The swap has landed. Partial 30ml of Aoud Absolu Precieux + 30ml partial of Areej Le Dore Koh-i-Noor for this.


First impressions: I would never seek this out to purchase it, especially at full retail. But as a swap for 2 fragrances I struggled to wear? Very happy so far. Opens with Bergamot and Grapefruit, with the same sparkling champagne character as Roja vetiver. I was initially pissed cause i thought it leaned too feminine but it dries down to a more unisex base made up primarily of Cumin, Vanilla, and Sandalwood. Formal occasion friendly, office friendly, spring/summer casual errands friendly, it's pretty versatile. Just probably won't get many reaches for these winter nights, it's also not as initially "stunning" as Kuwait which you would want with this price/name/presentation. Not sure if I'll keep or swap yet again.

Last one I had (actually a needed one for my always fuked up shoulder) the chick running the scan let me dangle my locker key into the bore of the magnet... it was legit one of the coolest things I've ever done. I was basically walking around the room in a robe trying to map out the magnetic field.

Ahh i should have guessed Nuwa. Ballsy blind swap brah. First time i smelled it, i thought it was pretty good. I got a sample and it was unending dry spice and rose on me so i never looked any further. The dry down is nice, but it takes some worth getting there.

It looks solid, but tired of the swap circus. Tired of taking shots, and the Nuwa is prob the best desk ornament I've had to date lol. We'll see.

My first advice is throw out any genuine expectation of oud. Genuine oud is highly particular to the point where real oud creators will explain how this Cambodian, Indian, Chinese, or Laos based oud differs from other regions in their descriptions. Meanwhile FdB will say "from our oud plantations based in Asia..." like that isn't a gigantic fuking continent of various regions and growing conditions. They also use terms like "vintage oud", with no explanation of what that is.


If you cut through all THAT bullchit, they make some nice aromas. Better than MFK fragrances for sure. Performs better than most Rojas (projects a little more for a little bit longer). I just tend to stay away from them because A) they're more difficult to find in the gray market and B) they're harder to move if you bite on one you don't like as much as you thought. You can wheel&deal Rojas all day long but Fragrance du Bois? You may as well be dealing with Ensar Oud Oils.

Thanks gents. The whole real sustainable Oud bs really didn’t grab me, its a nice but irrelevant marketing pitch. What peaked my curiosity was the comments on quality. Roja got my nose spoiled atm and I’m looking to explore houses of the same “pedigree”.

The London Oud was apparently made for David Hays the British boxer.
