03-24-2021, 08:51 AM #10742"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Thank god the Braves all have their heads on straight. No stupid injuries or mistakes.
All eyes on the prize. WS or bust. Let’s go!"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. This trend of extending top prospects before they even take the field (or at most a couple months after) is an extremely slippery slope.
I can see this backfiring on so many team if everyone hops on the bandwagon and goes overboard with it
Brb $100 mil committed for the next 7 years to a guy that ends up being no better than a AAA player"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. longoria was one of the first right.
rays were doing what they had to do
i actually think it's one of the smartest things possible. BUT you're right it can go overboard/ turn out bad. a la jon singleton or scott kingery (so far)
edit: braves with acuna were pretty smart. only 100 mil and until he's like 27 to where he wants a new contract so will probably play well for another pay day

I don’t feel bad for multi millionaires often but I legit feel bad for Albies. I don’t know what he was thinking. He’s practically playing for free, in terms of baseball dollars anyway
I hope he makes a boatload on his next contract. It’ll never make up for this but he deserves better."One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. Not to rehash this but you've completely missed the point of the restricted list. It was never about waiting until MLB put guys on the IL. The problem was most guys who were on the IL carried over to being fine for this season, so we needed a grace period to give people time to add those players to the active roster.
This had nothing to do with waiting until MLB put the IL guys on the IL so you could do the same.
In a normal year when there's a draft we're not able to add guys to the IL between draft completion and opening day, so if you draft a guy who gets injured we don't dump them into the reserve and let people start picking other players up do we? No we don't. The restricted list was simply meant to bridge the gap for when we'd normally have a draft, which is typically 3-4 days prior to Opening Day. That's all it was supposed to be.
This doesn't need a response, it's just my opinion. You've 100% misconstrued this restricted list idea and we can simply agree to disagree because I know you'll feel different. This is exactly why people assumed they needed to be on your team by Opening Day. Just so you know"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable.
