    Sprinting not effective?

I’m theory, sprinting should be an exercise thag exerts so much out of you. While I try to do just that, I just can’t get winded after I sprint. My sprints are 40 yards a piece, as fast as I can (I think). Am I just not pushing myself enough? I would like to believe I am trying to move as quickly as possible. Would adding weight, like a vest, help at all? Or maybe Hill sprints? Their obviously harder but I can’t understand why I don’t get winded after a few all out sprints. Or I’m just not maximizing my potential and I can actually run quicker?

PS: Sorry for the confusing ass post 😂😂😂

First off, you have a young heart and lungs, so that always helps! I think hill sprints would be excellent. Do them as "balls to the wall" (anywhere fro 10-30 seconds) working intervals and you could try them if shorter recovery periods to keep your heart rate up. You could also try doing your all out 100 meter sprints (at the track) and continue to run at a fast pace around the lap. I guarantee by the time you've reached the next lap, you'll be getting your aerobic (oxygen) going as well. My point: try experimenting with different meters and rest intervals. If you don't feel you're "fast enough" now, this might help to increase a 60 meter sprint even more. I also think adding a vest is a great idea. Good luck!

Try running 10 40 yard sprints every minute on the minute. If you still arent winded, let me know I want to be your agent and sign you with Adidas or UnderArmor lol.

Sprinting should be close to 100% effort. If you're not tired, you're not pushing yourself enough. What's your average 40 time right now?

Very slow. Like 5.2 seconds. But that’s what I figured, I appreciate it man.

Just in addition to the above excellent answers, perhaps You should just try longer distances? 60m, 100m, even longer if you can. Depends what you're trying to achieve. If it's just to get yourself sucking for air, then that'll do it.

I agree, if you don't get winded by this, you should consider choosing a more uphill place to run. Also, it could just be that your adrenaline is pumping after each sprint (since it's so much fun!). But this doesn't mean that your sprints aren't effective. But if you're looking for a challenge, you could also try running in mountainous regions to push yourself.
