How to do bodybuilding at home with no gear

    Hello everybody
I lost my job and I spend my days at home, not nice at all I can tell you. When you loose you job many other bad things seem to happen all together. I fight often with my wife because of money. I can't do sports because of money. I feel kind of shy if I go out with friends, both because I have no money and because they know I am jobless it's kind of awkward for me to meet them
Honestly I don't have the money to pay for a gym and very little or almost nothing to pay for gear.
I have no previous experience of bodybuilding, I used to do basketball and sometimes swimming. I am slim and averagely fit
I would like to start body building at home to keep fit but most import important to keep my self esteem. If I am at home doing nothing, at least I will work out
Can I ask you if this is feasible? Do you already happen to have a sort of workout plan or maybe previous discussions on the same topic? I found some, but unless I am mistaken they were about the idea. Not really about the specific exercises to make, the time to dedicate, the goals to set in terms of exercises to do
    Thanks

I will try to take it as a suggestion and not as an insult. Well it works like this. I am 39, not a kid anymore. I have right now some money from the government, not enough, just what I need to survive (I have family and mortgage to pay). If I don't find a job related to my skills I will have to take whatever job. I don't know if you ever tried what it means to work in a fast food. Anyway I am open also to that, I need money and I was even a janitor for some time when I was a kid I don't mind. The point is that they don't even hire you. In the Mac Donald's here they hire kids, not people of my age. Moreover if I take a lower job I won't have time to search and apply for better jobs which I was already doing day by day and almost all day long as you might imagine

Not really. Your best bet is to buy a secondhand barbell and plates - that would give you the best bang for buck.

There are various ways of improvising equipment but it can be a false economy since it's still going to cost something.

    Thank you
What would you start from exactly? I mean which set of weights and what sort of exercises

Bare minimum: barbell and plates. This allows deadlift, hack squat, overhead press, floor press, rows, curls etc

Bench: allows bench press (only with spotter), one arm landmine rows, laying tricep extensions etc

Spotter stands or full cage - back squats,
Full cage: possibly pullups if there is a bar fitted, safer bench presses, shrugs, rack pulls, rack rows etc.

After that you could get some bands for isolation exercises but by now you've got 95% of what you need.

Doesn't Planet Fitness offer something like $10 a month? I don't know if you have that or another incredibly inexpensive chain near you, but if you're just beginning in weight training, it could be a cost effective option. You have the space at home for equipment? If you do, I like SuffolkPunch's idea.

Less lateral raises, more time management.

This time of year many companies are hiring for seasonal work.
    Better than nothing.
When i was a coach at a small high school that didn't have money for equipment i collected cans and plastic bottles.
I didn't make a ton of money but enough for some equipment we needed when spent wisely.
Yes i had to go to the recycling place after collecting by myself i just did it trying to get to my goal.
If you can't get work you need to find how you can make some many money.
Doing nothing will give you no results.
As far as training right now explore all the body weight options you can until you get some equipment.

Also in the meantime get good at pushups, pullups, and squats, and all the other bodyweight exercises that are for the most part free. I'm not sure it sounds that you're serious about bodybuilding proper instead of just being in shape, but either way that kind of stuff can be valuable.

Agreed. Based on his post history, I'm surprised he hasn't found work as a "shoulder model". ;-)

Find yourself a bar, rafters, ibeam, etc and you can workout. You don't need equipment.

Doesn't mean he cant spend a few minutes a day staying in shape with the basics, pushups, pullups, dips, crunches. If it boosts his self esteem and keeps him happier it will help in the job search and it doesn't cost a dime.

Hello again folks sorry for not answering before. In the meanwhile I found a temporary job which is already much better than no job at all
I also found a gym that advertises a promotion 20 euros per month. If it's real and has no hidden costs (like yearly association subscriptions) that's very good
I will follow your suggestions about training I can do at home
    Thanks again
