes net calorie balance is the ultimate determinant of weight loss.

Don't attempt to lose more than 1% bodyweight per week if you want to avoid losing muscle tissue (and of course weight training and adequate protein are important too).

Yessir, 3500 calories in a pound so to lose a pound per week = 3500/7 = 500 cal deficit a day. Best of luck!

Should you not have to work out what your maintenance would be then subtract 500 cals from that to lose 1 lbs a week? just because OP is USED to eating 3000 cals doesn't mean that is maintenance or is what i have said wrong?

Of course! Calorie restriction is usually the best way to go for weight loss. Exercise though is good for your heart (cardio) and maintaining your muscle mass (weights).

    Good luck with your goals.

I guess I didn’t word it all proplery. For me to maintain my current weight I’m supposed to eat 3000 calories. But if I cut bellow that by 500 it means I will lose a pound a week correct? So just by cutting what your supposed to eat a day to maintain you lose right? Sorry I’m new to this. But from what you guys are saying i believe I’m right.
