Bleu de Chanel today. Had mixed a tiny little bit of the EdT (or regular?) in with the Parfum because the EdT wasn't spraying much initially. Smelled pretty much just like Himalaya (well, the opening, anyway).

Don't think I am going to bother much with smelling cologne on test strips anymore. Just seems like it smells so much different once you wear it.

Need to think of what samples I want to grab next. Could maybe bring the mini decants over to the creed counter, but it sounds like that might get me swatted now.

Strong this! paper gives you a pretty decent idea of what the fragrance smells like but it cant tell you how it will smell and develop once it gets on your skin

Been a miscer a while and a cologne enthusiast even longer its time I combine the two

I keep it simple w/ the standards, JPG Le Male is my lifelong workhorse, Got Acqua Di Gio, 1 Million, CKOne and some sample atomizers of Eros, Sauvage and Eau Sauvage (Steve McQueen slayer story got my attention)

Next stop is some Aventus, so if any of you do samples let me know cos I dunno if I trust the ebay dudes

It's a gorgeous scent, perfect for the fall and cooler weather. One of my all time favorites.

CK One Shock is very, very similar and can be had for around $21 for 100ml shipped on eBay. Definitely worth checking out.

Yeah agreed, Aventoos is too popular now and the scent profile is not quite anymore a "woah what is THAT you're wearing" type thing. So many clones, and even Aventus itself is known in the non fragrance world.

Sotd was Sausage. It's just way too hot these days and I'm starting to gravitate to the lighter, simpler scents. I dont have Aventus but I'm enjoying my sample of Elysium more than CDNIM. Despite all the listed notes, it's much more simple, lighter and more beautiful to my nose.

I think my next journey is gonna be into those type of scents. Simple and beautiful. I'm thinking Bal D'Afrique and Aqua Celestia and Gentle Fluidity Silver off the top of my head. Maybe a few more MFKs.

Finally, my package should be here in a couple days. I have some decants of some frags I've been dying to try for a long time. Will give reviews when they're here ofc.

If sloop says it's really similar to CK One Shock I'd trust his nose. Now, I own CK one shock and for the price it's the best frag in my collection along with Versace Man Eau Fraiche. I got the 200 ml for really cheap and it's a sweet cherry tobacco with some amber and resins. Strangely enough it's not very cloying with a little heat from the weather especially as it dries down, as the sweetness lessens and the tobacco and resins take over.

Another note is that it manages to not smell old mannish for this type of scent. It has a playful and youthful vibe, yet still someone to respect if you nom sayin. Situation to wear is cooler weather date and the vibe it gives off is a manlier and stronger alternative to la nuit.

Can confirm, smells just like that. Great value frag, lasts all day, too.

MFK's aren't the most complex scents around, but the quality of the frags and wearability of them is second to none. The two you picked would fit well with what you described you want to move closer to.

Weird part is I'm pretty confident I'd buy a bottle of Elysium over Aventoos. I like it.

Sotd is Bond #9 New York Oud.

As a guy who's okay with unisex scents, this one has me a little uncomfortable. I'm trying to give rose a chance but it just reminds me too much of older women's fragrances. Now for what it is, the oud is very slight here and I got alot of rose and saffron. There's definitely musk and the sweetness in this frag comes from something other than vanilla. I'm not sure. The quality of the blend is pretty good, the dry down feels much smoother to me than the opening. But it is a tad synthetic, the only other rose fragrance I've tried was By Kilian Cruel Intentions which to my nose was better than this. It was less feminine and the sweetness felt like it came from vanilla which I prefer. Also the woods felt more prominent in the Kilian.

So yeah, New York Oud is good for what it is. The performance is excellent and I feel 1 or 2 sprays on a classy elegant lady would be really attractive.

Yea i dont remember Scandal being anyting special either Elysium has grown on me. I prefer the parfum over the sharper blue bottle. And def prefer it to aventus at this point which i can barely smell the rare occassions i wear it. My wife who rarely comments on stuff i wear said she liked that one several hours after i put some on.
