How reliable are the previous gen C63s? I'm think 2012 sedan. Seems like AMG is more reliable than BMW M
Also this is gonna sound silly, but about the Lexus GSF? A lot of good reviews, though it's heavy and underpowered imo. The upside is high reliability.Last edited by MikeLowrrrey; 02-14-2019 at 09:04 AM.

When Audi first introduced the R8, people were leasing it for $1100-$1300 USD, when time came to turn in the lease, the car was worth 95% of the initial purchase value and they got almost all of their money back. This happened to a good friend of mine, basically drove the car for free for 3 years. I doubt this is still the case, especially with the 2019 refresh, however an R8 lease is going to run you 2500-3000 USD per month with 10k down and 5000 miles a year.

When talking about power sedans, the last you would wanna pick is a japanese car.
Like you said, they are known for reliability. If you want power sedans, i'd look at german first, then american with the CTSV etc.
If you want reliability over power but still want "some" power, and by some i mean some, then yeah get the GSF.
If you want monster power, styling, looks, performance and still have reliability, get an AMG.

no ZCP but I hate those retarded looking 20" ZCP wheels. Pre ZCP actually has more down low torque but you can flash the ECU and transmission to ZCP if you want the new style characteristics
exec package and CF trim are nice
not really much warranty left
No spun crank hub, which is good
much higher mileage than I'd take, 20k would be the max I'd get
the new S58 M3/4 will be out next MY so this will drop in price like a stone

Lexus/toyota are good cars, if you're looking for a reliable commuter.
Their styling, even the F models and their performance doesn't equal to the price they want. Their pricing is adjusted because of their top notch reliability.
If i was spending that much, i'd go german 9 times out of 10, or that one time, american. If i was looking for a power sedan.
Can't beat german when it comes to that part of the game.
AMG is goat.

watch the video about toyota's collab with BMW on the Z4 bodykit, I mean the new 'supra' - Toyota horrified BMW because they tested every part over and over again while the Germans had a much higher tolerance for failure
It also helps that their tech is much simpler than the over-engineered competitors. I just wish Ford or Chevy could have the same kind of QC

Even though the new "supra" is basically a BMW, it's a joke. I can't believe how many people are drooling over a rebadged Z4 with a toyota emblem. It's supposed to be backwards if you think about it. People are willing to pay more if they saw a BMW badge, even though underneath it's a toyota. But this chit is backwards. A BMW rebadged a toyota and they wanna charge that outrageous amount lol.
I think toyota strives for simplicity and longevity/reliability over anything else. While germans will over engineer something just to say they did it first.
Which is why the S500 always has the latest tech before you see it drizzle down to other cars 5-10 years down the road. The germans are no joke when it comes to engineering their cars.
Ford nor chevy will ever be on the germans level when it comes to the car game. They have to choose their lane and stay in it.
Neither manufacturer (ford and chevy) will ever compete with the germans when it comes to a power sedan. GM tried to do it, they failed. Did ford try to do it? I don't think so otherwise i could think of the car they tried with lol.
The germans run the game when it comes to power sedans that has style and performance.
AMG is still the goat.
I think if i had to choose one car to have, for both a daily and a weekend car, it'd be a C63S AMG coupe.

Each manufacturer has their strength. Ford’s is the F-150. They probably spend more on their line of trucks than everywhere else combined. If they did that with a car to compete with ze Germans, they’d do extremely well.
Just take a look at the engineering feat they pulled off with the Voodoo motor. They could have gone the crossplane route but decided to do something very few companies could do and built the flatplane crank version.
They achieved something very special with that motor.

The gen 3 coyote and 10 speed destroy pretty much everything German in terms of the ability to generate massive power and withstand it, stock. Dual injection, trans rated to 1000 HP vs the pathetic low torque rated ZF 8 speeds they put in most of their cars. A $30k car that can handle 800 crank on stock internals is insane, compare that to M4's costing 3 x as much spinning their crank hubs at 600HP
obviously it's not perfect but in terms of a value proposition it's amazing
what they really need to do is up their interior game, even the ultra poverty, marketed at 'can I talk to the manager' women new MB A Class has an interior that's 10 years ahead of the GT

Well like i said before, every manufacturer has a lane, and they should, and some do, stay in it.
Ford/dodge/chevy has never been known for the interiors, so they have to attract the market in other depts. Like making affordable fast cars, good all around point A to B cars, used as cop cars etc lol.
German cars have never been known to be reliable, so they have to attract the market in other depts. Like styling, luxury performance, rarity, if going with a performance variant of a certain model etc.
Japanese cars have never been known to be styling or fast, so they have to attract the market in other depts. LIke reliability, good resale value, that's pretty much it really. Their performance cars are overpriced and they always fall short in the power dept.
I still have the GT on my list as next daily. But now i'm starting to look at used C63 AMG's lol, because of all the AMG talk.
AMG is GOAT.

