Blizzcon 2018 will take place November 2-3 and as usual I'll be buying a virtual ticket(even though I'm mad about the WoW loot!). If anyone has any predictions, or has anything that they would like to see at this years Blizzcon let's talk about it!
I'm excited to see what they have in store for Diablo as there has been a lot of buzz lately about a new Diablo title/some big Diablo news but with Blizzard who knows right? I swear to god if the entire Diablo panel is just about the stupid port to the Switch I am going to throw my computer out of the window.
What I'd like to see most of them reveal one or more of their new IP's that they have been working on, but I doubt they will do that. Brian Holinka who was one of the lead WoW dev's was re-assigned last year to head up their new project so we know that there is something big in the works. With how tight lipped they kept Titan, even after it was shut down, you're really never hopeful that Blizzard will reveal that kinda info early on.
Here's the schedule:

Starcraft is essentially dead
Wow just had their new xpac release
Overwatch I couldn’t care less about. But I’d predict a new char or map
Diablo? That d4 buzz and rumors were sky high for the LAST blizzcon and the was radio silence. That being said, I’m really hoping for d4 announced still. Or another d3 expansion. Or another d3 character class.
Honestly anything from diablo that’s new would be greatMS, Computer Science

I saw that too but there's no way they would make a Diablo MMO right now.
1. MMO is a genre that's on it's way out, new gamers have no interest in MMO's.
2. Diablo doesn't have a big enough player base at the moment(I guess that could change with a new title) to sustain an MMO, especially one by Blizzard's standards.
3. Diablo and WoW are too similar to be able to maintain it's own MMO since they're already fantasy based(obviously Diablo is more horror than fantasy but still).

Would love for this, and they can easily do this with a D4 release as well. WoW had this last year with the new expansion and Vanilla.
Starcraft needs a new game at this point. It's the same thing.
I feel a new D3 character would be a weak release. They did that with Necromancer, and it wasn't that exciting. I would be fine with D4, that follows the D2 playstyle.
This essentially. They won't make competing MMO's, and the MMO games are really dying hard. Games are more "fast-paced" now, where making a grinding MMO isn't the thing anymore. WoW can do this because they simplified it, and the nostalgia from Vanilla (Runescape is the same).
I really hope they can make a new D4 that just mimics D2. I think it'll bring a healthy playerbase.
It'll be like this:
WoW - Talk about moving forward with expansion, and just what's to come for Vanilla (developer insight).
Hearthstone - New expansion
HOTS - New heroes and map. Hopefully they build in some "multi-class" like they tried before
Overwatch - New hero and map++ Positive Crew ++

I have a hard time believing there will be a diablo 2 remaster and a diablo 4 announcement. Lets be honest, diablo 2 was made by blizzard north, diablo 3 was another team and same as diablo 3, diablo 4 will be a typical blizzard game in terms of artstyle, mood, writing and depth.
Diablo 2 was in alot of ways, especially atmosphere, music, artstyle better than d3 and I think bliz wouldnt throw that contrast in peoples faces by announcing both titles.
So my guess is that its just gonna be one or the other but not both.
If its diablo 4 it might have more of an online mmo aspect than before.

I bet we're gonna get more diverse heroes. I hope we're getting more gender options. Maybe instead of male or female fixed choices, we can have a gender spectrum adjusted by a slider. Or maybe even have an input field to type in a custom gender for our characters.

With BlizzCon 2018 fast approaching, Blizzard Entertainment has revealed additional steps it's taking to facilitate inclusivity and accessibility.

I'm sure Diablo will be wearing a pussy hat & have dildo claws now. Our faithful heroes will all be black, muslim, or 400 pound blue hair feminazis. Instead of dungeons our jobless protagonists will raid clothing stores during in game hurricanes, set fire to Tristram churches, hold protests outside of Lut Gholein City Hall & shoot up Harrogath's middle school. Afterwards they'll all make their pilgrimage to the kurast welfare office to collect their "loot".
Man I can't wait!! If you don't play it you're #intolerant"Rise and rise again until lambs become lions"

Inb4 Diablo battle royale
Jk, they wouldn't compete with Activision's cod br. But if they do go the traditional hack and slash/aRPG route, it'll be interesting to see how this game sets itself apart. Some ITT argue that the MMO genre is on its way out, but the hack and slash genre isn't exactly thriving. PoE is the only one that I know of that has had any success in recent years, and by Blizzard standards, I'm not even sure they'd call it that. I know D3 sold pretty well, but I don't think having just another generic hack and slash diablo will be enough to appease anyone who isn't a hardcore diablo fan.FL IS THE GOAT STATE CREW

if Blizzard just leaves diablo alone for eternity then I'll be happy. They're not capable of moving this forward in a positive direction. They won't develop a proper engine for the diablo style nor develop thematically deep art or music for the game. They just don't get it anymore.
If they remade D2 they'd destroy everything about it. Maybe if they made a proper engine for a D2 remake they could apply that to a decent D4, but I doubt any of the idiot bean counters and blizzard are thinking 5 mins ahead of time.Boycott foodservice industry crew

I doubt it will be a D2 remake. David Brevik had a great interview with I think IGN where he talked about the possibility of a D2 remake and what would make it really difficult and it sounded like there are a lot of underlying systems that would have to be completely rewritten from the ground up.
https://youtu.be/M_Xn9BHl24c
Stuff like AI aggro distance is defined by screen area and mods for D2 that raise max resolution (which I typically roll with) will reveal this trait with the AI where they will be on screen and you can see/attack them but they won’t know you are there until you get within a certain distance from them that would be within the boundaries of one of the original game’s resolutions.
The other big thing is the whole movement grid. It’s something that Blizzard would have to completely rewrite for the player and monsters but also all the attacks which are bound to the same grid.
Now... all that being said, I would not be opposed to a total overhaul of diablo 3 but built using all of D2’s systems, enemies, entire world rebuilt with the graphic fidelity of D3 but with the dark atmosphere/art of the original D2. the thing about D3 is that I really love the art style. It’s like a painting and has a lot of character. Different atmosphere from D2 for sure but if they can combine the atmosphere of D2 with the hand painted style of D3, I think that would look great.
I’m a huge POE fan and love the look of that game but style aside, the presentation of the art in each of those games are VERY diffferent and I am more drawn to D3’s than POE despite POE having a PHENOMENAL sense of place and atmosphere.
All that said, I don’t know what I want out of a D4. I’ll play whatever they make but for me, honestly POE just does everything I want an ARPG to do and all of the content updates for the game affect so much of the whole game, it can make playing through the acts with a new built feel very different and new where as almost all the D3 content it seems was just extra stuff added to the end game and I never really got into that very much.Sig line can't be a novel
