First day of Super Bowl events looked like a fun day for everyone. A couple things that stood out to me / thought random thoughts:

Gronk said retirement is the last thing on his mind. That could be true at this time, but it'll be interesting if he comes back. He looked like he was having a lot of fun yesterday, so maybe he's still got it

Devin McCourty mentioned a good chance of retiring if the Pats win the Super Bowl. He's had a great career and said nothing would beat winning the Super Bowl with his brother. McCourty is one of the highest rated players over the last few years. He would be greatly missed.

Brady said there was a ZERO percent chance of retiring after this season. I tend to believe him this time around.

I learned that JC Jackson was arrested for robbery a few years back and no team wanted him which is how he was an undrafted FA this season. He was actually a very talented prospect, but teams didn't want someone like that on their team. Doesn't surprise me that the Pats took a chance and it paid off. Apparently, Jackson has been getting amazing praise from his team mates all season long.

Wade Philips was asked how he's going to defend the Patriots. He said he was going to get an ear piece with Tony Romo on the other end telling him what plays were coming LMFAO

I'm really pumped for this Super Bowl. I'm feeling really good about where we are. We're healthy, we're playing better each week, and we have been able to create a more balanced offense where we can control game flow. Just like the last 2 games, we need to come out and get a lead early, so we can play our game and control the clock.

Rob Gronkowski on the physical & mental toll during a season:

The season's a grind. ... To take hits on the thigh, take hits to the head. Abusing your body isn't what your brain wants. When your body is abused, it can bring down your mood. You've got to be able to deal with that, too, throughout the season.

Stuff like this makes me think Gronk is done after this season. He honestly has nothing left to prove. He's had a long and successful career. I hope he gets out before he has long term issues from football.

I don't follow college football much, but I remember seeing a couple mock draft people saying there is a Gronk type TE in this year's class, but I don't recall who that was.

Went down to the wire and was still the most uneventful Pats win ever. Cant believe Pats won a bowl that didnt age me 40 years.

My scenario is still looking good.


The Pats have a rough start to the season. They start to win more games. They may drop a few games but they finish 11-5. They don't have a 1st round bye or home field advantage. They limp through the playoffs and make it to the SB to play the Rams who seem unstoppable and have a potent offense and a really good defense. Wild Bill finds a way to neutralize both and squeak by for the SB win. Brady wins his 6th against the team that he won his first. Him and Bill retire and ride off into the sunset.

Then the Pats fall back into mediocrity and younger fans will have to deal with a poor Pats team that misses the playoffs.
