I feel you man, well, almost. I almost lost my dad about 2 years ago, bladder cancer and a widowmaker heart blockage with a bad valve all at the same time. He had a triple bypass and artificial valve put in. It was sketchy for a few months but he's doing much better now, no sign of cancer either. It's going to take everything inside me to not lose it when he does pass. I'm a drinker so your story really hit home, thanks for that.

I'll give this a go...
Strength: Strength is subjective. It's meaningless unless you have a drive, unless you have a focus and determination. Your goals are what drives you and your strength is what gets you there. I served 10 years in the United States Army. I did a combat tour in Iraq and when I left the service, I was homeless, beaten down and defeated from life. I went through some dark times. I fought night terrors, the loss of my friends in service to combat operations and I felt abandoned. Weakened by what life threw at me, I was determined to fight back and win. I didn't want to be a homeless junkie strung out on pain pills and anti-psychotics. I knew I was better than that. I knew I had a purpose in life. I just had to find myself and draw up some goals to follow. The gym helped me fend off a lot of rage and anger. I lifted with tenacity and vigor. I pounded on those plates. I beat on that iron. I bent that bar and I pushed myself.
The fire inside of you can be your strength. To never give up. To never quit. To always be a winner and to always be winning. Surround yourself with good nature people. Surround yourself with achieve-able goals and push your limits. Strive to be better. Have a positive attitude. Be strong and your outcome will be what you want.
That's strength."Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength."- Arnold Schwarzenegger

Strength to me is not being afraid to find the end of yourself. I've always looked for new challenges physically, mentally, and spiritually. When I took my black belt test it was 2.5 hours of hell that left me raw mentally and exhausted physically..but I didn't give up. When I signed up for a triathlon a few years ago my husband said "you've never swam for distance and it's a 1/2 mile" I said "I've got time to learn" and I did. Every powerlifting meet I've entered I've done and left everything on the table and had no shame about my numbers. Last year I dove into the Spiritual and health benefits of fasting and water fasted for five days straight...felt amazing and had the clearest mind ever. Strength also means finding the end of yourself and not being afraid to ask for help to get further, being humbled by the process and growing.

Really havent been on the board for the past like 2 weeks because of so much going on in my life.
Strength for me is being able to withstand pressure or someone elses strength. Im going to quote Rocky for this but it fits in so well with my definition of strength, and that is "It aint about how hard you hit. Its about how hard you can get hit, and keep on moving forward"
Recently my strength was put to the test when I was layed off from my job because of the change of upper management. Got pretty down in the dumps since it was 7 months I had graduated school and I have been working there ever since. It is super tough to find a job with practically 0 experience, especially what I do as a Mechanical Drafter. But hey, that door closed and another one open. My father needed some help for his business and I decided I wanted to go back to school and change field. My mental strength was put to the test and so far, at this moment, I am happy where I have landed and where I am headed.
Always gotta keep your head up because you never know what can happen in life. Get knocked down 9 times, get up 10...

I appreciate all those that entered. It was tough having to pick 5 winners as I feel you all definitely nailed it on what strength means.
With that said these are the 5 that I selected. Keep an eye out for the next promo in February for another shot to win some Blue Star goods.
