My experience from 229 pound to 165 over 4 months.

Had a bit of spare time on my hands so thought id share some hope for those of you trying to lose a few pounds.

So coming into the end of October 2018 i made the faint decision of joining the Army. Now at the time i was 21 and had spent the last 5 years of my life drinking (alot) eating takeaways and in general not so healthy foods with little to no exercise. I had went from a respectable lean 75KG (at 5.9 inch) and lean to 104 KG over the course of what i would cal a downhill mess! After sending the application i drew up a fairly basic but what would turn out to be a very effective weight loss plan. In regards to the diet it was simple and cheap, 1200 Cal per day (Only whole foods) and what many would deem controversial Green Tea (although for me this helped me come off energy drinks as there is somewhere around 43mg of caffeine in each bag) so Green Tea certainly isn't a must but helped me in that regard. Onto the big one! Exercise... Here's where most people will turn away. So to give back story i live 13 mile from work and 5 minutes from my gym. Wake up 7:00am and straight to the gym for 30-60 minutes of medium intensity cardio on a completely empty stomach (Fasted Cardio), then breakfast and straight back to the gym for strength and conditioning training, back home for green tea then out for a jog (Long distance, interval, 1.5 mile test run), then finally its the 13 mile cycle to work, get through the working day then its another 13 mile cycle home we do this 5 days a week with the other 2 days consisting of only fasted cardio and strength training. I wanted to share this and also argue what seens to be a myth floating around weight loss sights which after my experience i completely disagree with. Low Calorie intake VS working out (In my case to the absolute extreme) will burn through muscle, this is absolutely false i am lean and ripped and have built a solid muscle mass from i started this while losing a substantial amount of wight in just a couple of months... I guess the point im making is you dont need fancy weight loss tricks or special tea/tablets to lose weight just the basics. Eat less and exercise more no matter the extreme you decide to take

Every single day I read something in this forum that makes me think "that is the stupidest thing I've read on this forum." And then, every single time, a new competitor steps forward. The level of dipchittery that I read on here is astounding.

OP, I beg of you, post a picture of the lean, ripped, solidly muscled physique that you have built while biking 26 miles, doing 60 minutes of cardio, additional running and strength training five days per week (all while eating in a deficit and losing 64 lbs) in the not even 3 months since late October.

    Repped, Spradish.

Just because you’re stronger than I am.

I got all weak after reading it that I couldn’t respond to him. I just didn’t know where to start.

I’m pretty sure he’s lean and ripped. Exactly like the ones that say they can see six packs while the rest of us can barely see shadow abs.

OP, whatever works for you is fine, as long as it’s your choice and you’re satisfied with it.

The people on here prefer to give healthy and sustainable advice though.

    All the best.

100% i'll post before and after pics later tonight in work atm. My argument isnt that you dont lose muscle mass at all (Maybe a little) but people hide away from taking things to the extreme for fast results cause of myths they find online.

As is said on original post. Most people will turn away from extreme measures yet complain they dont get results while doing the minimum...

Most people who try "extreme measures" for weight loss loses some weight fast and then crash and burn and gain all the weight back and then some.

Well I find you believable OP for what that is worth.

Sounds like you had a sufficient deficit, plenty of muscle stimulus and *bonus* good hormonal profile for this being male and 21.

Too soon to tell though if you can successfully sustain this.

It can happen, but most people will argue against this kind of approach simply because extremes don't work for a lot of people.

True although i would argue this is down to your mentality. Who wants to lose weight to "crash" and gain it all back. Again this wouldnt be a physical reaction its down to YOU

I can understand that and i'll be in basic in a month or so so i'll have no choice! I dont know much about the science behind losing weigh/building muscle just going off personal experience

You're already backtracking. In your OP you state that you have "built a solid muscle mass from i started this while losing a substantial amount of wight in just a couple of months." Again, you claim to have built "a solid muscle mass" while doing the following five days per week:

    - biking 26 miles to/from work
    - 30-60 minutes of cardio at the gym
    - strength and conditioning at the gym
    - running an either "Long distance, interval, [or] 1.5 mile test run"

and doing more cardio and strength training on the two other days per week.

All while eating in about a 2500 calorie deficit per day in order to lose 64 pounds in the past 12 weeks.

i'll wait for the photos to be blown away.. words isn't enough. losing 60+lbs is impressive.

of course anyone can lose a ton of fat by restricting calories and increasing movement/exercise, that is how the body works.

look at the guy that walked coast to coast in 6 months to a year. he lost over 50kg.. and went through a lot of socks. walked most of the day, had to rest a few because of blisters.

what you did is amazing, but many people would stuggle unless you built up the volume over time. mental strength/will power.. soreness/injuries and even having extra time within the day every day are limiting factors - unless you really want it.

post up the pics! where do you plan to go from here?

post up the pics! where do you plan to go from here?
At the time my BMI indicated i was Obese, to enroll for my assessment at the army i needed to lose at least 60 pound to attend. I'll be attending in 6 days from now and i didnt get through injury free thats for sure. One or two occasions i got a flat cycling to work so wlaked/jogged it home, got some pretty nasty stress fractures and feet pains from this i think cause by body had never went that distance before but damn walking coast to coast is an achievement even disregarding the weight loss

Thread absolutely worthless without pix. OP until you post a current pic of yourself you won't have any credibility with your claims.

Very good result and congrats on achieving your goal in such a short period of time. Can’t imagine myself eating that low calories and doing that many exercises everyday.

OP, your transformation looks good. I still question the actual details and timeline but you clearly have made a lot of improvements.

Congratulations on the progress. You should reassess and set new goals for sure now...if this account of events is accurate, it is very well done, but just a little extreme for the majority - for me anyway lol. Also, it will not be sustainable for you much longer, so better change it up.
