    Hip Exercises But Tight Hips?

Hi! Recently I was told that I have tight hips. When I go to the gym, part of my exercise routine has always been the Hip Abduction/Adduction Machines. Why have these not helped and what else should I be doing?

Look up some stretches to improve hip mobility.

Imho, I don't like these machines-I think they are inferior to free weights and other typical machines in the gym. Do you have tight hip flexors from sitting too much or regular biking, running, squatting, etc .? That could be why those machines "have not helped you." Is your lower back tight? Glutes or hamstrings tight? Dynamic stretching helps my tight hip flexors; I swing each leg back and forth in front of me, or angled side to side, depending on my natural range of motion. I do these both before and after my lower body workouts. I'm sure there many other hip flexor stretches to possibly try -did you look them up on this website (or links to?). Did a physical therapist recommend any for you?

I have a couple of friends who practice MMA, and they swear by this — ballet is the best for overall flexibility. You don't have to be good at it, but learning the concepts would definitely help you with your hip problem. Also, it's not a bad way to meet women.
