    New to bodybuilding at 46

    Hey guys:

I have a bit of a weird story to share. Back in my early 20's I started lifting weights. An illness hit me at the time and I could not longer lift for a time. A few years later I tried to get back into it but couldn't bench anymore or find my rhythm. Between moving around, trying to survive, and etcetera, I wasn't able to get back into it. It was a depressing period to say the least.

Well, here I am now, starting again from scratch. I had to figure out out to do the exercises correctly for me, and that's taken a while (Jay Cutler's dumbbell bench press videos actually allowed me to figure out how to bench again, and Arnold Schwarzenegger's book is helping me with the rest). I'm going to give this a serious go, and if I can't ever achieve Hulk status now, I'll at least aim for a Sub Mariner physique. I'll try for a 4 day rest for the smaller muscle groups, and 5 days for the larger ones to start.

Thanks for reading and wish me luck.

So no progress since you started in 2017?

All it takes is consistency, effort, proper nutrition, good programming, and TIME.

Don't be upset with the results you didn't get from the work you did not do.

Some very basic exercises only then. Now I'm hitting the weights seriously. I couldn't bench due to some injuries but managed to get around it now.

Not sure Arnold is the best way to go for a novice, but good luck to you whatever system you use.

In another post he claims he is so injured he can only lift CDs . . .

which is utter bs because he wouldnt even be able to lift Arnold's book.
