CD absolutely made great use of the lore. No doubt. But id argue its not fair to give them credit for merely using lore that already exists in the greater witcher IP.

Really grasping for straws, eh? "Hurr they merely stayed faithful to the characters/political etc. setting of the books, they shouldn't get credit for it." All of the games are set waaay after everything that happened in the books, CDPR took the setting and wrote their own stories from scratch.

Most other games are using unique stories and characters they invented themselves.

Now this is just a blatant lie. Most other games are prequel/sequel/spinoff/whatevers.

Id also argue that isnt what makes a game a great game. Number 1 in my opinion is actual gameplay, which even many Witcher faithful admit wasnt anything special