Don't know if I'd be ready for a 2008 c63. Headbolt issues and don't really know the reliability/maintenance on em. Course I could read up.
I mentioned c55/e55 because they're stated as the most reliable. C55 is said to be one of the most reliable AMGs, doesn't have a ton of power like the E55 though
I like the GSF, would buy it if it has modding potential. And they seem rare, I've yet too see one, let a lone a Lexus G model

A GSF is a glorified camry. Good car, but again if you want some pep for your daily commute. Those cars, IMHO, are NOT in the same league as the german power sedans. And i would pick a CTSV over any F model lexus sedan. THe ISF, GSF, all the "F's" they have.
I remember when i had my FD3S rx7, i raced the older ISF, i think 2012? Whatever gen that was. ANd of course i blew the doors off his car. After i beat him by like 4 cars up to 120, i slowed down because i wanted to give him the thumbs up. But instead he did a ricer flyby and after he passed me, A CHIT TON OF SMOKE was pouring out of his exhaust lol. He gave me the james bond smoke screen. I was like wtf, i thought toyota had bulletproof engines? Apparently not that particular model lol.
The rarity commodity wears off after a while. I had rare cars before, people only look because they don't see it, obviously. After they find out what it is, they just go about their way without a care.
My car, is a dime a dozen, and it's not rare at all. But i can't take my car out for 5 minutes without someone breaking their neck, people staring at stop lights, people standing on corners smiling and giving me the thumbs up, people pacing me on the highway just to check the car out lol.
It's a great feeling. I got hella spoiled with this car. My next car better give me that same instant gratification lol

Do you really have that much power??
What do you use for tire when not at the drag strip? I don't drag my car, never will but i want something that will give me some low mph bite when i do my low mph pulls on the highway etc. It sucks when i have to start my rolls at 65 because anything below there's no traction. But then again i have continentials for street tires lol
Maybe the R888's?

still on the stock PP1 275's, they're P4S's and while good tires are not even close to being able to handle the whipple's added torque
The biggest I can fit without issues are 19/30/325's (thanks Ford! My old BMW could only take 255s, with poke and rub lmao) but I'm not sure what wheels to get yet. Thinking Ford GT replica's, they're 11" and super lightweight forged.
your Z06 has the OEM 325's?
I got 1050x injectors with my stage 2 because I thought I might try an E85 tune, but TBH this is ridiculous enough as it is with the lack of traction so I think I wasted my money there

I wanted to get P4S but i had such good experience with the continental extremecontact sport on my C6 that i went with them again on my C7Z.
The car came with michelin PSS run flats and they are the WORST tire i ever had. Everyone goes banana sandwich for that tire and i agree, for the track, that's the best street tire you can run, not being a drag radial etc. But for the street, the chit is the worst. Hard ass ride, loud ass ride, tramlining, low life, it was just the worst tire.
My car comes with 19x10 285 front, 20x12 335 rears stock. Still not enough tire. But instead of finding wider tires like 345 or 355, i'll find stickier tires instead and go smaller.
But i'm debating on going with a 19" wheel in the back and throwing some R888's. Some people on the forum had good experience with them aside from the tire kicking up rocks everywhere. So i guess that's the trade off.
I was debating on going with E. But i didn't want to tune the car for that and lose my warranty. So i did everything possible to my car under the stock tune lol. The stock tune is very forgiving.

Or mid engine
That's why i'm patiently waiting on what the C8 offers.
But until then, i have a list on what daily i want to get next and what weekend toy i want to get next lol. I hate having to pick. There are so many good cars out there.
A GTR is one of them though speaking on AWD, for my next weekend toy. It'll be hard to go away from the V8, but i just been a fan of the GTR's for so long. The only japanese car worth buying right now. The rest are trash lol

Well I asked because there's a lot of respectable car reviewers like Chris Harris giving it a good review all around. You sound like you've driven 1 before, does it really feel a like a Camry? The GSF is RWD and the Camry is FWD. To me it just needs more power, like 550Hp.
Also Op everyone is telling you to get the C63 LOL. Or look into CadillacLast edited by MikeLowrrrey; 02-18-2019 at 11:26 AM.

The biggest reason the C43 gets hate is because the C63 exists. I'd probably be happy with it... it seems like a good looking, comfy, quick DD with the TT V6. If it didn't have the AMG badge, it wouldn't be compared so closely to the C63 (people don't compare the BMW 335i as closely to the M3 as people ITT are comparing the C43 to the C63 - as if the C63 is just ticking an option mark compared to the C43)
But yeah C63 is way cooler lol
