I've only dcd once or twice. Did get the full audio bug once which pissed me off. Also, whoever at Bioware had the bright idea of no typing is a certified potato. Impossible to communicate with your teammates, and some of the chit on hard actually requires some teammwork. Voice isn't working for me, or everyone is just ignoring me so it's annoying af.

Already had premier, so loaded it up since Apex is crashing continuously for me today. The quests are some of the most boring, generic, and forgettable, quests I've played in a AAA rpg in a long while. They are all nearly indistinguishable from each other.

Go here, kill this mob of enemies.
Now, go there and do it again.
Great.
Now, go over that way, and do it one more time.

I felt more engaged and interested in D2's and the Division's stories, and neither of those was anything to write home about.

Still going to give it more time, but I'd be thoroughly annoyed if I purchased the game.

Thought this would be the case but aint that 90% of games these days? GO to quest marker, kill 10 of x then report back, escort x to y, find all of x to get meaningless y.

as someone who was really hyped for this game, this is how i'm feeling right now lol

i mean, the combat is cool and all but there's only so many times you can do the same combo over and over again (on some of the dumbest mobs i've ever experienced in a pve game)

honestly, at this point, i'm just playing this to hold me over til division 2 drops

I caved and bought origin access so I could play the game early. I got nothing better to do anyway this weekend. WIll cancel next week so its $20 basically cdn.

Im enjoying the gameplay but the story is a bit of a let down. Especially coming from Bioware. Was just expecting better in that department.

My prediction was that Anthem would be pretty lackluster, with a very sparse endgame. The demo certainly didn't change my mind.

Ya after a few hours, you can really feel how shallow this game is.

Generic quests. Generic loot. Generic enemies. Generic characters. Generic story. The gameplay is cool, but there's just nothing to it. You spam the same 2 abilities over and over because your gun shoots bubbles.

edit: Two things really take me out of it. 1) Load screens of fuking peace and prosperity. 2) Walking around the city to talk to people and deal with their dumb chit. The choices literally have no effect on anything. Just a waste of time.

Exactly. I'm literally just stacking the same combos over and over and over, on enemies that basically all just stand still and shoot at you the entire time.

At this point, I think it's 100% obvious that the old Bioware is dead and gone, no matter how hard people tried to convince us otherwise after the Andromeda launch. :/

The thing is (I was talking about this yesterday): is this a possibility in any loot/shoot game? The things you're saying here were the same in the Division - even pvp became formulaic. And difficulty was 'bullet sponges' /damage too. I did like the missions there (like the Russian Consulate one) but the missions in Anthem are kind of fun.

I did a contract with Mad yesterday that ended with an elite colossus where our group members were repeatedly dying trying to make it happen while all these elementals were spawning all over us. I get your point about the 'minions' but, heck, if some boss fights/random encounters throw this kind of challenge I'm alright with it.

Finally: one thing about 'challenge' in games. I loved the Mass Effect Trilogy. But no one with an FPS background and on PC would call them 'challenging'. The challenging parts were the paragon/renegade options, etc. NOT the actual gameplay.

So maybe one of the mistakes in a game like Anthem is that the 'solo' part is fairly devoid of anything (like perhaps we should have to pick between the different factions...different agendas, add some 'morality' to it, give it some meaning) rather than the generic feel that Anthem and plenty of games in the last decade + have had.

After ironing out the little bugs and errors, this game is quite fun. The graphics look great and the gameplay is pretty smooth. Using dat dere Colossus with a Gear Score of 73

This is why I love the Origin Premier subscription because it saves you from spending $70 on a game that is a let down, I wish all developers had a subscription model like this. I would never spend full price on Anthem because I know I would never play it long-term, instead I get to spend $15 and play it for 2 weeks until I'm bored of it and then unsubscribe/move on.

What are yalls graphic settings at? I'm sitting between 70-80fps on Ultra with AA off. Not sure I could hit max framerate on low settings

It felt like a 'grind' at first, because I tried doing it on hard. I switched to easy, did a few quests in freeplay and it was a lot of fun. Looted the treasure chests, fought all kinds of monsters in different contexts, interesting world quests or whatever. And the 'grind' is...part of the 'quest you have to do'. I don't want to spoil it but you basically get to travel around the whole world (as far as I can tell) that they provide.

Some shocking lore stuff later...I've been playing a lot the past 24 hours but some of the quests are really fun/cool.

I actually really like the story and lore...was really surprised by that because I hated destiny and the divisions story/lore and didn't expect anything more than that.

Other than that the game solid 6/10. Ai is easy af. Yet again these games continue to not have a chat box in a fuarkin 2019 MMO SHOOTER FOR FUARKS SAKE, speaks volumes on what sort of community/social teamwork you need to complete game content.

Oh and the color options for your javelin is garbage af. I've never felt such an alone world before... crazy.

Little ranty and scattershot.. will play more until tomorrow and inform further annoyances.

Edit: Holy hell they need to optimize this game. Running a i7-8700k and I've seen it utilize 100% and averages in the city around 50-60%. Holy hell.

I am really liking the story.


My friend wanted to play it , i was never gonna buy it but decided to give it a chance for $15. So far i am liking it much better destiny 1 and 2.

It definitely surprised me i though it would be trash but so far its more and more fun.
