I’m only reading a boxscore here, but did John Means really have his perfect game ruined by a wild pitch strikeout where the runner reached base?
I don’t see any HBP or errors... so was that what cost him? If so... ouch. Tough way to lose a perfect game
Edit
At least it happened in the 3rd inning and not late in the game."One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. Not gonna lie, I don’t know how Saalty let me snag William Contreras
For as good as he is at picking people up. I was out of adds on Sunday when D’Arnaud was put in the 60 day DL and Saalty had just lost Kirk to injury
Thought there was no way Contreras wouldn’t get grabbed.
All he did was rake when he got playing time last year. He’s gonna be better than Willson"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. Imagine having a pitcher with a 2.04 ERA and 0 wins this far into the season
Now imagine having a second pitcher with a 2.38 ERA who only picked up his 2nd win today.
Imagine having these 2 pitchers, roughly 73 IP and a combined 2.20 ERA, and only having 2 wins

Jarred Kelenic starts off AAA 2 for 6 with 2 taters. Yes pls my box score is ready.
Also, how inflated are pitching stats this year good lord lol. The top 30 starters in baseball are basically sub 3 ERA's. Still way early but jesus, those new baseballs must get nasty movement. Wonder if there is a way to see average spin rate and movement league wide to compare, everyone's putting up CY numbers right now.Sun Devils - Cardinals - Suns - Dbakes - Yotes

Uhhh probably, cuz our pitching staff is dogsh*t? You at least need to have some talent to look good. Starting rotation minus Gallen and the last 4 outings of MadBum (23ip 3er) is horrible and the bullpen is a complete dumpster fire. I legit don't understand how their offense is 3rd in runs scored and that they are within a game of .500, the lineup is mediocre af. A bunch of good but not great hitters with Marte out, but it looks like they are drawing a bunch of walks and getting guys on the bases evidently.
Broadcasting company that owns Fox Sports AZ is on their bullsht again and none of the streaming platforms get FSAZ, so I haven't watched any of their games. Don't feel like pulling up a bootleg stream to watch a mediocre team.Sun Devils - Cardinals - Suns - Dbakes - Yotes

I actually might drop him.
It’s so weird, so many of his starts he’ll great and be cruising and then blow up in one inning
Obviously tonight he just blew up from the start, but I really don’t understand at all. It’s like he forgets how to pitch one inning
For a younger guy that might make sense but I don’t get it with him.
Edit
Ok I looked back and they do happen a little earlier than I remember (2nd inning, 3rd inning, 5th inning in another). But it’s only just 1 inning then he’s fine. Jays were the only ones who got to him multiple innings really.
He’ll pitch 5 or 6 innings and there’s always a 4 or 5 run inning that wrecks it
If you check his WHIP he’s getting people out regularly in other innings. Not like he’s in a world of trouble getting mashed nonstop

I'm really tired of MLB tinkering with the ball. It's ruining the game. Players are going to set the record for most strikeouts in a season. Pitchers are throwing bugs bunny balls with higher velocity. Worst of all HRs are down. So we get less hits, more strikeouts, and fewer HRs. Is this what people really want to watch?
There's a no no every other night **** is ****ing ridiculous. Also when do stats become irrelevant? You can't compare year over year or decade over decade because **** is constantly changing.

The most ridiculous part to me is that most of the time they aren't even telling anyone what's been changed (this year they at least said they're changing it).
NBA changed their basketballs that one season, everyone knew, and when it got negative feedback they changed back quickly.
MLB makes changes under the radar that players don't even seem to know about, or they make changes like this year that's going to extremely alter the balance of the game. Then their answer to it is to make another drastic change like pushing the mound back, instead of reverting whatever dumb tinkering they're doing.Last edited by Pro_Shark; 05-08-2021 at 02:22 PM.

Mountcastle 3/4 with a HR two days after I drop him.
No one can convince me I’m not cursed at this point. I guarantee he’d be going 0/4 every day if I continued holding him. Cant wait to watch him blow up the next two weeks.
Same deal with Hiura. The second I release him he’s gonna go off. But if I hold him it will never happen.
Anyone want to test the theory with me when he gets called back up? I’ll hold him for two weeks after they bring him back up and watch him hit .220 or worse then I’ll trade him for free to first person who wants to take a crack at this theory. I can almost promise it will work out for you after I give him away.
For that matter, anyone want to test it with Charlie Morton right now?"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable.
