As a lifelong republican I would like to see how this guy does in the debates for the dems, and might even vote for him.
Don't really agree with a universal basic income but I think he has the right big picture idea about the future of the US.
Smart guy, tempered, and likable. Can see him appealing to moderates and being a standout candidate juxtapose the wacky far left idiots currently taking up the oxygen like Bernie, AOC, Kamala, and Warren.

If this guy shows mettle in the debates I believe he could change the discourse and future of the democratic party in the same way Trump did in the 2016 election. I don't believe a lot of democrats above 30 subscribe to the loony socialist policies currently being thrown around in the news. This guy has the potential to drum up a lot of support from moderate/traditional dems, flip some republicans, and win with independents.

Beyond the fiscal polices I don’t like...
AMERICAN JOURNALISM FELLOWS
As President, I will…
-invest in a National Journalism Fellows program that will select and invest in journalists in and from every state in the Union. Each State would have as many Fellows as Congresspeople :3 for Wyoming, North Dakota, and Alaska all the way up to 55 for California:. They would each be funded by a 4-year grant of $400,000 and stationed at a local news organization
-Fellows would be nominated by an industry body and selected by a nonpartisan commission. ¼ of the 535 Fellows would be nominated and selected each year for a 4-year term. Their Fellowship would be contingent on their reporting from a given district and state but immune from any other influence.
NEWS AND INFORMATION OMBUDSMAN
As President, I will…
-imbue the FCC with a new office of the News and Information Ombudsman whose role it will be to investigate complaints of deliberate, persistent and destructive misinformation published by media companies and on social media, with a particular priority of curbing any foreign actors posing as citizens and impose fines as necessary.
REDUCE HARM CAUSED BY SMARTPHONES
-Create a Department of the Attention Economy that focuses specifically on smartphones and social media, gaming and chat apps and how to responsibly design and use them, including age restrictions and guidelines.
-Create a “best practices” design philosophy for the industry to minimize the antisocial impacts of these technologies on children who are using them. Ask Tristan Harris to lead.
-Direct the Department to investigate the regulation of certain companies and apps. Many of these companies essentially function as public utilities and news sources – we used to regulate broadcast networks and newspapers and phone companies. We need to do the same thing to ********, Twitter, Snap and other companies now that they are the primary ways people both receive information and communicate with each other.
LOCAL JOURNALISM FUND
As President, I will…
-Invest in a Local Journalism Fund program that will make grants of between $25,000 and $250,000 to local media outlets, non-profits, libraries, governments, and public-private partnerships to catalyze transitions to new models of support. In many cases, the grants will serve as ‘Matching Funds’ for other committed support to demonstrate viability. The Fund will be operated out of the FCC and will be divided evenly among states proportionally based on the population of each state.CLOSELY MONITOR MENTAL HEALTH OF WHITE HOUSE STAFF
-Hire a White House psychologist corps and require all employees of the executive branch to undergo regular evaluations to determine their fitness for service. The White House psychologist corps would report to the Chief of Staff.
SUPPORT FOR THE ARTS
As President, I will…
Restore NEA and NEH funding to at least pre-1996 levels, adjusted for inflation.
Support changes in the tax law to spur investment in film, television, and live theatrical productions (Section 181 of the federal tax code).
Bring greater awareness to how individuals and local communities throughout the country benefit from federal support for arts programs.
Strongly support existing programs that offer art and music education in primary and secondary schools, and push for more such programs. They have been demonstrated to improve education outcomes.
Explore the feasibility of creating a national theater.
Assemble experts in copyright to propose ways to change copyright law in order to spur creativity.
Continue to iterate on the Music Modernization Act, and promote similar policies that will bring our laws around compensation for the arts into the modern, streaming/internet era.
Intelligent individuals learn from every thing and every one; average people, from their experiences. The stupid already have all the answers.

