    Workout program for fishermen

Hey guys, been lurking around for a while now.
So the main thing is that i am a fisherman and work 6 weeks on 6 weeks off. No training equipment on board the ship, but hard work.
Been wondering what would be the best program to build muscle, most programs i've seen don't really consider that you can only workout half the year.
I have experience with lifting, did powelifting meetings when i was younger but now looking to gain muscle mass

    Thanks in advance

Its next to impossible to make any progress living like that.

Can you bring a kettlebell and a trx strap on board? Otherwise it doesnt look good . . .

You might not have the energy if you are working hard, but calisthenic workouts such as pushups, pullups, dips, etc might work for you if there is a way to do those on the ship.

FWIW, there are some studies out there that show progress in lifters taking lots of time off (though not quite on a 1:1 ratio).

See the "Starting with the research" section here.

Been doing pushups, abs, pullups. But really depends on what the weather is. Cant really be doing much when everything is moving.
Well i lift heavy things on board. Each block weighs 25-60 kg's which has to be moved by hand in the freezer hold.
But what you recommend doing while at home ?
    Just whatever i can ?

At home a full body workout 3 times a week would be fine. If you really have the energy, you could do a 6 day push/pull/legs split but you may not see much more gains.

Can buy a trx strap before i fly out, and probably buy a kettlebell or dumbbell where i go on board or where we offload. You think it's going to make any progress with mass building ?

You'll make much more progress with mass building doing that than you will without doing it.

Your situation is definitely suboptimal, but anything is better than nothing

For sure. The good thing is that for hypertrophy purposes, you can manipulate variables like volume and intensity without worrying too much about the actual weight lifted.

Has anyone see the film groundhog day?

Can't find in search, but didn't you (or someone) ask the exact same question before, I mean it's a very specific question. A valid question for all sorts of offshore workers (oil rigs, fisheries, etc), but just got a groundhog feeling here
