225 rl is demi god status have seen mby like 3-4 guys do that and two of them were 400+lbs bench pressers and one was latvian strongman who placed 11 in recent year WSM(he didnt ohp 225 though ,it was in range of 340 or so pounds)

I think you'd be surprised how good people get on OHP when they focus on it, it's just not a lift most people really give much attention unfortunately. I don't train in a commercial gym though, but i know a natty for example who OHP's 225 for a few reps and only benches around 330, as well as a 19 year old natty kid who can hit it for 5-6 reps, and a natty 87kg vegeterian who can OHP 270 lol.

Look at the new video of Larry wheels doing a 405 OHP for 2 reps. The title says "OHP'ING your bench max". Jokes on him that's my deadlift max.

But thats a strong OHP, OP. In real life standards at least. I barely see anybody doing that lift and I've been to a few different gyms. If someone is doing 135 I'm usually like "das it mane"

By non misc standards? 185 if you weigh anywhere from 160-200. 225 if above 200.

OHP is a hard fukn lift, no way around it. I see maybe 8-9 guys in my entire gym even bench 225, let alone OHP it.

Maybe I lift in a weaker gym, but some of the numbers I'm seeing casually tossed around in this thread seem way too high

I'll chime in. When I was dirty bulking in high school, clean and jerked 215 and benched 225 @ 193lb friggin 25%bf, I was able to hit 175 for 2, but my weightlifting team didn't train the shoulder press, I did it for funzies and my coach was like "STAHP! YA OVAH-TRAINING!". Now that I'm getting back to lifting, I currently can do 60lb dumbbells for 4 clean reps @ 177lbs. 17-19%bf, so that's what, maybe a 135 single at best given the right training? I know, I know, I'm a wuss. For now, I'll stick with the 6-12 rep range work on that muscular contraction. OHP strength takes time, and even the slow healthy cut I'm doing right now isn't making things easier.

I'll humble myself further, my current working sets for standing dumbbell press is 45lbs for sets of 6, maybe 7. I do them at a 2-second up 2-second down tempo, but still... with leg drive might I add. I'm a sham, washed up, a hasbeen and not a good one at that.

Depends what you train really. BB press does target your muscles differently and has a different feel than DB press.