Moderates?
THE FREEDOM DIVIDEND
Andrew would implement a Universal Basic Income, ‘The Freedom Dividend,’ of $1,000/month, $12,000 a year for every American adult over the age of 18. This is independent of one’s work status or any other factor. This would enable all Americans to pay their bills, educate themselves, start businesses, be more creative, stay healthy, relocate for work, spend time with their children, take care of loved ones, and have a real stake in the future.
/Any change to The Freedom Dividend would require a constitutional amendment.
-It will be illegal to lend or borrow against one’s Dividend.
-If one does not graduate from high school, your dividend does not begin until 20.
A Universal Basic Income at this level would permanently grow the economy by 12.56 to 13.10 percent—or about $2.5 trillion by 2025
—and it would increase the labor force by 4.5 to 4.7 million people. Putting money into people’s hands and keeping it there would be a perpetual boost and support to job growth and the economy.
COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE
-Invest heavily in carbon capture and geoengineering technologies designed to reverse the damage already done to the environment through a new Global Geoengineering Institute and invite international participation.
-Invest in any idea that has the potential to reverse the damage done to the environment, for example cloud-seeding technology to increase the atmosphere’s reflectivity.
-End the current tax benefits and cuts given to fossil fuel companies which give them an unwarranted competitive advantage over alternative energy sources.
-Institute a tax on emissions that will fund health care initiatives and research for respiratory diseases that are a direct result of these emissions.
-Empower and appoint an action-oriented leader of the EPA and direct the EPA to regulate carbon emissions.
-Direct the EPA to survey the states and private organizations to collate all programs designed to promote renewable energy adoption.
-Direct the EPA to coordinate with state and local governments to measure the impact of different policies on effecting positive impacts in the area of renewables adoption.
-Prioritize sustainable infrastructure and urban development to take advantage of new materials and designs.
PAID FAMILY LEAVE
As President, I will...
-Propose and fight for a paid family leave policy, requiring employers to offer at least 9 months of paid family leave, distributed between parents however they see fit; or 6 months of paid leave for a single parent

CONTROL THE COST OF HIGHER EDUCATION
-
-Amend or modify the U.S. News and World Report rankings and eliminate the ability of any university to compensate administrators with incentives tied to their rankings.
-Require all universities with endowments of over $30 billion to contribute 1% of their total endowment each year ($300 million+/year) to the founding and operations of a new university in Ohio until it becomes self-sustaining, at which point another community will be identified (the “Harvard Creates a New University in Ohio Tax”).
-
As President, I will…
Propose a carbon fee and dividend systems that:
Sets an initial carbon tax of $40/ton, which would increase in regular intervals
Use that tax to fund, after administrative fees:
(50%) The Universal Basic Income
(50%) Projects that are enhancing efficiency of fossil fuels or increasing availability of renewable resources
Create a border carbon adjustment to protect American goods that would:
charge a fee to imports from countries that don’t impose a similar carbon fee, or some type of carbon tax
provide a rebate to exports to countries that don’t impose a similar carbon fee, or some type of carbon taxIntelligent individuals learn from every thing and every one; average people, from their experiences. The stupid already have all the answers.

ive really come around in the past few weeks/months on UBI provided it is generated SOLELY from taxing companies based on automated jobs
it will be the "future" but at the same time gives the employers more production at a lesser cost, while it does supply those who will lose jobs their own independence. And it would replace all the other programs like welfare and shet, as long as no taxpayer pays more to cover UBI, im not against itKeep mod discussions out of your sig line

This. The man is a radical Marxist. Massive wealth redistribution on a level unseen before for the sake of some jobs he's not even sure are being phased out by AI or not. We're supposed to re-engineer the entire US Economy based on truckers. ****ing Truckers.
He's also the worst candidate on gun rights, proposes Mass confiscation. And are we really going to trust a guy named yang when where coming to a head with China? I understand he's Taiwanese, but he doesn't get a pass. He obviously finds Mao Zedong quite the hero.
Want to really protect American jobs and drive to cost-of-living down? Get rid of all illegals, stop legal immigration, and H-1B visa, get the government out of healthcare and get the government out of college for god sakes.
