Do you think when you are say 80 or so (God willing) you will start to wear your pants around your stomach?

Are you trying to say it doesn't look cool, Johnny?
My guess is that most men don't have waists and are not athletic at all. Also, throughout history, men have worn pants high.
Look at Napoleon pics. There you go.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

They've probably always worn them like that? If you watch television or movies from the 40s-50s-60s all men regardless of age wore their pants high.

Because the loss of muscle mass pretty much reduces your @ss to a boney protuberance.....which combined with added midsection fat produces a body shape much like an icecream cone from the waist down. There really isn't anything there that can hold up the pants.
Luckily, with age, the stomach becomes an amorphous mass of gelatinous goo that is malleable enough for an adequately tightened belt to displace flesh on either side. This creates the magical groove needed to hold up the pants....and why old people wear their pants halfway up to their nipples.
P.S. I must pat myself on the back for coming up with a legitimate way to use "nipples" in a post. It doesn't happen every day.Last edited by Karl_Hungus; 11-06-2018 at 01:11 PM.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

It's much more secure if the belt is above the top of the hips which puts it at belly button height. Same reason as braces used to be common. In the old days having your pants torn down by strangers was an everyday hazzard and this was how they were worn to combat that. Thankfully that behaviour seemed to end some time in the early 60s and anyone born after that time wears trousers/pants the normal way. That's a historical fact, Google it.
(OK, I made it all up... so sue me)
Edit: ok on a serious point for a change, I have 2 pairs of suit pants/trousers I got from a tailor a few years back, they are both pretty worn out now. The tailor is a very traditional company (the company started in 1689!) and so traditional they don't have belt loops as that is too new for them as loops became popular in the 1960s so they come with these weird adjusters instead (I got them to add belt loops for me). Anyway even though they are very old fashioned construction, the waist height is normal. So the very high waist must be something to do with old men, not some throwback to old fashioned fashion.Last edited by OldFartTom; 11-08-2018 at 09:59 AM.

We used to wear our bombers with beads on the cord around the hood, with pin striped Lee's and BVD Tshirts. Once we got inside the club we would wear our jackets backwards with the jacket in front and our arms in the wrong sleeve and never zipped. LOL The s**t we did back then. Oh and I wore either Puma's ( I still do to this day ) or Adidas clam shells. I had a pair of green Puma suede mid tops.

Imagine being poor and living in a hood where if you did not have the style clothes you would be ridiculed and picked on....Coupled that with being a skinny kid with thick glasses....that will give a perspective of why I started fighting, working out, got into gangs and why I earned my money in the streets....

I have been a high pants wearer all my life and if I had my way, I would wear them at like nipple height, srs.
My thing is I have a long torso so if I wear pants down around the hips, it looks like I am odd shaped. Regular shirts wont even tuck in at that distance.
Now add in that my weight goes up and down a lot, like 70 Lbs up and down every year, a lot of swings. So if I am in a fat time, now i have a big belly and if I wear jeans, I look like billy bob with a big belly.
When i wear my work slacks, I wear them center mass, which for me is right about at the belly button or higher. I simply cannot wear jeans of an sort. i like them but they always look stupid.
its a constant thing to find top dead center for me. Its like my "hips" are about 3" below my nipples.
if i were older, i would not give a **** and would wear the damn things higher so i dont need to think about it any more, plus it pisses young bucks off so there is that."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda
