Opinion on alternative exercises to build legs?

Ive been squatting with the barbell for a good while. Ive got some thick legs doing it, ive done it in almost every style from highbar - lowbar - front squat - ssb. Ive done every style using oly shoes, chuck taylors and bare feet....and now to be honest im just bored with squatting, ive gotten so good at it i feel like theres not much left to learn. Im not interested in it anymore and it doesent fire me up at all.

What do you guys think about building legs with alternative leg exercises like:

    Hacksquat?
    Bulgarian split squat?
    Jefferson deads?
    Others?

There are top level bodybuilders who had great legs without squats but i never hear any lifters talk about a leg day without them.

I don't do them anymore, but Bulgarian split squats are great, especially for the vastus lateralis and medialis. Try jump squats and heavy heavy hang squats. Hang squats work a lot more than your legs.

If the whole problem is that you are just bored of squats, how about you practice pistol squats, could be a whole different challenge to keep things new? just a random thought

There is no harm in trying something to fire you up and see if it benefits you or not. If the results are positive, continue it.

    Try any of the following
    1) Squat with plates and kettlebells attached to bands (makes the squat unstable)
    2) Overhead squat - basically snatch the weight over your head, then squat
    3) squat (front, back, SSB, or overhead) and then do forward, back, lateral, and angle lunges
    4) squat variations - box squat, jump squat, etc.
5)And the ultimate torcher that I saw Larry Fitzgerald do (talked to his trainer about it). Holding a plate (45, 55, or hundo) do 3 pistol squats on one leg, immediately go into 3 one leg RDL's, drop weight, then explosively hop 3-5 hops (going forward - so one leg long jump), upon landing the last hop do a pistol squat and a 1 leg RDL, now you can put your foot down. Now do the other leg on your return to the beginning. That's one rep. Rest 30 seconds and do it again. Do three reps.
    6) How about working on your posterior chain and build up your HS.

A quite reading when the article said to grab a pair of heavy 40 pound dumbbells.

Thats curling weight, not squatting weight.

You arent going to acheive anything with babyweights unless you are looking to enter a bikini contest.

I know what it says in the article and despite what you wrote, you're trying to say that you quit reading. I don't believe you, but it's your lose if you didn't read the ever so short article. I did say "heavy, heavy." Try it with a pair of 175lb kettlebells.

I don't have 175 kettlebells. I only have two loadable kettlebell handles.

Post a video of yourself doing anything with anything.

My legs looked much better when the xplode leg press was my core leg exercise than when I was squatting. Now I cant do either since I'm recovering from a knee repair but given the choice a good horizontal leg press imo is better than a squat for me

But I've squatted 605 raw, so.

Those are some interesting ideas, i saw mark bell benching with a bamboo bar with bands attached to kettlebells it looked crazy hard

I always kind of wrote off the leg press but your not the only person ive heard say this, dorian yates built his foundation with barbell squats but prepped for contests with exercises like the leg press

What do you guys think about building legs with alternative leg exercises like:

    Hacksquat?
    Bulgarian split squat?
    Jefferson deads?
    Others?

There are top level bodybuilders who had great legs without squats but i never hear any lifters talk about a leg day without them.
what's your max low bar back squat?
