As the saying goes, "all that glitters is not gold." I've been on a bitchin Bond streak lately...

I've got a blend in the works for this that dials up the Gin accord, and adds a leather presence to it as well. I might dial up the citrus a bit more, and then it'll just need (probably a little more cardamom—or a sweet spice) to finish it off.

Haven't been working on it lately, because I need more materials. It's a concept idea though, that I've started and thought would have great potential, given how appealing, yet underwhelming the fragrance is to most.

I did the same for the new Gucci Guilty Cologne and turned it into a Niche version of the fragrance. It smelled super natural and ritzy.

There is no "masking" or 'taking down' other notes—only adding something to them.

If you want to change the composition like that, you have to dial up whatever notes you want to keep (alongside whatever it is you add).

Yeah I got a little Tootsie Roll size sample of that the last time I was in Saks. You're right, it's pretty nice if you like Aventooos.

Scent of the Day: Maison Francis Kurkdjian - Angel Tears (Baccarat 540 Extrait)

Lol, wont lie I love these bottles.

I like the original bottles better. I don't hate these new bottles, I just find the original bottles more aesthetically appealing.

Yeah the original bottles are definitely classier. I really like those presentations. Still like these new bottles though lol, that whole collection would be sick af.

I think Coalman has his geographic location working in his favor for being fond of those bottles. If i lived in Miami that has that tropical climate, palm trees outside, apartment buildings very modern with white marble... those bottles would look sick in an all white bathroom in a climate with that sort of vibe.

Living on the east coast or the midwest in a brick and wood loft? Yeah those bottles would look silly af in my old place lol. They're not ugly by any stretch of the imagination, i just think they'd need the right setting.

I have these samples in my Luckyscent cart. I have how the Luckyscent samples are just in a small vial but I've been wanting to get my nose on some of these. What do you think? Any I should cut from the list? Or add that LS carries?

Be careful with Piotr Czarnecki samples. if you like a vial from luckyscent, the next thing to do is to grab a 5ml sample and do multiple wears before copping a bottle.

I purchased a bottle after enjoying a tiny luckyscent vial. and ultimately determined it was unwearable and just smelled good off paper but not a good personal scent. had to sell it at a steep loss. Nishane Ani is gourmandy and creamy as all hell. You'll love it or hate it. As for Thameen, they're like Memo for me in the sense that i have yet to smell a sample from them i DIDNT like but i never seem convinced to pull the trigger on a full bottle.

For me, Carved Oud scores a perfect 10 nearly across the board. Great quality, nice price point, and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that flat out doesn't like it but as with all ouds, it's harder to wear in the summer. Even with my horribly snobbish/sensitive nose that is annoyed with PdM and Mancera frags... Memo and Thameen get the nod of approval. MFK tier without the MFK price tag.

HA! Unfortunately i'm still a one watch peasant. My Oris Artix GT Chrono on strap holding me down in "smart casual" situations. Thankfully i'll be acquiring my "go anywhere do everything" 41mm Aqua Terra next month.

Killed it on the outfit level though. I wore a custom button up i ordered from Cotton Society, made exactly to my measurements. Mini collar, with dark brown buttons. Jet black levi jeans, and my Allen Edmond Dalton boots (that match the buttons of the shirt).

My boy. Feeling a little upset stomach today so didnt wear fragrance. But thinking now maybe the angel tears would have healed me lol.

You know, this is actually a solid point. Everything here is really colorful. Even with homes....there are very very few residential gated communities that share a common house palette with those boring colors that I often see in the USA. Most people here just build their own houses in whatever pieces of land they own and paint them whatever they want. I've seen strings of neighbors coordinate their houses to show off a bunch of different colors lol.

I have a few vials of it still—it's a bit too bitter for my tastes.

The extrait was nicer, you actually get some coffee blossom in it. Although a bit polleny, it adds a lot of sophistication to the fragrance.

As always, thanks for all your input. Looking forward to the samples coming in. I’ll make sure not to go from a luckyscent 1ml vial to a full bottle of anything, but rather getting a larger sample/decant to be able to wear it more and getting a more complete opinion on it.
