I'm back to admit "I was wrong again".
Well...
I had an old one written/recorded in 1988.
I'm still pleased with the original for that time but wanted to bring it into the 21st century.
So....I was fortunate enough to collab with Ken (klasaine) again and record an updated version.
He does lead guitar and his rhythm guitar is panned left.
I played rhythm guitar which is panned right.
It's called Roadman...is there such a thing as a light rock story telling song?
Maybe...maybe not.
To any that give a listen I hope you found it worthy of your time.
First song on the list: https://www.soundclick.com/artist/de...?bandID=897733
Roadman
Verse 1
Street lights shining down on me. I need to cover ground Got to find an alley before the hawk is out
And I’ve been told, I’m a roadman running....out on the road.
Verse 2
The midwest cold chills to the bone. The south sun has burned my skin.
Well I've known worse addictions, all I know is where I've been.
And I’ve been told, I’m a roadman running....out on the road.
Lead Break
Verse 3
Where I'll be I could not say. What I can carry, is all that I've got.
Still I keep my self respect, I always find a job.
And I am told, I'm just a roadman running....out on the road.
Chorus
Am I chasing freedom, in fear of being trapped?
A way of reaching forward or running from the past?
I won't wear out my welcome....and I always watch my back.
The Roadman' Code.....know when to make tracks.
You've got to know when to boogie.
Verse 4
I guess it's time to jump this train. I got a message from some old friend.
(She said) You've always got a place to stay, only a fool would not accept.
I left the road...but I still think about running.
Out on the road.
Lead Break
Chorus
Vamp to end....

Hmmm.....anyone here ever fantasized about time traveling?
Well....I'll be dipped in shvt....what a coincidence!.....me too.
Well....if anyone needs a diversion:
I'm no Spielberg but thought I'd throw this up against the forum wall anyway.
I wrote/recorded this one back in 1993.
It was an enjoyable write....lots of imagery comes to mind in this context.
Oh....sorry, no rocking guitars in this one....just a fantasy trip for those of like interest.
Thanks to any that give it a spin and hope you found it worthy of your time.
Have a great weekend.

Well....I kinda like being 'wrong' again.
Here's my latest....pimping more of my creative drivel.
I wrote the lyrics complete in 24 hours and music/arrangement took about 2 days before mixing began.
This is very rare for me....I usually take several weeks.
Thanks to any that give it a spin and hope you found it worthy of your time.
Have a great day.
Title: Lone Wolf (Dm – 120bpm) Genre: hmmm….rasty, swamp rock?
I don’t know, the listeners will decide on that.

Verse 1:
I'm the Lone Wolf. Solo's my name. Mind my own business, I like it that way.
Like the Lone Wolf, I keep to myself. Don't want to trouble anyone for help.
Chorus:
The Lone Wolf finds a way to survive. The cold truth, he's not a afraid of a fight.
Verse 2:
Like the Lone Wolf, I don't care to mix. Trust in my senses, keep an eye on my six.
I'm the Lone Wolf, not easy to track. I walk alone and don't run with a pack.
Chorus:
The Lone Wolf watches with serious eyes. The cold truth, he's not afraid of a fight.
Break: Verse music (16 bars)
Bridge: Dm7 Em7 F G (3X) F (1 bar) G (1 bar) Dm (4 bars)
Verse 3:
Now I'm an old wolf. Weary an frayed. Reflecting on life and the choices I've made.
We take a direction, see where it leads. The path that I followed has been working for me.
But nothing came easy, didn't live like a king. If I could do it again I wouldn't change one thing.
Chorus:
The Lone Wolf finds a way to survive. The cold truth, he's not afraid of a fight
The Lone Wolf watches with serious eyes....
Bridge: Dm7 Em7 F G (3X) F (1 bar) G (1 bar) Dm (4 bars)

Howdy Pep....
Well thank you sir....that's a step in the preferred direction.
I say that knowing my songs aren't the bees knees or would be appealing to everyone.
But...I'll throw it against the wall and see if it sticks.
I still don't have a fan base....and, "fan" is singular...it's embarrassing.
I enjoyed fleshing the lyrics and the topic itself...usually takes me forever.

