I've had this problem my whole life. I have always had unusually large legs, especially for my build. I don't have fat legs, and I know most people would probably prefer bigger, more muscular legs compared to chicken legs, but my problem is that they make me seem much shorter than I am. I'm 5'8, so not very tall to begin with, but my legs make me look shorter than I am and any other guy with skinnier legs than mine looks taller than me. It's odd because my upper body is fairly average while my lower body is just abnormally large for a guy my size. Lets put it this way, if I were 6'8 I would love my legs, but because I'm 5'8 they just make me seem stumpy.
My question is this: Are there any work outs or work out programs I should be doing to decrease the thickness of my legs without training for endurance that will reduce my strength?
Does anybody else have this problem? Just want that big and wide upper body look with slim muscular legs, but my thunder thighs and calves ruin the look.
Thanks

They probably are fat. When you carry fat on your limbs, it doesn't wobble like it would on your stomach.
You didn't say how much you weigh.
You need to lose weight. What you DONT need to do is avoid training leg muscles, we see people try this excuse all the time and it never convinces any of the guys who have years of experience lifting weights.
You will look more in proportion if you work your entire body and lose body fat.

I weigh 165 lbs.
Squat 405 lbs.
I have strong legs. I have sprinter legs. This is why I asked for advice with thinning the muscle out while maintaining strength without doing insurance workouts.
Maybe you just need to read what I wrote again.
But you're right, any layer of fat I might have resides in my legs, just can't target it and can't lose any more weight. This brings me to my original question. Thanks though.

Do you do consistent HIIT cardio a few times a week? What kind of cardio were you doing before? Do you eat clean most of the time? Some people calculate their macros to help them achieve their goal weight and/or body fat percentage? Btw, you are super strong!
Fact: My first-generation uncle was a boxer who fought Sugar Ray Robinson! He also fought in the war, sacrificing the career he deeply loved, so people could have the right to freedom.

So... You weigh 165, squat 405, have solid legs. And the problem is...?
* Walk about really quickly if you think someone is trying to look at your legs
* Make the upper body bigger to match
* Donate your legs to a young bodybuilder who'd be glad to have them
* Learn to love your legs and be pleased
