    Personal Trainer Potential

I am thinking of becoming a personal trainer through ISSA; possibly even going to Master Fitness Trainer.

I am hoping this can get me a job in a gym where I can learn, gain experience, and hopefully open a gym.

Are there any trainers out here who can let me know if this seems sound or am I off about something?

I'd focus more on certs that show you actually can deal with athletes.

Kettlebell Certs, USA Weightlifting Certs, etc.

Joe Defranco runs a pretty program.

Good advice above, but would also look at a better certifying organization. NASM, NSCA, ACSM, even ACE before ISSA if you're still looking at a general certification.

I have been a personal trainer for 9 years and while commercial experience is fine, I think creative freedom as a trainer is so much better. Working in a factory gym or small business owned gym is so much better for the career because you can mould your business and yourself as one to the career. You don't have nearly as many protocols to follow and you have simply freedom in the industry. Out of the 9 years I've been involed by far the best have been outside corporate fitness gym chains.
