    Android vs iPhone 2019

Which one, looking to get a new phone. Currently on an iPhone 7. Battery life is kind of disappointing, but I love how all of the Apple products interact with one another (Have used an Apple Watch before, I don’t think there is an android equivalent that compares) whereas android is something different that I used to have when I first started college. Wut do?

Cool. Wasn't a sales pitch, just a quick opinion. If you like iPhone then that's cool I'm not one to judge.

It's just fact that most flagship Android phones have many more features then iPhone. That's not even debatable

Has this argument ever really changed since the iPhone 3G? Androids have more flexibility/storage options but offer you an absolutely third-world country operating system.

Apple has the best operating system around but it ties you up into their proprietary fukery universe. I've switched back and forth between both. Apple pisses me off with their hardware restrictions, I go to android for the "freedom" but then immediately missing the beauty of the iPhone interface.

Android interfaces certainly as bad as they have been. But the texting alone is still so poverty for me to look at even in the latest android drops.

My Pixel 3 is bare bones Android. Developed by Google straight from Google. Smooth as ice. Texting is the exact same as my iPhone was, including group texts.

5 years ago I would've agreed with you but it's almost apples to apples anymore.

smartphone tech has peaked the past two years.

either option is great (we are talking about flagship phones, not the cheapo free androids)

I just like the ease of use of android phones when it comes to putting music, videos, and other files onto the device vs apple's offerings (android's drag and drop, so easy a caveman could do it)

apple makes it difficult for me to do these with the requirement of itunes and if I want to use multiple computers the sync crap might end up deleting your previous files.

I have attempted to switch to Android 3 times since the original iPhone came out. Every time, I have returned the phone and got an iPhone. The last time, I decided I was sick of trying to switch over and I would be an iPhone user for life. Don't own or like any other Apple products besides the airpods because they're easy.

I was in the same boat. Tried a few times and always went back right away. Finally switched again this year out of shear boredom of iOS.

It's way easier to switch now then ever. You may want to give it another shot if you haven't done it in a while.

You cant go wrong with todays phones. If you have apple products its better to just get an iphone. If you want to try all new system id get the Pixel because its the cleanest android and not filled with bloat. Idk how the bloat is on the newer samsung but I had a s7edge and it was pretty sluggish and had to go in an manually disable samsung apps. Currently have the pixel 2 and love how fast and snappy it is

All I currently have is an iPhone. I do like the seemless integration but I also miss my old android phones for other reasons.

Now a days it comes down to the OS which one you want.

Galaxy Note 9 fantastic phone, pixel 3 XL fantastic as well imo. I have both along with a iPhone XS max and if I were too mainly use android it would be one of those two devices. Or to save some money the oneplus 6T as well is a great android device and cheaper.

All amazing devices that you won't have a issue with just depends on if you want android over iOS or iOS over android.

Now if you add smart watches and integration, apple watch hands down best smart watch better then my tic watch and gear s3 on android. Along with that you got the iPad/Mac integration with your icloud account.

I had an original Pixel XL that I got at launch two years ago. I was waiting to see the Pixel 3, but it was a huge disappointment, so I just picked up an iPhone XS. Very happy. Android does notifications much better, and the Pixel camera is definitely better for photos, but iPhone does the best video IMO and everything else is a much more polished experience. The new gesture navigation on the Pixel line is ****.

Lol I never understood why people bash the gestures... It's not a Pixel thing it's an Android pie thing.

Don't the new iPhones use gestures...

Apple pisses me off with their hardware restrictions, I go to android for the "freedom" but then immediately missing the beauty of the iPhone interface.

Android interfaces certainly as bad as they have been. But the texting alone is still so poverty for me to look at even in the latest android drops.
I agree with this except for the UI part.

Apple has horrible marketing practices. They lock things down so that they can later pitch it as a 'marketing ploy'. (example, doing away with headphone jack to sell their air-buds). Apple has a track record of selling dated hardware in newer models. Their hardware is WAY overpriced. Customer service with them in the past has been problematic.

Their only selling point is iOS, which is pretty decent for the average user. But my mind is blown how Apple fanboys don't see through Apple's marketing ploys. SMH.

This debate is getting pretty old tbh. Literally this is a weekly thing and its the same BS on both sides of the argument. If you're looking for something new OP then get an Android. If you want to continue with the Apple line then do it. You won't be disappointed with the newest iPhone. I just got the XS Max and love it so far. IOS is something you know and have used in the past. You said yourself about the Apple watch. If that is something you currently own or want to own then why consider an Android?

