Hello everyone,
I am Callum, 20 years old, 70kg/154lbs, uni student.
I have been into fitness most my life but its only from jan last year that I consistently started gyming and trying to eat more. I have been on and off with my fitness pal in that time until a month ago where I have been extremely consistent with my kcals
So I am having a problem gaining weight as the tital indicates. I eat 3400 kcals everyday. I track everything and I mean everything, right down to my ketchup.
Macros are:-
Protein 213g which is probs too much
Carbs 383g
Fat 113g
My diet consists of the following :-
Naked Chicken breast
Gammon joint
Free range Eggs
Toasted british muffins
Edam cheese
Avacardo
Sweet potato wedges
Broc**** (but not as much as I probably should)
50/50 bread
Whey protein (when needed to meet macros)
I workout 3 days a week doing a full body workout, lifting heavy and including compound exercises. About 45-60 min workouts. No cardio apart from a breif warm up on the rowing machine of 1:30 min.
So heres the problem. Iv not gained any weight, nothing, in fact Iv actually gone down slightly.
I have weighed myself in the morning on an empty stomach on smart scales that track my muscle mass and even body fat percentage as well as my weight. Nothing.
I have a even have a fit bit that says I burn 3000 kcals at most but 2600 at average.
Im getting desperate now, should I increase my kcals even more?? Or am I missing somthing here? I am putting in loads of effort but nothing is happening.

Seemingly impossible to gain weight

Ignore the muscle mass and bodyfat % from the scale. Regardless, if your goal is to gain weight you should eat more. You can take the protein down to 150g and easily still get maximal benefits, and this may allow you to be hungrier and have an easier time eating more. Bump up to 3700 kcal and see what happens after a few weeks.

Haha I was like him at 20 years of age and my Ma told me it wouldn't be that way forever, and she was right!
To the OP, sweet potato?? Not that there's anything wrong with sweet potato, but get some real potatos inside you, along with some pasta, rice, peanut butter, perhaps some fatty meat like steak and burgers with cheese, etc. It's making me hungry thinking about it, can we swap bodies for a week?

All food has nutritional value. Cheeseburgers, bacon, and Pizza aren’t going to kill you. Anything in moderation is fine. There is something to be said for enjoying your food. Most people who get TOO anal about thier diet aren’t getting enough benefits to outweigh the loss and unhappiness.
I’m not sure you do...that was a thread ender IMHO
Good luck OP (original poster)
