    Anyone use an inversion table

Anyone have and use one? What do you think about them?
I am thinking about getting one.
I have tightness sometimes in low back(had a herniated disc a couple years ago) and also in hips when I squat heavy and also up in my upper spine near shoulders/neck. Tight up there too a lot of times.

I've read good things about the tables.

I have one. It feels pretty good like everything is going back where it's supposed to be. I have a lot of lumbar pain, and it's better when I do inversion...but I do other rehab exercises for it, too.

I do the poor mans decompressing after squat and deadlift hanging from a bar with either my hands or ab straps slowly twisting the hips and going side to side very carefully .
    Feels really good.
I suppose the inversion unit would be good also.

Cool that's what I need. I've never been to a chiro except a free consultation and on the machine I had tension in upper and lower back. Think I'll get a table. Keep me over 6' too lol. Don't wanna shrink I heard they help keep you from naturally shrinking. Not sure if that's true but can't hurt.

they are pretty cheap. As low as 80 bucks I've seen. I'd prob get one at least 200 though as they seem more sturdy.

My mom has a really nice one, but as far as I'm concerned it's a Chinese torture chair. I have serious sinus and allergy issues. There is never a moment that I'm not at least a little congested. Hanging with my head low is a recipe for pain.

I have one but can not really hang to long since I can not handle the blood rushing to my head for that long. Suggest you trying one out first before you buy one. It also double as a situp machine.
If you put in the effort it's not a matter of if, but when.

I read you're supposed to only go to 25-30deg at first and slowly work to full inversion.

When I stop at my mom's house, I hop on her inversion machine. Feels pretty darn good when your back pops 2-3 times. I only use it once every month or so.

I've had one for 15 years. I use prolly 2-3 times a week for a few minutes at a time. I've had low back issue for eons and between this table and core work my back is purty strong.

Highly recommend...especially if you have back issues

I read you have to take it slow for some ppl. Not to invert all the way at first.

I ordered one. The ironman 4000 it was 179.00 only and is rated highly. I will give review when I try it. It should be a good addition to the home gym v

You are 100% correct, have done your proper research. I have a compressed disc, and arthritis in my lower back from years of rugby. I have to say it made a big difference and didnt take too long to notice it. The hardest part for me is the concentration and relaxing. You really need to focus on letting gravity pull and stretch you. Definately need to see a chiro though to get the main adjustments done and then the table will help maintain. I now use mine maybe once every other week off season and after every practice and game and no issues. Also good to note, hamstring flexibility will have a dramatic impact on the effectiveness of the table, as well as no standing toe touches. They compress the discs in the wrong direction. Keep us posted. Cheers

I've got one and use it every now and again.

I do see a chiropractor weekly and that has helped immensely. I had to find a good one though, some are quacks and certainly don't know anything about lifting.

My current chiropractor is a power lifter/rugby player and understands sports related issues. I've been seeing him for over a year now and since then I've not had any of the nagging issues I had with my lower back previously.

His recommendation about the inversion table was not to go to full inversion even if you have been using it for a long time. 45-50 degrees or until you feel the tension, and don't do the back twisting and pulling like the guy from the teeter-hangups commercial.

What do you mean by compresses it in the wrong direction? You can't bend down and touch your toes?

I'm glad you said "very carefully" about the twisting thing.... it's a risky movement and not really necessary

I prefer plain old dead hangs with a few extra KGs hanging from a dip belt, just chill there for 3-5 minutes
I know i'm skinny, and i know my abs don't count

Anyone have and use one? What do you think about them?
I am thinking about getting one.
I have tightness sometimes in low back(had a herniated disc a couple years ago) and also in hips when I squat heavy and also up in my upper spine near shoulders/neck. Tight up there too a lot of times.

I've read good things about the tables.
I have one. Use to use it regularly, but never got that much from it. Now more occasional use. Some people clearly benefit from inversion, but seems only way to find out is to get one and try it.

At an age as early as 17, I did have to put up with mild backpains due to a herniated disc too. Well, I say put up since I really wasn’t much of an outdoor kid. Anyways, to cut this short, my lower back wasn’t really strong and it was either painkillers or doing a couple of stretches daily.
Since shoving medicine down my gut really isn’t my thing, I opted for physical therapy and more specifically, inversion therapy is what worked best for me since over time, the pressure on my sciatic nerve was relieved from the consistent stretches. Yes, it did take some time and I did have to incorporate other kinds of stretches but it was definitely worth it in the end. Anyways, patience and consistency is all it takes.

It’s nice, but takes up a lot of storage space.

Its mainly good for posture and stress and will help a little with your back pain.

I think if you plan to use it longtime then it might be worth it.
