does this routine seem good for a novice wanting to build muscle?

    https://breakingmuscle.com/workouts/...ious-mass-gain

my only concern is that it's quite a bit more volume than i've done before. the article doesn't specify if the routine is for any particular fitness level. will somebody with enough knowledge to be sure of their answer reply please?

This seems to be the 5th or 6th question you've asked about programs this year.

How long have you stuck to any one program?

i did fierce 5 for several months (over 3 probably), stronglifts for around 3 months, and 5/3/1 for beginners for almost 3 months.

i haven't asked about 5 or 6 different programs before. i might have reposted because i didn't get recommended a program i liked doing yet. i liked 5/3/1 for beginners, but i'm going from cutting to lean bulking / recomp and i doubt 5/3/1 is good for that since it involves low weight and only set sets of 5 reps.

Low weight? What? Really?? Aren't you supposed to start low and then gradually work up to heavy?

There is a pattern here --> 3 different programs, all of which start with a lower weight and progressively increase.

It is supposed to start easy, around the 2 or 3 month mark it should be very tough, that is the point when you would really start getting some payback but this is also the point when you hop to a different program. When the going gets tough... you run away.

Now I know that was a bit of a rude comment and I genuinely don't like making rude or discouraging comments but I just don't know how else to say it. There is no program I can recommend that is genuinely effective that doesn't get tough and not enjoyable at some points.

If you want to stay in your comfort zone the whole time and still make great progress find a different hobby, this one is slow and takes disproportionate amounts of effort (suitable for masochists). Sorry.

Edit: this is intended as "tough love" if you're still on 5/3/1 for beginners, stick to it and don't program hop.

Stop jumpingprogtams every 3 months. pick one, run it untill all your gains have been exhausted and you've followed the progression and rest protocols.

Also, 531 is low weight...you're using 80-95% pf your 1 RM..

Sets of 5 also build muscle and stength...thats primarly all i do anymore.

most of the sets in 5/3/1 are 70% of your training max. progression is also slower than in linear progression programs. i want a routine that progresses faster since i'm still a novice.

why does nobody just answer the simple question?

Because this isn't a problem to do with routines, its a problem of you not utilizing the routines properly. You've already ran the programs that people would recommend, there's nothing wrong with any of these options, the problem is with you having program hopping ADHD.

If you had just stayed put and ran Fierce 5 for 10 months straight rather than running 3 different routines in the same span of time then you would (probably) be lifting too heavy weights at this point to be able to run a novice routine.

Why don't you simply take the advice given by your "personal trainer", it's obvious he's smarter than anyone here.

    No....its not a good program.

    Your "personal trainer" is wrong.

Go back on fierve 5 for the next 6 months and follow it ad it is intended.

Ive been doing the same lifts/routine for the past 3 years. Always changing routines luke you're doing is not a good idea.. respite what sold called persinal trainers, who get paid to keep you as a client by the gym, say.

How do you honestly expect to make fast progression when you're on a 500-1000 calorie deficit?

I know quite well how 5/3/1 works, and I know that your statement "it involves low weight and only set sets of 5 reps." is dreadfully wrong.

I also know that progression is not limited to the 10/5 lbs you add each cycle, because of how the PR set (formerly AMRAP) and joker sets work.

Maybe you should look at Fierce 5. And maybe not quit it