Howdy all....I was wrong again.
Just finished a new one and had the opportunity to employ Ken (klasaine) again to make the song come to life.
Stranger In A Strange Land:
Song about change...."Aging eyes find it hard to embrace it".
I'm really out of my comfort zone on this one.
Sort of a smooth jazz vibe requiring an almost micro-crooning vocal....which is not my strong point.
I have to work with what I have.
Lone Wolf:
Re-mix and totally re-done harmonies.
I thank Ken for his impeccable axe work and collaborative creativity.
He's a pleasure to work with.
First two songs on the *Soundclick* link below.
Thanks to any/all to take the time to give it a spin and hope you found them worthy of your time.

Howdy forumites....
I know....the anticipation of my next submission has been agonizing to endure.
On a serious note....
This is my recent original music project. It’s (7) songs and (1) composition....30 minutes. A collaboration with two other stellar musicians that have contributed their time and talent on my original songs.
In this video I wanted the viewer to be able to attach names and faces (even though I hate pics of myself or drawing attention to myself) with the musicians and the project overall. It's meant to be lighthearted, with a bit of humor, yet candid from my personal life experiences.
It includes pics and lyrics.
To any that do give a listen we thank you giving it a spin and hope you found it worthy of your time.

Verse 1:
In the Age Of Bronze on the Agean sea near the isle of Crete.
Minoan life was so sublime until its destiny.
Fills the mind with ancient scenes and Thera’s busy streets.
Sundry shops and merchants seeking shade in midday heat. Atlantis.
"Atlantis".....according to Plato, that is.
Verse 2:
Myth and written history will sometimes share the road.
Truth or fiction’s fantasy? We all would like to know.
Ships were sheltered from the storms and pirates of the sea.
Sailors called it paradise but it wasn’t meant to be.
Chorus:
Atlantis…lost in glory’s faded centuries. Atlantis…tell your story, end this mystery.

Verse 3
Earth is shaken, thunder roars and ash has blacked the sky.
Before their eyes the waves will rise and day will turn to night.
Nowhere safe and no escape, there was no place to hide.
Forty thousand slipped away as the gods ignored their cries.
Chorus
Atlantis…lost in glory’s faded centuries. Atlantis…tell your story, end this mystery.
Atlantis…show the way, a stone or scroll to read. Atlantis…help us to believe.

Howdy weed hoppers.....
This being 'wrong' thing is getting old.
Yep....I got off of my duff and sculpted another non-hit for my non-existent fan base.
Ken Lasaine on rhythm/lead guitars and I did a limited rhythm track during choruses and outro.
The song title came to me a week ago so I wondered if I could come up with something on such a broad subject.
Well....turns out, after I finished the lyrics I realized I'm talking to my younger self!
Not sure it made a difference in my life quite yet.
Thanks Ken for your creativity.....and thanks to any that give it a spin.

Spread your wings and take a deep breath, what you’ll become lies just up ahead. Every stumble, every sad regret is just a lesson so we won’t forget.
Chorus:
A wild ride on the arrow of time. (It’s the story of life) You’ll have your tales and I have mine. (It’s the story of life)
Verse 2:
You see the line that divides right & wrong. Choose wisely, you’ve got to be strong. Confidence must be unshaken. Just be yourself ‘cause everyone else is taken.

Stay out of trouble and sly like a cat. Know when to walk away and when to push back.
Chorus:
A wild ride on the arrow of time. (It’s the story of life) You’ll have your tales and I have mine. (It’s the story of life)

Well....howdy to my non-existent fan base.
Not and original this time but one I've just re-discovered from decades ago.
Fun to play along with and an easy tune to learn.
It would get people on the dance floor (BTW...I don't dance) and make the bar happy.
Lead players (which, I'm not) will love to vamp on the outtro being E and D.

