So here's a weird thing. I had a decant of plum japonais and found it to be a really formal scent for a more mature guy. Sprayed a couple times but never wore to go out. I felt it was a scent for guys like ninja and Charles.


Yesterday I took a whiff of the nozzle and felt like it smelled much nicer than I remembered it. Still, more suitable for old guys but it was pretty beautiful with the juicy plum notes. This is the first time in my life I felt a scent was meh, then came back months later and enjoyed it.

If I smelled this scent on a gentleman I'd immediately think "yeah this dude is loaded as fuk". Performance is nuclear as well. One spray, max 2 and you're set.

Where my boy Darkninja at? I look at your avi and just feel like this scent is PERFECT for you man. Srs.

Extrait is thicker, more weighted, syrupy and sensual. EDP has a more airy, mineral feeling to it. I get more of the cotton candy vibe in the EDP. I'd say the EDP feels like it dances around you while the extrait feels like a solid scent bubble. EDP is like the day version you use as a more versatile option and the extrait is more for the night/dates. If I had to choose only one I'd go for Extrait as I think the thick creamy vibe makes it more beautiful. Also, I smell the extrait the full time I have it on while I go anosmic to the EDP. Not totally, I still get whiffs through the day but sometimes I don't smell it at all. EDP definitely projects further out and will turn heads more than the extrait I think. I feel like the EDP and the sensation it gives is how the scent was meant to be. But my heart says Extrait.

I will smell something and not be too impressed and then I will put it down and not smell it for a long time (weeks or months) and then go back to it and I smell a different side to it. I pick up on different notes and the overall vibe is different - that's how I feel right now with my BR540 Extrait. It still smells similar to how I previously experienced it, but my brain is just handling it different. Also, I layered it today with Santal 33 and holy cow it is beautiful.

Yeah it's weird how that thing happens about picking up different notes and starting to get that attachment. I'm starting to like the oud for greatness more and more as well. It still has that vegetal smell that think will keep it back from being closer to perfection...but it still has an addictive quality I enjoy.

I'll look up santal33... I saw a guy on a ******** group do that same layer recently.

2-3 sprays is fine. For a date, 2 sprays is perfect. I always believe in the "less is more" philosophy.

And just like that - boom - off to a great start in 2020. This is the freshie from PdM I was hoping for. Where Percival smelled like urinal cakes, Sedley smells like a lighter, fresher Bleu de Chanel EDT. It's bright and citrusy, yet has some woodsy notes to give it some backbone.

Performance seems average, 3 sprays from the 5ml decant gives off adequate scent trails without overpowering. So far so good.

How is it compared? BP is the one Kilian scent I've been wanting to but haven't been able to try yet.

Let's put it this way. You had on the clone and I had on the original for about 45 mins. You walk past a group of people and then 5 mins later I walk past the same group. They're probably gonna think we had on the same fragrance.

That said,

Clone: Has a harsher and more bitter opening with the coffee note. As a wearer this is very noticeable to me and it's slightly off putting. It slowly begins to die down and becomes much more tolerable after 30-45 mins but it's still always there. The sweetness from the chocolate feels muted like a darker chocolate as compared to caramel/milk. There is definitely more of a masculine woody touch in the clone. I don't think I get much of the boozy vibes in the clone. Like your mind has to stretch to make the connection.

Original: Sweeter, more caramel like. Coffee is smooth straight off the bat. I don't really get much woods. Boozier and beautifully blended. Leans more unisex.


End of the day, if you aren't crazy about the scent, but you appreciate it and want a gourmand fragrance that will definitely turn heads and get you compliments, get the clone. It's like 1 dollar per 1ml roughly. That's a ton of wearings for the price and it's pretty good minus the slightly harsh opening which gets better as it dries down.

So yeah just get the clone. If you want the best of the best and utter perfection though, you gotta pony up for the original. I'd say maybe get the clone, and if you love it get a small decant of the original. Use clone casually, use original for special occasions.