I've had many iPhone models as well as Androids. Pixels, Notes, S8 plus etc. etc. I always end up going back to Apple. The only good thing about Android phones in my opinion is the customization. I would always use Nova launcher on my phones. After a while they get boring just like an iPhone does and you want another new one anyway. Apple phones have a better OS, better battery and generally just seem to run better for longer imo.

I will just leave this right here:

    Bolded part is objectively false.
    - Their CPU is objectively the best cpu in the mobile industry.
    - Their oled screen is objectively the best mobile oled screen at the time of release. Then the subsequent samsung has a better oled. Then the subsequent iphone has a better oled. etc etc.
    - Apple uses the newest intel modem in their phone. Dated? nope. Does it have issues with reception? Forums show yes. Does that mean it's dated? No.
    - Apple is the first to 7nm CPUs. Apple's last years CPU still beats every single android CPU.
    - Apple's faceID hardware is nowhere to be found on any android phone yet. But i guarantee you in 1-2 years they'l have it. An iris scanner found on many androids that is fooled by a picture doesn't count as comparable tech to apple's faceID.

"Dated" hardware? Sure maybe in the apple XR but every phone manufacturer uses dated hardware for their lower tier phones. that's why they cost 200-700 instead of 900+. Unless you're talking about non iphone products like the macbook. I'm not up to date with the current state of macs because my 2013 model still runs like new. Either way, this thread is about iphones vs androids so saying apples non-phone line has dated hardware doesn't really matter imo because high end iphones aren't dated.

Overpriced? Absolutely. And that would be a usable argument except every high end phone is overpriced [pixel, galaxy/note]. Don't get me started on the RED phone. I guess you can say that you can get a flagship android for half price a few months after release but I'm going of day 1 MSRP.

Now for their business practices? That's a perfectly valid argument. Apple has terrible business practices. Unfortunately, everybody tends to follow them a year or two later.
    - removing headphone jacks left and right. The pixel, which is supposed to be the flagship android, doesn't have a headphone jack anymore. now i'm reading rumors that the galaxy s10 will remove it as well (hope that's not true)
    - adding notches left and right. pixel has a notch 2x as big as apples, yet doesn't have the accompanying faceID tech. Samsung is going about the notches correctly. But we'll see how people like their new infinity display with the camera hole. Personally i'd rather have a small top bezel than a camera cutout within the display itself.

As for the video, It only brings up three issues with iphones over a decade of phones. Samsung's track record is worse. Pixel's track record is worse even though they only have 3 years of phones. I can post issues with the android phones over the years and if you want me to I can do that later tonight. Three easy ones off the top of my head are the note 7 exploding fiasco, pixel 1 speaker issues, pixel 2 LG oled issues due to no quality control .
Let's tackle the main hot issue people through out these dates. Throttling via software updates. Oh, that thing that samsung was fined millions for for doing?
    https://www.consumeraffairs.com/news...es-102518.html

On a personal note, all I can say is my experience with apple has been 10/10 regarding customer service
    - Accidentally bought the ebooks instead of audio books for game of thrones via itunes ~10 years ago. They refunded me immediately and gifted me the audio books.
    - fedex lost my apple watch3 package. apple shipped a second no questions asked and when i offered to return the eventual lost package delivery, they told me to just keep it.
    - replaced the hdd on my fiance's 2012 macbook with a ssd but didn't have the os to install? they offered to install it for me on the new ssd, no problem even though it's way out of warranty and using non-apple parts.
These are purely anecdotal but most people i know had similar experiences. When my friends Iphone 6 acted up2 years after purhasing, they straight up gave him a new iphone 7 and called it a day. I had the exact opposite experience trying to talk to samsung about issues with my samsung galaxy s7e. Worst customer service I've ever experienced and it played a large part as to why i switched back to apple.

Apple at the very least has a well working, cohesive ecosystem. You're going to pay a premium for that though.

    tldr;
apple has a lot of good stuff going for it
    so does android
go through the pros and cons of both and make a decision with them in mind.
    neither are perfect
neither will be perfect anytime soon
both are probably good enough for anything you'l do with them.

    Yes.

There just isn't a good file structure to organize the photos without itunes/other software. But you can connect your iphone via usb, open the iphone up in windows file explorer, then drag/drop

apple's faceID is the most frustrating thing about picking up the new iphone.

when it works, it works, but not as fast or easy as touch ID.. I stare at the "lock" symbol every single time with anxiety that its going to fail

..my god when it doesn't work... it ruins the entire experience of easy entry and easily a deal breaker. I understand trying to go bezel-less, but the fingerprint scanner through the screen is actually the best method and most innovated tech i've seen so far.