"Gamblin Man" 112 bpm Key of C
Verse 1:
I had my taste of money knowing when to say ‘hit me’ or ‘stay’.
Every day was sunny, an easy life of beaches and babes.
Some will say I’m lucky, others say I’m out on the prowl. (you betcha’, he just might getcha’)
Nothing lasts forever. I dread the day my luck runs out. (hold on ‘cause it’s comin’)
Chorus:
Gamblin’ was my game, it’s a risky occupation. I never let them see me sweat.
I always read the table, never get impatient and count the cards before I bet.
Verse 3:
Pretend I’m passin’ through, just another face in the crowd.
Stay calm, cool, collected, this is not the place to run afoul. (you know better, could lose your treasure)
Chorus 2:
Gamblin’ was my game, I tried to walk away. Lord knows how hard that I tried.
Tables full of strangers, a life could be in danger. Knowing every exit is wise.

Howdy everyone (or anyone )….I haven't croaked yet.
After finishing up “Atlantis” a few months ago, and being an ancient history junkie, I wanted to select another ancient history topic.
So…here it is….”Molon Labe (Come And Take Them)….an event that occurred in 480BC that most may be familiar with.
My collaborator buddy….Ken Lasaine….is on lead guitar and came up with the initial song concept.

Thanks for stopping by and giving it a spin.
Hope you found it worthy of your time….and have a damn fine eve.
Intro:
Verse 1:
They felt the rumble and a distant roar. One hundred thousand on the hot gates shore.
Seven thousand standing tall and free will only hold them back until day three.
Out of the eastern sun and dressed for war. The heralds’ message is that you’ve been warned.
If you want to live beyond this day, lay down your weapons and walk away.
Chorus: “Molṑn labé!”….it’s the only way. “Molṑn labé!”….it’s here you’ll feel my blade.
Verse 2:
We keep our weapons and our bronze breastplate. There’s no surrender in the Spartan faith.
The fight for freedom is a high priced brawl. They make their stand at the Phocian wall.
Chorus: “Molṑn labé!”….it’s the only way. “Molṑn labé!”….it’s here you’ll feel my blade.
Bridge: Bm7/ A/ G/ Gsus4 to G/ - Bm7/ A/ G/ G to A/
Verse 3:
They say the Persian arrows will eclipse the sun as every man accepts their fate.
Then Dienekes rolls his eyes and states….”then we will fight them in the shade.”
Chorus: “Molṑn labé!”….it’s the only way. “Molṑn labé!”….it’s here you’ll feel my blade.
Lead Break: Verse music + chorus music
Verse 4:
It’s another ancient allegory about the few and the brave.
But winds of change will tell a different story on the plain of Plataea.
Chorus: “Molṑn labé!”….it’s the only way. “Molṑn labé!”….it’s here you’ll feel my blade.
Bridge: Bm7/ A/ G/ Gsus4 to G/ - Bm7/ A/ G/ G to A/
Outro: verse music

Howdy G99....
No rules in song writing so 'the history waste water treatment' is fine, as quirky as it is.
I wrote another about ancient history called "Atlantis". (a few posts back)
Just like my current one here there's a ton of imagery that comes to mind with these subjects.
I'm very particular about lyrics so "imagery" is my song writing focus.
I'll write about any interesting subject that comes to my pea brain......but, no sappy, pablum love songs with forlorn melodies about love lost.
Thanks for chiming in....and keep on writing.

Reveille!....for all you early risers.
Howdy Cap...
Thanks very much for taking the time to check it out.
Steffo....how's things?
Yeah...that image worked perfectly.
That should be image for thought to kick the habit.
OFT....
Interesting thought....but, no....I've never used female vocalists on my material.
My material isn't pop pablum so I doubt there would be much appeal for my efforts.
Some Steely Dan female BGV would be kinda cool.
Plus, I'm pretty paired down from my earlier studio equipment/incarnations to accommodate that effort.
Many thanks to all of you that gave it a spin and the kind comments.
Much appreciated.
(Sorry fans, I'm not through yet. I've just finished a new one called "Be Careful What You Wish For"....it's a cautionary tale which I've never tackled before.
Waiting for my collaborator-in-chief to do his guitar thing)
