    Muscle/ strength retention when injured

    Hi all.

I sprained my hand quite badly a couple of weeks ago. The strength in my hand is almost gone. Max weight I can hold is 5kg. I can see myself not training till new year.

What can I do to try and keep my strength gains?

Are there certain supplement I should take?

I use weights at home, so cant really train legs as much. Just been doing lots of bodyweight squats. I can manage some abs exercises.

    All advice is appreciated.

See a hand specialist (Orthopedic Hand Surgeon). Depending on the specifics of your injury it may be possible to use wrist wraps, lifting hooks, lifting straps, or have an orthopedic cast made to aid in specific lifts (i.e. using plasticast material that are often used for catcher thumb injuries or for football players to keep them in the game). You might look into using machines (i.e. join a gym), alternative exercises, and specialty bars (ssb, swiss bar, etc). You'll need to find someone who understands lifting.
