Robocop suits made out of mylar for old people to save money on heating bills in the winter.

Not only will the suit keep them warm and they won't need to put on the heating over winter, but they will also look like Robocop which will deter would be burglars.

    $10k for design

$20k for prototypes and some stock.

    Get on QVC.... profit.

have you checked into the startup costs?
in a bureaucratic nightmare that is the current uk/eu, the red tape alone i would assume would easily suck 30k out of you.
plus food truck cost, it's gotta be what, 50k to get it equipped alone? no such thing as used food truck kitchen equipment out there, as they're all made to order and custom.

overnight parking costs (can't just park it in front of your house like a Turk), licensing fees.
not to be negative nancy, but startup costs seem to be very high. i had a friend here (US and A) who looked into it, and in the end he said initial burn would be less for a b&m rented restaurant space than a food truck.

You can also buy one from flippa or empire flippers that you think has potential and pump some money into SEO/marketing/sales funnels or use affiliates/influencers/PPC. It's a bit saturated but a cost effective way to get into a business due to your capital restrictions. It's very hard to just walk into an industry and do well so itll take time. If it fails, you didn't lose much and you came out with experience to take to the next venture. Every big entrepreneur/business owner that you see has a multiple of failed businesses that they learned from to apply to their current success.

Side note, typically want to budget 50k or so just for product development/testing in addition to everything else if you go that route. I know you mentioned food trucks so that's also a bit capital intensive. Think insurances and all that jazz as well. Also you're limited to one truck alone so you'll need help to scale and with employees you open up another can of worms. Try contracting out if possible for liability purposes and peace of mind until you're established.

Would also advise starting something small on the side for nights and weekends and leave 'the rat race' when it really takes off because you're going to face a lot of pressure if you just quit and try to start something...

The fact that youre motivated shows that you have the potential, just have to be smart with your capital, time and effort. Good luck OP, were all going to make it!
Great post man. Dropshipping or Amazon FBA are definitely something I would love to get into but I just can't crack it with what products to sell. I am so behind the times with my Smart Phone and device knowledge I'd be in a very saturated market up against razor sharp pros. I'm trying to think of a niche.

I opened my own restaurant in the UK from scratch and did well with it. I know the industry well and know I can do well in it. I don't want the pressure of a brick and mortar venue again hence the food truck idea.

Blow money? I didn't think we could talk about that on the Misc...

Anyways... I have looked into setting up one of those DIY car washes... You don't have to hire anybody... you don't even have to be there everyday... maintenance should be at a minimum early on.. even then you are only basically dealing with pressure wahers and plumbing as far as hard parts... you just sit back and let people fill your slot with rolls of quarters

    Buy inflatable amusements (Bouncy Castles).

You get them out of China with knockoff Disney graphics for $2000 each, and they rent anywhere from $200-$400 for 2 hrs. You schedule them for a morning and afternoon rental window, and then spend Saturdays and Sundays running around dropping off and picking up. Pick up a Go-Daddy Squarespace website and then join every mama's group on Facebook and spam spam spam.

They dont wear out, are easy to patch/fix, and if you had 5 rented out twice on a Saturday that's $3k/weekend.

Set them up as party rentals not operated amusements, and make the renter sign a waiver you paid a lawyer to make up to keep yourself away from injury liability. The only catch is your local insurance regs. For me to do it above the board here I would be classed as an amusement operator, and the insurance costs would gobble up most of the take. Lots of people here are doing it in the grey area between party rentals and an amusement operator, but you need to decide if you are willing to take that risk.

If you're willing to be a tradie you can get in the landscaping business. 30k would be more than enough to get into it and you can make a decent living once you've built up a clientele. In my area people are always posting wanted ads looking for lawn care and snow removal. Get an arborist license and you can do tree removal as well.

Don't feel the need to reinvent the wheel. Most products you see are the same as the previous with just an extra ingredient or slight twist...the main driving force is the branding/marketing. For example the cologne you see on the shelves are made by the same few manufacturers with similar ingredients just a different bottle and slight twist on the scent. These are the same ones that make the fancy stuff and also the axe or lower end stuff on the shelves at walmart....

Also think of your target market...for example mid aged women are emotional shoppers. How many facewashes and foundation packets does the average women have? probably quite a few. Also think of what that product does, chances are it feeds an insecurity like this specific example blemishes or skin imperfections. Weightloss is another good one. These sell better than say a designer sweater for men as they hit an emotion and a targeted market.

Again, nothing too deep, the best products are very obvious. Youre better off selling lotion than trying to be the next elon musk. I know successful people that sell stuff like traffic cones and make millions and others trying to reinvent something ridiculous and are just pissing away money.

    it's not money

    it's
    1) contacts
    2) knowledge and experience in industry you want to make $ in
    3) deciding b2b (hard) or b2c (easier)
    4) finding ways to reach out to these customers ($ for marketing)
    5) solving a problem with your solution.

assuming u can figure out #4 - the problem then is 1-4. With #4 being the hardest. You have a product but no way to sell it.

Lol not sure if serious... 30k is more than enough 200k would be a massive waste if OP doesn't know what he's doing

Best thing to do if you want to start your own business is to find something you're good at and do that. Could be crafts, creative, programming, design, buying and selling anything really.

If you're into cars why not buy cheap ****boxes and fix them up?
If you're into clothes, resell clothes?
If you have an idea for an app, pay someone to build it?
    make a convenience store?
    Print on demand business?
    Sell sheds???
    Breed animals and sell them
    Grow plants and sell them?
invent a product like a mirror that doubles as a tv or something?
pick shells from a local beach, make necklaces from them and sell at a local crafts place?
Buy a bunch of vending machines and scatter them around?

idk brah there are millions of ways of making money just gotta try it otherwise you'll never do it

Go out and test some concepts and do small projects to find your niche and get an idea of what you're good at instead of diving in balls deep with no direction.

Maybe it's fixing electronics or retail. Find a way to try out what you have in mind, then invest deeper after you prove your concept.

For example, I recently flipped storage units to test out the supply and demand of different types of product quickly. Now, I'm refining what I learned for a larger, more focused, business. Testing only costed about $60-$100 to start blind.

Maybe your niche is fixing electronics, being a middle man, or something else. Go out and test what you've been thinking about on a small scale.

There's plenty of suggestions here, so give some a try if you don't have a personal idea you've wanted to try.

    Very true.

I spent ~30k starting a niche retail store.

    I gross >700k/year.

30k is more than enough to start a small business if you know what you are doing/looking for.
